Clinical study on the relationship between liver cirrhosis,ascites,and hyponatremia

BACKGROUND Cirrhosis is a common liver disease,and ascites is one of the common clinical ***,the clinical manifestations of ascites combined with hyponatremia as a high-risk condition and its relationship to patient prognosis have not been fully *** To explore the clinical manifestations,prognostic factors,and relationships of ascites with hyponatremia in patients with cirrhosis to provide better diagnostic and treatment *** In this study,we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 150 patients diagnosed with cirrhosis and ascites between 2017 and *** were divided into two groups:ascites combined with hyponatremia group and ascites *** compared the general characteristics,degree of hyponatremia,complications,treatment,and prognosis between the two *** In the study results,patients in the ascites combined with hyponatremia group showed an older average age(58.2±8.9 years),64.4%were male,and had a significantly longer hospitalization time(12.7±5.3 d).Hyponatremia was more severe in this group,with a mean serum sodium concentration of 128.5±4.3 mmol/L,which was significantly different from the ascites group of 137.6±2.1 mmol/*** with ascites and hyponatremia were more likely to develop hepatic encephalopathy(56.2%vs 39.0%),renal impairment(45.2%vs 28.6%)and infection(37.0%vs 23.4%).Regarding treatment,this group more frequently used diuretics(80.8%vs 62.3%)and salt supplements(60.3%vs 38.9%).Multiple logistic regression analysis identified older age[Odds ratio(OR)=1.06,P=0.025]and male gender(OR=1.72,P=0.020)as risk factors for hyponatremia combined with ***,patients with ascites and hyponatremia present a clear high-risk status,accompanied by severe complications and poor *** In patients with cirrhosis,ascites with hyponatremia is a high-risk condition that is often associated with severe complications.

Mechanical reliable,NIR light-induced rapid self-healing hydrogel electrolyte towards flexible zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors with low-temperature adaptability and long service life

Hydrogel electrolytes hold great potential in flexible zinc ion supercapacitors(ZICs)due to their high conductivity,good safety,and ***,freezing of electrolytes at low temperature(subzero)leads to drastic reduction in ionic conductivity and mechanical properties that deteriorates the performance of flexible ***,the mechanical fracture during arbitrary deformations significantly prunes out the lifespan of the flexible ***,a Zn^(2+)and li^(+)co-doped,polypyrrole-dopamine decorated Sb_(2)S_(3)incorporated,and polyvinyl alcohol/poly(N-(2-hydroxyethyl)acrylamide)double-network hydrogel electrolyte is constructed with favorable mechanical reliability,anti-freezing,and self-healing *** addition,it delivers ultra-high ionic conductivity of 8.6 and 3.7 S m^(-1)at 20 and−30°C,respectively,and displays excellent mechanical properties to withstand tensile stress of 1.85 MPa with tensile elongation of 760%,together with fracture energy of 5.14 MJ m^(-3).Notably,the fractured hydrogel electrolyte can recover itself after only 90 s of infrared illumination,while regaining 83%of its tensile strain and almost 100%of its ionic conductivity during−30–60°***,ZICs coupled with this hydrogel electrolyte not only show a wide voltage window(up to 2 V),but also provide high energy density of 230 Wh kg^(-1)at power density of 500 W kg^(-1)with a capacity retention of 86.7%after 20,000 cycles under 20°***,the ZICs are able to retain excellent capacity even under various mechanical deformation at−30°*** contribution will open up new insights into design of advanced wearable flexible electronics with environmental adaptability and long-life span.

Influence of cerium and yttrium addition on strength and electrical conductivity of pure aluminum alloys

To develop pure aluminum alloys with high conductivity and strength, Al-0.2Ce and Al-0.2Ce-0.1Y alloys were prepared by rolling and annealing processes in this study. The effects of trace rare earth elements on the strength and electrical conductivity of the pure aluminum alloys were investigated. It is revealed that the addition of Ce and Y to pure aluminum can effectively enhance the strength and electrical conductivity of the alloys. In Al-0.2Ce, the addition of Ce can effectively refine the grain size of a-Al, with an average grain size of 90.68 μm in the as-cast state. The grain size of the alloy is further reduced to 87.55 μm by the simultaneous addition of Y. The synergistic addition of Ce and Y changes the properties of the alloy. The addition of Ce and Y also produces the Al_(11)Ce_(3) and Al_(3)Y second phases, which have coherent relationship with a-Al. The two-dimensional mismatch degree was calculated to be only 4.43%and 0.85%, respectively, which can provide a certain amount of nucleation substrate for a-Al in the incubation stage. The interfacial match between the L1_(2)structure of Al_(3)Y and a-Al was calculated using first-principles simulations. The results indicate that Al_(3)Y has a strong bonding effect with a-Al. Nanoscale second phases at grain boundaries can be effective in reducing resistivity due to dislocation *** second phases with better matching interfaces to the substrate have no positive effect on the scattering motion of electrons.

