Atomic layer deposition （ALD） has become an essential deposition method for forming nanometer scale thin films in the microelectronics industry, and its applications have been extended to multi-component thin films, as well as to single metal oxide films. In order to investigate the development of the surface structure of ultra-thin film qualitatively as well as quantitatively, ALD processes are simulated with a molecular scale. For this simulation, the film materials are deposited on a imaginary substrate that consists of small lattice. The deposition behaviors are described by using random deposition （RD） model or random deposition with surface relaxation （RDSR） model as the ALD growth mode, and the proposed model was applied to the deposition of SrO-TiO2 thin films. Through this work, growth characteristics such as surface morphology, deposited film coverage can be predicted.

AIM：To evaluate the clinical outcomes of V4 c implantable collamer lens（Hole ICL） implantation with regard to the optical quality assessed according to different degrees of ***：This included 49 eyes that received conventional ICL and 94 eyes that received Hole *** eyes that received Hole ICL were divided into three groups according to the degree of decentering：group 1,central hole within 1 hole diameter（HD） from the pupil center;group 2,central hole within 1 HD to 2 HD;and group 3,central hole within 2 HD to 3 *** acuity（VA）,intraocular pressure（IOP）,and spherical equivalent（SE） values were assessed at 1wk,1 and 3mo after *** ocular modulation transfer function,Strehl ratio,objective scattering index,and higher order aberrations（HOAs） were measured for 4-mm pupils at 3mo after ***：There were no significant differences in VA,IOP,and SE among the conventional and Hole ICL *** regard to HOAs,values for coma and spherical aberrations showed no *** total HOA and trefoil values were significantly higher in group 2 than in group 1（P=0.02,0.03,respectively）.There were no significant differences among groups with regard to other optical quality parameter at 3mo after ***：Our results suggest that Hole ICL implantation provides satisfactory visual quality that is equivalent to that provided by conventional ICL,regardless of the presence of central hole and degree of decentering.

Relationship between intraocular pressure and parameters of obesity in ocular hypertension

AIM:To evaluate the correlation between intraocular pressure(IOP)and various obesity-related health factors in patients with ocular hypertension in ***:A total of 40850 subjects underwent age,sex,body weight,and height assessments and automated multiphasic tests,including non-contact tonometry,automated perimetry,fundus photography,systolic/diastolic blood pressure measurement,and evaluation of obesity-related health parameters such as obesity index,body mass index(BMI),a body shape index(ABSI),and waist-to-height ratio(WtHR).Subjects were divided into ocular hypertension group and normal IOP group according to IOP after matching of age and ***:Of 40850 participants,1515(3.7%)had ocular hypertension,and 1515 with normal IOP were selected as controls using propensity score *** mean IOP of control group was 15.3±2.3 mm Hg,compared with 23.3±1.6 mm Hg in ocular hypertension ***,obesity index,BMI,and WtHR in the ocular hypertension group were significantly higher than in the normal IOP group(P<0.001,P<0.001,P=0.009,P=0.002).IOP of ocular hypertension was positively correlated with obesity index(P=0.027)and BMI(P=0.016),whereas IOP of control was positively correlated with blood pressure(P<0.001,P=0.002),obesity index(P<0.001),BMI(P<0.001),and WHtR(P=0.002).Systolic blood pressure(β=0.022,P<0.001)and body weight(β=0.016,P=0.02)were precursors of IOP in normal subjects,but sex(male;β=-0.231,P=0.008)and obesity index(β=-0.007,P=0.017)were precursors of ocular hypertension according to multiple regression ***:Among various obesity-related health parameters,obesity index is the best indicator for further increase in IOP in ocular hypertension group.

