Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare 4 techniques for arrival at a base after sprinting maximally to reach it: sliding head-first, sliding feet-first, running through the base without slowing, and stopping on the base. A secondary purpose of the study was to determine any advantage there may be to diving into first base to arrive sooner than running through the ***: Two high-definition video cameras were used to capture 3-dimensional kinematics of sliding techniques of 9 intercollegiate baseball players. Another video camera was used to time runs from first base to second in 4 counterbalanced conditions: running through the base, sliding head-first, sliding feet-first, and running to a stop. Mathematical modeling was used to simulate diving to first base such that the slide would begin when the hand touches the ***: Based upon overall results, the quickest way to the base is by running through it, followed by head-first, feet-first, and running to a ***: There was a non-significant trend toward an advantage for diving into first base over running through it, but more research is needed,and even if the advantage is real, the risks of executing this technique probably outweigh the miniscule gain.

In the past, Crohn’s disease (CD) has been understood primarily as an immunologic disorder characterized by an abnormal T-cell response. Recent in vitro and in vivo data suggests that CD may instead be precipitated by innate immune dysfunction resulting from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. some reports have demonstrated a defective immune response in a variety of other cellular components, including neutrophils, monocytes and dendritic cells. Recent studies of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM- CsF) in CD, aiming to stimulate the innate immune system with the conception that an innate immune defect underlies the development of the disease, have been demonstrated a clinical benefit and reinforce this evolving understanding of the disease.

One of the problems in virtual globes technologies is the real-time representation of vegetal *** forest or garden representations,the low detailed plants produce a lack of *** techniques are required to achieve accurate interactive visualisation due to the great number of polygons the vegetal species *** article presents a multi-resolution model based on a geometric representation of vegetal species that allows the application to perform the progressive transmission of the model,that is,the transmission of a simple representation followed by successive refinements of *** has a hardware-oriented design in order to obtain interactive frame *** geometric data of the objects are stored in the graphics processing unit and,moreover,the change from one approximation to another is obtained by performing mathematical calcula-tions in this graphics *** multi-resolution model presented here enables instancing:as many vegetal species as desired can be rendered with different levels of detail,while all of them are accessing the same geometric *** model has been used to build a real-time representation of a not imaginary scenario.

The human intestinal tract is home to an enormous bacterial flora. The host defense against microorganisms can be divided into innate and adaptive immunity. The former is the most immediate line of response to immunologic challenges presented by bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The mucosal immune system has evolved to balance the need to respond to pathogens while co-existing with commensal bacteria and food antigens. In inflammatory bowel disease （IBD）, this hyporesponsiveness or tolerance breaks down and inflammation supervenes driven by the intestinal microbial flora. Bacteria contain compounds and are recognized by a variety of receptors, including Toll-like receptors （TLRs） and NODs （a family of intracellular bacterial sensors） and are potent stimuli of innate immune responses. several mutations in these receptors have been associated with development of IBD.

Recognition of pathogens by Toll-like receptors （TLR） activate multiple signaling cascades and expression of genes tailored to mount a primary immune response, inflammation, cell survival and apoptosis. Although TLR-induced activation of pathways, such as nuclear factor kappaB （NF-κB） and mitogen-activated protein kinases （MAPK）, has been well studied, molecular entities controlling quantitative regulation of these pathways during an immune response remain poorly defined. We identified sam68 as a novel regulator of TLR-induced NF-κB and MAPK activation. We found that TLR2 and TLR3 are totally dependent, whereas TLR4 is only partially dependent on sam68 to induce the activation of NF-KB c-Rel. Absence of sam68 greatly decreased TLR2- and TLR3-induced NF-κB p65 activation, whereas TLR4- induced p65 activation in a sam68-independent manner. In contrast, sam68 appeared to be a negative regulator of MAPK pathways because absence of sam68 enhanced TLR2-induced activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases （ERK） and c-Jun N-terminal kinases （JNK）. Interestingly, TLR2- and TLR3-induced gene expression showed a differential requirement of sam68. Absence of sam68 impaired TLR2-induced gene expression, suggesting that sam68 has a critical role in myeloid differentiation primary response gene 88-dependent TLR2 signaling. TLR3-induced gene expression that utilize Toll/Interleukin-1 receptor-domain-containing adapter-inducing beta interferon pathway, depend only partially on sam68. Our findings suggest that sam68 may function as an immune rheostat that balances the activation of NF-κB p65 and c-Rel, as well as MAPK, revealing a potential novel target to manipulate TLR signaling.