Impacts of Aggregation Methods and Trophospecies Number on the Structure and Function of Marine Food Webs

Aggregation of species with similar ecological properties is one of the effective methods to simplify food web ***,species aggregation will affect not only the complexity of modeling process but also the accuracy of models’*** of aggregation methods and the number of trophospecies are the keys to study the simplification of food *** this study,three aggregation methods,including taxonomic aggregation(TA),structural equivalence aggregation(SEA),and self-organizing maps(SOM),were analyzed and compared with the linear inverse model–Markov Chain Monte Carlo(liM-MCMC)*** of aggregation methods and trophospecies number on food webs were evaluated based on the robustness and unitless of ecological net-work *** showed that aggregation method of SEA performed better than the other two methods in estimating food web structure and function *** effects of aggregation methods were driven by the differences in species aggregation principles,which will alter food web structure and function through the redistribution of energy *** to the results of mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)which can be applied to evaluate the accuracy of the model,we found that MAPE in food web indices will increase with the reducing trophospecies number,and MAPE in food web function indices were smaller and more stable than those in food web structure ***,trade-off between simplifying food webs and reflecting the status of ecosystem should be con-sidered in food web *** findings highlight the importance of aggregation methods and trophospecies number in the analy-sis of food web *** study provided a framework to explore the extent to which food web models are affected by dif-ferent species aggregation,and will provide scientific basis for the construction of food webs.

Since the appearance of Rochelle salt,ferroelectrics have received extensive attention from researchers due to they are playing an important role in sensors,memories,mechanical actuation,and so *** recent years,with the rapid development of molecular ferroelectrics,high-performance molecular ferroelectrics have become effective complement to inorganic ***,compared with inorganic ferroelectrics,the family of molecular ferroelectrics is relatively scarce,and exploring highperformance ferroelectric materials through new synthesis strategies has become the trend of molecular ***,we successfully transformed non-polar material 1(2-H_(2)PCA)_(2)(H_(2)O)CdCl_(6)(2-H_(2)PCA=2-picolylamine cation)into polar material 2(2-H_(2)PCA)2CdCl_(6)by single-crystal to single-crystal transformation(SCSCT).Meanwhile,2 exhibits clear ferroelectricity with a high-temperature Tc of 378 K,a Ps of 1.18μC/cm^(2)at 300 *** work not only realizes the purpose of synthesizing ferroelectrics by forming polar structures by SCSCT,but also realizes the reversibility of SCSCT,which provides ideas for the construction and exploration of new molecular ferroelectrics.

The meandering river is an unstable system with the characteristic of nonlinearity,which results from the instability of the flow and *** on the hydrodynamic nonlinearity of the bend,we use the weakly nonlinear theory and perturbation method to construct the nonlinear evolution equations of the disturbance amplitude and disturbance phase of two-dimensional flow in meandering *** influence of the curvature,Re and the disturbance wave number on the evolution of disturbance amplitude and disturbance phase are ***,the spatial and temporal evolution of the disturbance vorticity is *** research results show:that the curvature makes the flow more stable;that in the evolution of the disturbance amplitude effected by curvature,Re and the disturbance wave number,exist nonlinear attenuation with damping disturbances,and nonlinear explosive growth with positive disturbances;that the asymmetry distribution of the disturbance velocities increases with the curvature;that the location of the disturbance vorticity’s core area changes periodically with disturbance phase,and the disturbance vorticity gradually attenuates/increases with the decrease of the disturbance phase in the evolution process of damping/positive *** results shed light on the construction of the interaction model of hydrodynamic nonlinearity and geometric nonlinearity of bed.

Cell Mechanics Regulates the Dynamic Anisotropic Remodeling of Fibril Matrix at Large Scale

living tissues often have anisotropic and heterogeneous organizations, in which developmental processes are coordinated by cells and extracellular matrix modeling. Cells have the capability of modeling matrix in long distance;however, the biophysical mechanism is largely unknown. We investigated the dynamic remodeling of collagen I (COL) fibril matrix by cell contraction with designed patterns of cell clusters. By considering cell dynamic contractions, our molecular dynamics simulations predicted the anisotropic patterns of the observed COL bundling in experiments with various geometrical patterns without spatial limitation. The pattern of COL bundling was closely related to the dynamic remodeling of fibril under cell active contraction. We showed that cell cytoskeletal integrity (actin filaments and microtubules), actomyosin contractions, and endoplasmic reticulum calcium channels acting as force generations and transductions were essential for fiber bundling inductions, and membrane mechanosensory components integrin and Piezo played critical roles as well. This study revealed the underlying mechanisms of the cell mechanics-induced matrix remodeling in large scales and the associated cellular mechanism and should provide important guidelines for tissue engineering in potential biomedical applications.

UAMP-Based Delay-Doppler Channel Estimation for OTFS Systems

Orthogonal time frequency space(OTFS)technique, which modulates data symbols in the delayDoppler(DD) domain, presents a potential solution for supporting reliable information transmission in highmobility vehicular networks. In this paper, we study the issues of DD channel estimation for OTFS in the presence of fractional Doppler. We first propose a channel estimation algorithm with both low complexity and high accuracy based on the unitary approximate message passing(UAMP), which exploits the structured sparsity of the effective DD domain channel using hidden Markov model(HMM). The empirical state evolution(SE) analysis is then leveraged to predict the performance of our proposed algorithm. To refine the hyperparameters in the proposed algorithm,we derive the update criterion for the hyperparameters through the expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm. Finally, Our simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can achieve a significant gain over various baseline schemes.
