Searching for efficient nonprecious metal-based catalysts toward oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are of significance for seawater ***,a core-shell-structured hybrid of cobalt phosphide nanowires@niFe layered double hydroxide nanosheets grown on conductive nickel foam(CoP@niFe LDH/NF)is prepared by a feasible approach at low *** charming structure can provide numerous phosphide/hydroxide heterogenous interfaces,expose abundant active sites,and boost elec-tron/mass transfer,synergistically enhancing catalytic OER *** employed as an electrocatalyst toward the OER,the resultant CoP@niFe LDH/NF only requires a small overpotential of 287 mV to pro-vide 300 mA/cm^(2)current density as well as long-time durability in 1.0 mol/L KOH *** regula-tion of electronic states and surface reconstruction synergistically contribute to highly efficient seawater *** work provides an opportunity to construct efficient and inexpensive electrocatalysts for hydrogen production.

The coexistence of multi-component active sites like single-atom sites,diatomic sites(DAS)and nanoclusters is shown to result in superior performances in the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Metal diatomic sites are more complex than single-atom sites but their unique electronic structures can lead to significant enhancement of the HER *** the synthesis and identification of DAS is usually challenging,we report a simple access to a diatomic catalyst by anchoring Co-Ru DAS on nitrogen-doped carbon supports along with Ru nanoparticles(NPs).Experimental and theoretical results revealed the atomic-level characteristics of Co-Ru sites,their strong electronic coupling and their synergy with Ru NPs within the *** unique electronic structure of the catalyst resulted in an excellent HER activity and stability in alkaline *** work provides a valuable insight into a widely applicable design of diatomic catalysts with multi-component active sites for highly efficient HER electrocatalysis.

●AIM:To identify disease-causative mutations in families with congenital cataract.●METHODS:Two Chinese families with autosomaldominant congenital cataract(ADCC)were recruited and underwent comprehensive eye *** panel next-generation sequencing of common pathogenic genes of congenital cataract was performed in the proband of each *** sequencing was used to valid the candidate gene mutations and sequence the other family members for co-segregation *** effect of sequence changes on protein structure and function was predicted through bioinformatics *** intrinsic protein(MIP)-wildtype and MIP-G29R plasmids were constructed and microinjected into zebrafish single-cell stage *** embryonic lens phenotypes were screened using confocal microscopy.●RESULTS:A novel heterozygous mutation(c.85G>A;p.G29R)in the MIP gene was identified in the proband of one family.A known heterozygous mutation(c.97C>T;p.R33C;rs864309693)in MIP was found in the proband of another ***-silico prediction indicated that the novel mutation might affect the MIP protein *** embryonic lens was uniformly transparent in both wild-type PCS2+MIP and mutant PCS2+MIP.●CONCLUSION:Two missense mutations in the MIP gene in Chinese cataract families are identified,and one of which is *** findings expand the genetic spectrum of MIP mutations associated with *** functional studies suggest that the novel MIP mutation might not be a gain-of-function but a loss-of-function mutation.

In this work, we study the error estimates of the fully discrete Fourier pseudospectral numerical scheme for solving the nonlocal volume-conserved Allen-Cahn(AC) *** time marching method of the numerical scheme is based on the well-known Invariant Energy Quadratization(IEQ) method. We demonstrate that the proposed fully discrete numerical method is uniquely solvable, unconditionally energy stable, and obtain the optimal error estimate of the scheme for both space and time. Additionally, we conduct several numerical tests to verify the theoretical results.

With the exploding prevalence of obesity,many children are at risk of developing nonalcoholic fatty liver *** anthropometric and laboratory parameters,our study aimed to develop a model to quantitatively evaluate liver fat content(LFC)in children with *** A well-characterized cohort of 181 children between 5 and 16 years of age were recruited to the study in the Endocrinology Department as the derivation *** external validation cohort comprised 77 *** assessment of liver fat content was performed using proton magnetic resonance *** and laboratory metrics were measured in all subjects.B-ultrasound examination was carried out in the external validation *** Kruskal-Wallis test,Spearman bivariate correlation analyses,univariable linear regressions and multivariable linear regression were used to build the optimal predictive *** The model was based on indicators including alanine aminotransferase,homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance,triglycerides,waist circumference and Tanner *** adjusted R^(2)of the model was 0.589,which presented high sensitivity and specificity both in internal[sensitivity of 0.824,specificity of 0.900,area under curve(AUC)of 0.900 with a 95%confidence interval:0.783–1.000]and external validation(sensitivity of 0.918 and specificity of 0.821,AUC of 0.901 with a 95%confidence interval:0.818–0.984).Conclusions Our model based on five clinical indicators was simple,non-invasive,and inexpensive;it had high sensitivity and specificity in predicting LFC in ***,it may be useful for identifying children with obesity who are at risk for developing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Background The genetic diversity of yak,a key domestic animal on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP),is a vital resource for domestication and breeding *** study presents the first yak pangenome obtained through the de novo assembly of 16 yak *** We discovered 290 Mb of nonreference sequences and 504 new *** pangenome-wide presence and absence variation(PAV)analysis revealed 5,120 PAV-related genes,highlighting a wide range of variety-specific genes and genes with varying frequencies across yak *** component analysis(PCA)based on binary gene PAV data classified yaks into three new groups:wild,domestic,and ***,we pro-posed a‘two-haplotype genomic hybridization model'for understanding the hybridization patterns among breeds by integrating gene frequency,heterozygosity,and gene PAV data.A gene PAV-GWAS identified a novel gene(Bos-Gru3G009179)that may be associated with the multirib trait in jinchuan ***,an integrated transcrip-tome and pangenome analysis highlighted the significant differences in the expression of core genes and the muta-tional burden of differentially expressed genes between yaks from high and low *** analysis across multiple species revealed that yaks have the most unique differentially expressed m RNAs and lnc RNAs(between high-and low-altitude regions),especially in the heart and lungs,when comparing high-and low-altitude *** The yak pangenome offers a comprehensive resource and new insights for functional genomic studies,supporting future biological research and breeding strategies.

Insufficient sleep can produce a multitude of deleterious repercussions on various domains of human ***,the walnut(Juglans mandshurica)confers numerous salutary biological activities pertaining to ***,the sedative and hypnotic capacities of walnut's functional constituents remain *** this investigation,we analyzed the sedative and hypnotic components of the walnut Diaphragma juglandis fructus and innovatively discovered a compound,defined as 3-hydroxy-4-iminobutyric acid(HIBA),which disrupts motor activity and enhances sleep duration by regulating the neurotransmitters(GABA,DA,etc.)within the brain and serum of ***,a metabolomics approach of the serum,basal ganglia,hypothalamus,and hippocampus as well as the gut microbiota was undertaken to unravel the underlying molecular mechanisms of sleep *** data reveal that HIBA can regulate the metabolism of basal ganglia(sphingolipids,acylcarnitines,etc.),possibly in relation to HIBA's influence on the gut microbiome(Muribaculum,Bacteroides,Lactobacillus,etc.).Therefore,we introduce a novel natural product,HIBA,and explicate the modulation of sleep promotion in mice based on the microbiota-gut-brain *** study contributes fresh insights toward natural product-based sleep research.
