The collision of a divergent ocean ridge may evolve into two end cases： in the continuity of ocean-floor subduction, or in the detachment of the subducted plate. The northern Patagonia active plate margin has the unique situation that in Cenozoic time it has been subjected to two divergent ridge collisions, each one representing one of the end members. The Neogene Antarctica-Nazca divergent ridge collision evolved as a continuous ocean-floor subduction system, promoting a magmatic hiatus at the arc axis, the obduction of part of the ridge ocean-floor in the fore-arc, and basaltic volcanism in the back-arc. In contrast, the Paleogene Farallon-Aluk divergent ridge collision evolved into a transform margin, with the detachment and sinking of the Aluk plate and the development of a large slab window. As in the previous case, this collision promoted a magmatic hiatus at the arc axis, but the tectono-magmatic scenario changed to postorogenic synextensional volcanism that spread to the former fore-arc （basalt, andesite, rhyolite） and former back-arc （bimodal ignimbrite flare-up, basalt）. Geochemistry of this slab window synextensional volcanism shows more MORB-like basalts towards the former fore-arc, and MORB-OIB-Iike basalts towards the former back-arc. Instead, an isolated undeformable crustal block in the former back-arc, with an ＂epeirogenic＂ response to the slab window and extensional regime, was covered by OIB-type basalts after uplift. Major elements show that slab window basalts reach TiO2 values up to 3 wt%, as compared with the top value of 1.5 wt% of arc magmas. Besides, the MgO with respect to （FeOt ＋ A1203） ratio helps to distinguish slab window magma changes from the former fore-arc to the former back-arc and also with respect to the ＂epeirogenic＂ block. Higher contents of HFs elements such as Nb and Ta also help to distinguish this slab window from arc magmas and also, to distinguish slab window magma changes from the former fore-arc to the former back-arc

We uncover the existence of a universal phenomenon concerning the electromagnetic optical force exerted by light or other electromagnetic waves on a distribution of charges and currents in general,and of particles in *** conveys the appearence of underlying reactive quantities that hinder radiation pressure and currently observed timeaveraged *** constitutes a novel paradigm of the mechanical effciency of light on matter,and completes the landscape of the optical,and generally electromagnetic,force in photonics and classical electrodynamics;widening our understanding in the design of both llumination and particles in optical manipulation without the need of increasing the illuminating power,and thus lowering dissipation and *** show that this may be accomplished through the minimization of what we establish as the reactive strength of orbital(or canonical)momentum,which plays against the optical force a role analogous to that of the reactive power versus the radiation effciency of an *** long time overlooked quantity,important for current progress of optical manipulation,and that stems from the complex Maxwell theorem of conservation of complex momentum that we put forward,as well as its alternating flow associated to the imaginary part of the complex Maxwell stress tensor,conform the imaginary Lorentz force that we introduce in this work,and that like the reactive strength of orbital momentum,is antagonistic to the well-known time-averaged force;thus making this reactive Lorentz force indirectly observable near wavelengths at which the time-averaged force is *** Minkowski and Abraham momenta are also addressed.

Contralateral axillary metastasis:is surgical treatment the best option?

Contralateral axillary metastasis (CAM) is a rare entity normally treated as a systemic disease. Recent publications have proposed aggressive surgical treatment with benefits to the patients in terms of survival. We present a case of a 74-year-old patient with a history of unilateral breast cancer, recurrence on the ipsilateral breast and then development of a CAM. The patient was treated with aggressive surgical treatment, but she developed an early recurrence of the disease with distant metastasis. There is limited evidence of the correct management of CAM, although proposed to treat it as a loco regional disease, individualized and multidisciplinary management is the best option for these patients.

Magnetic field assisted fluidization:A modified Richardson-Zaki equation

Magnetic particles can be uniformly fluidized by coupling the gas flow with an externally imposed magnetic field. Interparticle forces generated by the magnetic field cause aggregation of the particles in chain-like structures preferentially oriented along the magnetic field lines. In the present paper, we study the implications of the formation of these special types of aggregates on the empirical Richardson-Zaki （RZ） equation, originally proposed to describe the expansion of fluidized beds of non-aggregated particles. We have addressed two important issues, namely the flow regime, which is a function of the size of the aggregates, and the effect of shape and orientation of the chain-like aggregates with respect to gas flow on fluid drag. We propose a modified RZ equation （MRZE） in which the velocity scale, given by the terminal settling velocity of the individual aggregates, and the RZ exponent are predetermined as a function of the chain length. The chain length depends on the ratio of the magnetic energy to gravitational energy, and is estimated from the magnetic field intensity, and particle magnetization, size and density. Predictions of the MRZE are successfully compared with published results in the literature on the expansion of magnetic particles in the presence of externally applied magnetic fields.