The periaqueductal gray(PAG)is a complex mesencephalic structure involved in the integration and execution of active and passive self-protective behaviors against imminent threats,such as immobility or flight from a *** activity is also associated with the integration of responses against physical discomfort(e.g.,anxiety,fear,pain,and disgust)which occurs prior an imminent attack,but also during withdrawal from drugs such as morphine and *** PAG sends and receives projections to and from other well-documented nuclei linked to the phenomenon of drug addiction including:(i)the ventral tegmental area;(ii)extended amygdala;(iii)medial prefrontal cortex;(iv)pontine nucleus;(v)bed nucleus of the stria terminalis;and(vi)*** models have suggested that the PAG contributes to the modulation of anxiety,fear,and nociception(all of which may produce physical discomfort)linked with chronic exposure to drugs of *** produced by the major pharmacological classes of drugs of abuse is mediated through actions that include participation of the *** support of this,there is evidence of functional,pharmacological,***/or genetic alterations in the PAG during the impulsive/compulsive intake or withdrawal from a *** to its small size,it is difficult to assess the anatomical participation of the PAG when using classical neuroimaging techniques,so its phys-iopathology in drug addiction has been underestimated and poorly *** this theoretical review,we discuss the involvement of the PAG in drug addiction mainly via its role as an integrator of responses to the physical discomfort associated with drug withdrawal.

Three-phase induction motors are becoming increasingly utilized in industrialﬁeld due to their better efﬁciency and simple *** speed control of an induction motor is essential in a variety of applications,but it is dif-ﬁcult to *** research analyses the three-phase induction motor’s perfor-mance usingﬁeld-oriented control(FOC)and direct torque control(DTC)*** major aim of this work is to provide a critical evaluation of devel-oping a simple speed controller for induction motors with improving the perfor-mance of Induction Motor(IM).For controlling a motor,different optimization approaches are accessible;in this research,a Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC)with Fractional Order Darwinian Particle swarm Optimization(FODPsO)algorithm is presented to control the induction *** FOC and DTC are controlled using FODPsO,and their performance is compared to the traditional FOC and DTC *** scheme had its own simulation model,and the results were com-pared using hardware experimental and *** terms of time domain speciﬁcations and torque improvement,the proposed technique surpasses the existing method.

The application of gene transfer technologies to the treatment of cancer has led to the development of new experimental approaches like gene directed enzyme/pro- drug therapy (GDEPT), inhibition of oncogenes and restoration of tumor-suppressor genes. In addition, gene therapy has a big impact on other fields like cancer immunotherapy, anti-angiogenic therapy and virotherapy. These strategies are being evaluated for the treatment of primary and metastatic liver cancer and some of them have reached clinical phases. We present a review on the basis and the actual status of gene therapy approaches applied to liver cancer.

The World society for Virology(WsV) was founded and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the United states in 2017. WsV seeks to strengthen and support both virological research and virologists who conduct research of viruses that affect humans, other animals, plants, and other organisms. One of the objectives of WsV is to connect virologists worldwide and support collaboration. Fulfilling this objective, virologists from fourteen countries in North America,Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East met on 25–27 th August 2019 in stockholm, sweden at the Karolinska University Hospital for the first Committee Meeting of WsV. This meeting included compelling keynote and honorary speeches and a series of 18 scientific talks were given encompassing a diverse array of subjects within virology. Followed by the scientific session, a business session was held where multiple aspects and next steps of the society were discussed and charted out.

New light curves and photometric solutions of FP Lyn,FV CVn and V354 UMa are *** found that these three systems are W-subtype shallow contact *** addition,it is obvious that the light curves of FP Lyn and V354 UMa are ***,a hot spot was added on the primary star of FP Lyn and a dark spot was added on the secondary star of V354 *** the same time,we added a third light to the photometric solution of FP Lyn for the final *** obtained mass ratios and fill-out factors are q = 1.153 and f = 13.4% for FP Lyn,q = 1.075 and f = 4.6% for FV CVn,and q = 3.623 and f = 10.7% for V354 UMa *** investigations of orbital period for these three systems indicate that the periods are *** Lyn and V354 UMa were discovered to have secularly increasing components with rates of dp/dt = 4.19 ×10^-7 dyr^-1 and dp/dt = 7.70 ×10^-7 dyr^-1 respectively,which are feasibly caused by conservative mass transfer from the less massive component to the more massive *** addition,some variable components were discovered for FV CVn,including a rate of dp/dt =-1.13 ×10^-6 dyr^-1 accompanied by a cyclic oscillation with amplitude and period of 0.0069 d and 10.65 yr *** most likely explanation for the long-term decrease is angular momentum *** existence of an additional star is the most plausible explanation for the periodic variation.