Objective： To investigate the effects of the flower buds extract of Tussilago farfara Linné（Farfarae Flos; FF） on focal cerebral ischemia through regulation of inflammatory responses in activated microglia. Methods： Brain ischemia was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by a transient middle cerebral artery occlusion（t MCAO） for 90 min and reperfusion for 24 h. Twenty rats were randomly divided into 4 groups（n=5 per group）： normal, t MCAO-induced ischemic control, t MCAO plus FF extract 300 mg/kg-treated, and t MCAO plus MK-801 1 mg/kg-treated as reference drug. FF extract（300 mg/kg, p.o.） or MK-801（1 mg/kg, i.p.） was administered after reperfusion. Brain infarction was measured by 2,3,5,-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. Neuronal damage was observed by haematoxylin eosin, Nissl staining and immunohistochemistry using anti-neuronal nuclei（Neu N）, anti-glial fibril ary acidic protein（GFAP）, and antiCD11 b/c（OX42） antibodies in ischemic brain. The expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase（i NOS）, tumor necrosis factor（TNF-α）, and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 a（HIF-1α） were determined by Western blot. BV2 microglial cel s were treated with FF extract or its main bioactive compound, tussilagone with or without lipopolysaccharide（LPS）. Nitric oxide（NO） production was measured in culture medium by Griess assay. The expressions of i NOS, COX-2 and pro-inflammatory cytokines mRNA were analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The expression of i NOS, and COX-2 proteins, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2, JNK, and p38 MAPK and the nuclear expression of NF-κB p65 in BV2 cells were determined by Western blot. Results： FF extract significantly decreased brain infarctions in ischemic rats（P〈0.01）. The neuronal death and the microglia/astrocytes activation in ischemic brains were inhibited by FF extract. It showed diffusion restriction and peripheral rimenhancement on an arterial phase image, and progressive enhancement on portalvenous and delayed phase images. Distal pancreatectomy was performed. Long-term administration of scopolamine, a muscarinic receptor antagonist, can inhibit the survival of newly generated cells, but its effect on the proliferation, differentiation and migration of nerve cells in the adult mouse hippocampal dentate gyrus remain poorly understood. In this study, we used immunohistochemistry and western blot methods to weekly detect the biological behaviors of nerve cells in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of adult mice that received intraperito- neal administration of scopolamine for 4 weeks. Expression of neuronal nuclear antigen （NeuN; a neuronal marker） and Fluoro-]ade B （a marker for the localization of neuronal degeneration） was also detected. After scopolamine treatment, mouse hippocampal neurons did not die, and Ki-67 （a marker for proliferating cells）-immunoreactive cells were reduced in number and reac hed the lowest level at 4 weeks. Doublecortin （DCX; a marker for newly generated neurons）-im- munoreactive cells were gradually shortened in length and reduced in number with time. After scopolamine treatment for 4 weeks, nearly all of the 5-bromo-2＇-deoxyuridine （BrdU）-labeled newly generated cells were located in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus, but they did not migrate into the granule cell layer. Few mature BrdU/NeuN double-labeled cells were seen in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus. These findings suggest that long-term administration of scopolamine interferes with the proliferation, differentiation and migration of nerve cells in the adult mouse hippocampal dentate gyrus, but it does not induce cell death.

Background:Stent insertion for biliary decompression to relieve jaundice and subsequent biliary infection is necessary for patients with biliary obstruction caused by pancreatic cancer,and it is important to keep the stent patent as long as ***,few studies have compared stent patency in terms of chemotherapy in patients with pancreatic *** study aimed to evaluate the differences in stent patency in terms of recently evolving ***:Between January 2015 and May 2017,161 patients with pancreatic cancer who had undergone biliary stent insertion with a metal stent were retrospectively *** relationship between chemotherapy and stent patency was ***,overall survival according to the treatment,risk factors for stent patency,and long-term adverse events were ***:Median stent patency was 42 days for patients with the best supportive care and 217 days for patients with chemotherapy(conventional gemcitabine-based chemotherapy and folfirinox)(P<0.001).Furthermore,the folfirinox group showed the longest median stent patency and overall survival,with 283 days and 466 days,respectively(P<0.001)despite higher adverse events *** who underwent folfirinox chemotherapy after stent insertion had better stent patency in multivariate analysis(HR=0.26;95%CI:0.12–0.60;P=0.001).Conclusions:Compared with patients who received best supportive care only,patients who underwent chemotherapy after stent insertion had better stent *** prolonged stent patency can be expected for patients with folfirinox than conventional gemcitabine-based chemotherapy.

Ischemic preconditioning elicited by a non-fatal brief occlusion of blood flow has been applied for an experimental therapeutic strategy against a subsequent fatal ischemic insult. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effects of ischemic preconditioning（2-minute transient cerebral ischemia） on calbindin D28k immunoreactivity in the gerbil hippocampal CA1 area following a subsequent fatal transient ischemic insult（5-minute transient cerebral ischemia）. A large number of pyramidal neurons in the hippocampal CA1 area died 4 days after 5-minute transient cerebral ischemia. Ischemic preconditioning reduced the death of pyramidal neurons in the hippocampal CA1 area. Calbindin D28k immunoreactivity was greatly attenuated at 2 days after 5-minute transient cerebral ischemia and it was hardly detected at 5 days post-ischemia. Ischemic preconditioning maintained calbindin D28 k immunoreactivity after transient cerebral ischemia. These findings suggest that ischemic preconditioning can attenuate transient cerebral ischemia-caused damage to the pyramidal neurons in the hippocampal CA1 area through maintaining calbindin D28k immunoreactivity.