Prevalence and incidence of interatrial block in global population and in different clinical situations

The high prevalence of interatrial block （IAB） is widely neglected due to its frequent underdiaguosis. Its prevalence depends mainly on age and also on the presence of associ- ated heart disease. In patients without structural heart dis- ease, it is mainly an elderly condition. This is particularly true for advanced IAB, rarely found in global population before 65 years but with prevalence of 8% in the 70＇s and 25% in centenarians,tll When studying prevalence data of this condition, three factors should be taken into account in order to interpret differences that are frequently related with the methodology used （Table 1, Figure 1）.

Role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and platelet-tolymphocyte ratios in Peyronie’s disease: a new diagnostic approach to predict the stage of the disease?

Peripheral refraction of myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction and lens free emmetropes during accommodation

Purpose:To measure axial and off-axis refraction patterns in myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction and lens free emmetropes in young healthy subjects at different target distances from 2.00 m(0.50 D)to 0.20 m(5.00 D)in terms of sphere,astigmatism,and spherical equivalent ***:Refraction was measured at the center,20 and 40 degrees from the line of sight both nasally and temporally in 15 emmetropic and 25 myopic young healthy subjects with an open field,binocular,infrared autorefractor(Grand seiko WAM-5500,Hiroshima,Japan).Fixation target was a Maltese cross set at 2.00,0.50,0.33 and 0.20 m from the corneal *** in off-axis refraction with accommodation level were normalized with respect to distance axial values and compared between myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction and lens free ***:Off-axis refraction in myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction was significantly more myopic in the temporal retina compared to lens free emmetropes except for the closest target *** off-axis refractive error changed significantly with accommodation when compared to axial refraction particularly in the myopic *** change in the negative direction was due to changes in the spherical component of refraction that became more myopic relative to the center at the 0.20 m distance as the J0 component of astigmatism was significantly reduced in both emmetropes and myopes for the closest ***:Accommodation to very near targets(up to 0.20 m)makes the off-axis refraction of myopes wearing their spectacle correction similar to that of lens free emmetropes.A significant reduction in off-axis astigmatism was also observed for the 0.20 m distance.

Optimal Positioning strategy for Multi-Camera Zooming Drones

In the context of multiple-target tracking and surveillance applications,this paper investigates the challenge of determining the optimal positioning of a single autonomous aerial vehicle or agent equipped with multiple independently-steerable zooming cameras to effectively monitor a set of targets of *** camera is dedicated to tracking a specific target or cluster of *** key innovation of this study,in comparison to existing approaches,lies in incorporating the zooming factor for the onboard cameras into the optimization *** enhancement offers greater flexibility during mission execution by allowing the autonomous agent to adjust the focal lengths of the onboard cameras,in exchange for varying real-world distances to the corresponding targets,thereby providing additional degrees of freedom to the optimization *** proposed optimization framework aims to strike a balance among various factors,including distance to the targets,verticality of viewpoints,and the required focal length for each *** primary focus of this paper is to establish the theoretical groundwork for addressing the non-convex nature of the optimization problem arising from these *** this end,we develop an original convex approximation *** paper also includes simulations of diverse scenarios,featuring varying numbers of onboard tracking cameras and target motion profiles,to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Artificial neural network with a cross-validation approach to blast-induced ground vibration propagation modeling

Given their technical and economic advantages,the application of explosive substances to rock mass excavation is widely ***,because of serious environmental restraints,there has been an increasing need to use complex tools to control environmental effects due to blast-induced ground *** the present study,an artificial neural network(ANN)with k-fold cross-validation was applied to a dataset containing 1114 observations that was obtained from published results;furthermore,quantitative and qualitative parameters were considered for ground vibration amplitude *** best ANN model obtained has a maximum coefficient of determination of 0.840 and a mean absolute error of 5.59 and it comprises 17 input parameters,12 neurons in a one-layer hidden layer,and a sigmoid transfer *** with the traditional models,the model obtained using the proposed methodology demonstrated better generalization ***,the proposed methodology offers an ANN model with higher prediction ability.
