Cross-training is a phenomenon related to motor learning, where motor performance of the untrained limb shows improvement in strength and skill execution following unilateral training of the homologous contralateral limb. We used functional MRI to investigate whether motor performance of the untrained limb could be improved using a serial reaction time task according to motor sequential learning of the trained limb, and whether these skill acquisitions led to changes in brain activation patterns. We recruited 20 right-handed healthy subjects, who were randomly allocated into training and control groups. The training group was trained in performance of a serial reaction time task using their non-dominant left hand, 40 minutes per day, for 10 days, over a period of 2 weeks. The control group did not receive training. Measurements of response time and percentile of response accuracy were performed twice during pre- and post-training, while brain functional MRI was scanned during performance of the serial reaction time task using the untrained right hand. In the training group, prominent changes in response time and percentile of response accuracy were observed in both the untrained right hand and the trained left hand between pre- and post-training. The control group showed no significant changes in the untrained hand between pre- and post-training. In the training group, the activated volume of the cortical areas related to motor function （i.e., primary motor cortex, premotor area, posterior parietal cortex） showed a gradual decrease, and enhanced cerebellar activation of the vermis and the newly activated ipsilateral dentate nucleus were observed during performance of the serial reaction time task using the untrained right hand, accompanied by the cross-motor learning effect. This study investigates the risks of non-conservative piping design according to ASME B31.1 for hightemperature piping subjected to long-term operation at high temperature in a creep regime based on a sensitivity analysis of the hold time. Design evaluations of hightemperature piping were conducted over a range of hold times in the creep regime according to ASME B31.1,which implicitly considers the creep effects, and the French high-temperature design code of the RCC-MRx, which explicitly considers the creep effects. Conservatisms were quantified among the codes in terms of the hold times. In the case of B31.1, the design evaluation results do not change depending on the hold time at high temperature,whereas in the case of RCC-MRx, they do. It was shown that the design limits of RCC-MRx were exceeded when the hold time exceeded certain values, whereas those of B31.1 were satisfied regardless of the hold times. Thus, the design evaluations according to B31.1 did not consistently yield conservative results and might lead to non-conservative results in the case of long-term operations in the creep range.

Atomic layer deposition （ALD） has become an essential deposition method for forming nanometer scale thin films in the microelectronics industry, and its applications have been extended to multi-component thin films, as well as to single metal oxide films. In order to investigate the development of the surface structure of ultra-thin film qualitatively as well as quantitatively, ALD processes are simulated with a molecular scale. For this simulation, the film materials are deposited on a imaginary substrate that consists of small lattice. The deposition behaviors are described by using random deposition （RD） model or random deposition with surface relaxation （RDSR） model as the ALD growth mode, and the proposed model was applied to the deposition of SrO-TiO2 thin films. Through this work, growth characteristics such as surface morphology, deposited film coverage can be predicted.

In this paper, we introduce an interface for motion editing that visualizes editing procedures. For intuitive understanding and construction of motion editing procedures, our system represents an editing element that produces modified motion from a given input motion as a graphical node, and enables user to construct a whole motion editing procedure by connecting the nodes with a few mouse interactions. The system provides both the 3D transform manipulator and the time-line slider for intuitive controlling of the parameters of each node. The user evaluation results show that our system is easy and intuitive to be used by users for editing of motion sequences.

Anion exchange membrane(AEM)water electrolyzers are promising energy devices for the production of clean hydrogen from ***,the lack of active and robust electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)severely impedes the development of this *** this study,a ternary layered double hydroxide(LDH)OER electrocatalyst(NiFeCo-LDH)is developed for high-performance AEM alkaline seawater *** AEM alkaline seawater electrolyzer catalyzed by the NiFeCo LDH shows high seawater electrolysis performance(0.84 A/cm^(2)at 1.7 Vcell)and high hydrogen production efficiency(77.6%at 0.5 A/cm^(2)),thus outperforming an electrolyzer catalyzed by a benchmark IrO_(2)*** NiFeCo-LDH electrocatalyst greatly improves the kinetics of the AEM alkaline seawater electrolyzer,consequently reducing its activation loss and leading to high *** on the results,this NiFeCo-LDH-catalyzed AEM alkaline seawater electrolyzer can likely surpass the energy conversion targets of the US Department of Energy.

Decellularized sciatic nerve matrix as a biodegradable conduit for peripheral nerve regeneration

The use of autologous nerve grafts remains the gold standard for treating nerve defects, but current nerve repair techniques are limited by donor tissue availability and morbidity associated with tissue loss. Recently, the use of conduits in nerve injury repair, made possible by tissue engineering, has shown therapeutic potential. We manufactured a biodegradable, collagen-based nerve conduit containing decellularized sciatic nerve matrix and compared this with a silicone conduit for peripheral nerve regeneration using a rat model. The collagen-based conduit contains nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and laminin, as demonstrated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Scanning electron microscopy images showed that the collagen-based conduit had an outer wall to prevent scar tissue infiltration and a porous inner structure to allow axonal growth. Rats that were implanted with the collagen-based conduit to bridge a sciatic nerve defect experienced significantly improved motor and sensory nerve functions and greatly enhanced nerve regeneration compared with rats in the sham control group and the silicone conduit group. Our results suggest that the biodegradable collagen-based nerve conduit is more effective for peripheral nerve regeneration than the silicone conduit.
