Recent evidence suggests that admission hypergly- cemia has deleterious effects on the survival and functional outcome of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage （ICH）. In this study, we first induced acute hyperglycemia in male adult Sprague-Dawley rats by intraperitoneal injection of 50% glucose （6 mL/kg）, and created the ICH model thereafter by delivering autologous whole blood or homologous normal- glucose blood into the right basal ganglia. Twenty- four hours later, we assessed the neurological injury, evaluated the hematoma and brain water content, and investigated autophagy. We found elevations of neurological deficit scores, brain water content, and microtubule-associated protein light chain-3 （LC3） and beclin-1 protein levels, and decreased SQSTM1/ p62 levels after ICH with normal-glucose blood （without hyperglycemia）. Acute hyperglycemia with ICH of high-glucose blood hematoma was associated with significantly increased forelimb-use asymmetry test scores, brain water content and SQSTM1/p62 protein levels, and evident decreases in the ratio of LC3-11/LC3-1 and beclin-1 protein levels. On the other hand, acute hyperglycemia and ICH with normal- glucose blood hematoma only slightly increased the neurological deficit scores and brain water content （P 〉0.05）. In conclusion, the autophagy pathway was activated after ICH, and acute hyperglycemia with hematoma of high-glucose blood exacerbates the neurological injury, and reduces autophagy around the hematoma.

AIM To compare the outcomes between laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication(LNF)and proton pump inhibitors(PPIs)therapy in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux(LPR)and typeⅠhiatal hernia diagnosed by oropharyngeal p H-monitoring and symptom-scale *** From February 2014 to January 2015,70 patients who were diagnosed with LPR and type I hiatal hernia and referred for symptomatic assessment,oropharyngeal p H-monitoring,manometry,and gastrointestinal endoscopy were enrolled in this *** of the patients met the inclusion *** of the patients underwent LNF or PPIs administration,and completed a2-year ***’baseline characteristics and primary outcome measures,including comprehensive and single symptoms of LPR,PPIs independence,and satisfaction,and postoperative complications were *** outcomes of LNF and PPIs therapy were analyzed and compared. AIM: To compare the outcomes between the Stretta procedure and laparoscopic toupet fundoplication(LTF) in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)-related extra-esophageal ***: From January 2011 to February 2012, a total of 98 patients diagnosed with GERD-related extra-esophageal symptoms who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled in this study. All patients who either underwent the Stretta procedure or LTF treatment have now completed the 3-year follow-up. Primary outcome measures, including frequency and severity of extra-esophageal symptoms, proton pump inhibitor(PPI) use, satisfaction, and postoperative complications, were assessed. The results of the Stretta procedure and LTF therapy were analyzed and ***: There were 47 patients in the Stretta group and 51 patients in the LTF group. Ninety patients were available at the 3-year follow-up. The total of the frequency and severity scores for every symptom improved in both groups(P 0.05). However, the score for globus hysterics was different between the Stretta group and the LTF group(4.9 ± 2.24 vs 3.2 ± 2.63, P < 0.05). After the Stretta procedure and LTF treatment, 29 and 33 patients in each group achieved PPI therapy independence(61.7% vs 64.7%, P = 0.835). The patients in the LTF group were more satisfied with their quality of life than those in the Stretta procedure group(P < 0.05). Most complications resolved without intervention within two weeks; however, two patients in the LTF group still suffered from severe dysphagia 2 wk after the operation, and it improved after bougie dilation treatment in both ***: The Stretta procedure and LTF were both safe and effective for the control of GERD-related extra-esophageal symptoms and the reduction of PPI use.

ESPITE the strong association between gastroesophageal reflux disease （GERD） and asthma has been undisputedly established and widely recognized by experts in advanced countries. Yet few topics in medicine are as controversial as the causal relationship between GERD and asthma： some argue that GERD causes asthma, while others think the other way around is true, still quite a few believe that bronchodilator medications are to blame. This controversy continues to be a conundrum or more piece of the puzzle.1 We would like to share two thoughts which might be a belated revelation with scholars and experts and invite them for further cooperative studies： the GERD-derived respiratory distress is not asthma, but GERD pure and simple; and the pathogenesis of respiratory distress is not asthma, but laryngotracheal irritation/spasm/suffocation.

The diagnosis of asthma requires the presence of episodic respiratory difficulties characterized by variable and reversible airway obstruction. It has a high prevalence worldwide and is traditionally considered to be an allergic disease. Most cases are responsive to treatment with bronchodilators and anti-inflammatories, as recommendedby national and international guidelines; however, appro-ximately 10% of asthmatic patients are refractory even to optimal therapy. Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) is a common disorder in asthmatic patients and the two disorders may be linked pathophysiologically. Here we review data from preliminary studies that suggest asthma could be induced or exacerbated by gastroesophageal reflux. The optimal strategies for the diagnosis of GERDrelated asthma and its therapy are still debated. However, there is evidence to suggest that antireflux treatment is effective and practical for asthmatic patients with welldefined reflux disease.

Mechanism Study on the Effect of Retarder on Polyurethane Setting Time Based on Molecular Simulation

This study identified castor oil and phosphate ester as effective retarders through setting time,tensile,and flexural tests,and determined their optimal *** mechanism by which phosphate ester affects the setting time of polyurethane was further investigated using molecular dynamics *** transform infrared spectroscopy was also employed to systematically study the physical and chemical interactions between phosphate esters and polyurethane *** results demonstrate that a 1%concentration of phosphate ester provides the most effective retarding effect with minimal impact on the strength of *** phosphate ester is added to the B component of the two-component polyurethane system,its interaction energy with component A decreases,as do the diffusion coefficient and aggregation degree of component B on the surface of component *** reduction in interaction slows the setting ***,the addition of phosphate ester to polyurethane leads to the disappearance or weakening of functional groups,indicating competitive interactions within the phosphate ester components that inhibit the reaction rate.

Porous organic cages(POCs)with permanent porosity and excellent host–guest property hold great potentials in regulating ion transport behavior,yet their feasibility as solid-state electrolytes has never been testified in a practical ***,we design and fabricate a quasi-solid-state electrolyte(QSSE)based on a POC to enable the stable operation of Li-metal batteries(LMBs).Benefiting from the ordered channels and cavity-induced anion-trapping effect of POC,the resulting POC-based QSSE exhibits a high Li+transference number of 0.67 and a high ionic conductivity of 1.25×10^(−4) S cm^(−1) with a low activation energy of 0.17 *** allow for homogeneous Li deposition and highly reversible Li plating/stripping for over 2000 *** a proof of concept,the LMB assembled with POC-based QSSE demonstrates extremely stable cycling performance with 85%capacity retention after 1000 ***,our work demonstrates the practical applicability of POC as SSEs for LMBs and could be extended to other energy-storage systems,such as Na and K batteries.

The paper presents experimental investigation results of crack pattern change in cement pastes caused by external sulfate attack(ESA).To visualize the formation and development of cracks in cement pastes under ESA,an X-ray computed tomography(X-ray CT)was used,i e,the tomography system of Zeiss Xradia 510 *** results indicate that X-CT can monitor the development process and distribution characteristics of the internal cracks of cement pastes under ESA with attack *** addition,the C3A content in the cement significantly affects the damage mode of cement paste specimens during sulfate *** damage of ordinary Portland cement(OPC)pastes subjected to sulfate attack with high C3A content are severe,while the damage of sulfate resistant Portland cement(SRPC)pastes is much smaller than that of OPC ***,a quadratic function describes the correlation between the crack volume fraction and development depth for two cement pastes immermed in sulfate solution.
