In-use product and steel stocks sustaining the urbanization of Xiamen, China

Introduction:In-use product and material stocks are the amount of concerned manufactured products and materials in active use,and are essential components of urban ***:This study estimates the dynamic in-use stocks of steel-containing products and steel in the city of Xiamen,China,during 1980–2015 by applying a bottom-up accounting *** incorporate 55 categories of steel-containing products that are classified into five end-use sectors(i.e.,buildings,infrastructure,transportation equipment,machinery,and domestic appliances).Outcomes and Discussion:In-use stocks of 51%of the studied products kept increasing during 1980–2015,especially after *** stocks have grown up to 4.9±1.4 tons per capita(t/cap)in 2015,from 0.5±0.2 t/cap in *** are the largest reservoirs,although its share decreased from 89%in 1980 to 68%in *** dynamic spatial distribution indicates that steel stocks gradually expanded from urban core to suburban ***:Theresults help to explore how a city’s urbanization is sustained by the in-use stocks ***-use steel stocks,of which the growth is highly correlated to and probably driven by the population growth,GDP increase,and urban built-up area expansion,may serve as a supplementary indicator for urbanization.

By using the extended hyperbolic function method, we have studied a quintic discrete nonlinear Schrodinger equation and obtained new exact localized solutions, including the discrete bright soliton solution, dark soliton solution, bright and dark soliton solution, alternating phase bright soliton solution, alternating phase dark soliton solution, and alternating phase bright and dark soliton solution, if a special relation is bound on the coefficients of the equation.

Complexation between DNA and Peptides with Precisely Controlled Charge Density and Distribution

Using three designed peptides with precisely-controlled charge density and three types of DNAs with different length and flexibility, the effect of charge density on the formation of PEC was studied. Highly charged（KKKK）5 interacts strongly with 21 bp ds DNA to form large complex, followed by precipitation; while the medium charged（KGKG）5 only form complex with 21 bp ds DNA at proper ＋/- charge ratios; and no prominent complex between weakly charged（KGGG）5 and 21 bp ds DNA is observed at the same conditions. Similar trend is observed when the peptides form complex with 2000 bp DNA or 21 nt ssD NA. It is also found that the complex formed by adding peptide to DNA is in random coil conformation, but the complex prepared by the inverse order is in molten globule state. Re-dissolution of the complex occurs only when DNA is added to peptides with similar or shorter length.

Plasma Oxytocin and Arginine-Vasopressin Levels in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in China: Associations with Symptoms

Autism spectrum disorder（ASD） is defined by impairments of social interaction and the presence of obsessive behaviors. The ＇＇twin＇＇ nonapeptides oxytocin（OXT） and arginine-vasopressin（AVP） are known to play regulatory roles in social behaviors. However, the plasma levels and behavioral relevance of OXT and AVP in children with ASD have seldom been investigated. It is also unknown whether their mothers have abnormal plasma peptide levels. Here, using well-established methods of neuropeptide measurement and a relatively large sample size, we determined the plasma levels of the two neuropeptides in 85 normal children, 84 children with ASD, and 31 mothers from each group of *** expected, children with ASD had lower plasma OXT levels than gender-matched controls（P = 0.028）. No such difference was found for plasma AVP concentrations. Correlation analysis showed that ASD children with higher plasma OXT concentrations tended to have less impairment of verbal communication（Rho =-0.22,P = 0.076）, while those with higher plasma AVP levels tended to have lower levels of repetitive use of objects（Rho =-0.231, P = 0.079）. Unlike the findings in children, maternal plasma OXT levels showed no group difference. However, plasma AVP levels in the mothers of ASD children tended to be lower than in the mothers of normal children（P = 0.072）. In conclusion, our results suggest that the OXT system is dysregulated in children with ASD, and that OXT and AVP levels in plasma seem to be associated with specific autistic symptoms. The plasma levels of OXT or AVP in mothers and their ASD children did not seem to change in the same direction.

Alteration of the esophageal microbiota in Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma

The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC) has increased in recent decades, and its 5-year survival rate is less than 20%. As a well-established precursor, patients with Barrett's esophagus(BE) have a persistent risk of progression to EAC. Many researchers have already identified some factors that may contribute to the development of BE and EAC, and the identified risks include gastroesophageal reflux(GER), male sex, older age, central obesity,tobacco smoking, Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) eradication, and the administration of proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) and antibiotics. The human gut harbors trillions of microorganisms, the majority of which are bacteria. These microorganisms benefit the human host in many ways, such as helping in digestion, assisting in the synthesis of certain vitamins, promoting the development of the gastrointestinal immune system, regulating metabolism and preventing invasion by specific pathogens. In contrast, microbial dysbiosis may play important roles in various diseases, such as inflammation and cancers. The composition of the microbiota located in the normal esophagus is relatively conserved without distinct microbial preferences in the upper, middle and lower esophagus. Six major phyla constitute the esophageal microbiota, including Firmicutes,Bacteroides, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Fusobacteria and TM7, similar to the oral microbiota. Streptococcus dominates the esophageal microbiota. However, the microbiota varies in different esophageal diseases compared to that in the healthy esophagus. The type Ⅰ microbiota, which is primarily composed of gram-positive bacteria, is closely associated with the normal esophagus, while type Ⅱ microbiota has enriched gram-negative bacteria and is mainly associated with the abnormal esophagus. Solitary Wave and Doubly Periodic Wave Solutions to Three-Dimensional Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov Equation

The generalized transformation method is utilized to solve three-dimensional Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov equation and construct a series of new exact solutions including kink-shaped and bell-shaped soliton solutions, trigonometric function solutions, and Jacobi elliptic doubly periodic solutions. Among them, the Jacobi elliptic periodic wave solutions exactly degenerate to the soliton solutions at a certain limit condition. Compared with the existing tanh methods and Jacobi function method, the method we used here gives more general exact solutions without much extra effort.

Preparation of nanometer FeCuP alloy and its application in decomposition of PH3

A new ternary Fe-based alloy catalyst FeCuP applied to decompose PH3 was prepared with low-cost material by chemical reduction deposition method. The properties of it were characterized by XRD, ICP and SEM. Its catalytic activity on the decomposition of PH3 and the decomposition conditions were studied. FeCuP alloy exhibits high thermal stabilities and high catalytic activity. Using it as catalyst, the decomposition temperature of phosphine decreases from over 800℃ to 400-500 ℃. The decomposition rate of phosphine achieved 100%.

Forecasting Scenario Generation for Multiple Wind Farms Considering Time-series Characteristics and Spatial-temporal Correlation

Scenario forecasting methods have been widely studied in recent years to cope with the wind power uncertainty problem. The main difficulty of this problem is to accurately and comprehensively reflect the time-series characteristics and spatial-temporal correlation of wind power generation. In this paper, the marginal distribution model and the dependence structure are combined to describe these complex characteristics. On this basis, a scenario generation method for multiple wind farms is proposed. For the marginal distribution model, the autoregressive integrated moving average-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity-t (ARIMA-GARCH-t) model is proposed to capture the time-series characteristics of wind power generation. For the dependence structure, a time-varying regular vine mixed Copula (TRVMC) model is established to capture the spatial-temporal correlation of multiple wind farms. Based on the data from 8 wind farms in Northwest China, sufficient scenarios are generated. The effectiveness of the scenarios is evaluated in 3 aspects. The results show that the generated scenarios have similar fluctuation characteristics, autocorrelation, and crosscorrelation with the actual wind power sequences.
