Drought is a common occurre.ce.in many arid and se.i-arid re.ions that can have.large.ne.ative.impacts on wate. re.ource. and agricultural production. Since.agricultural drought is affe.te. by both wate. supply and de.and (pre.ipitation and e.apotranspiration), it is be.e.icial to include.both in agricultural drought monitoring. The.Standardize. Pre.ipitation-e.apotranspiration Inde. (SPe.) was found to be.a suitable.drought inde. for monitoring agricultural drought. In this study, the.SPe. calculate. from agro-me.e.rological we.the. stations was use. to de.e.mine.e.ce.dance.probabilitie. at five.le.e.s in the.Te.as High Plains. In addition, the.kriging me.hod was use. to inte.polate.be.we.n the.stations to ge.e.ate.spatial maps for the.e.ce.dance.probabilitie.. No significant diffe.e.ce. we.e.found be.we.n stations, indicating any station should be.suitable.to re.re.e.t the.Te.as High Plains. Re.ults showe. drought conditions occurre. at all five.probability le.e.s during the.summe. growing se.son for this re.ion. Although diffe.e.ce. we.e.not significantly diffe.e.t, the.inte.polate. maps showe. a tre.d whe.e.minor diffe.e.ce. in the.SPe. value. we.e.associate. with the.We.t-e.st pre.ipitation gradie.t. Howe.e., the.e.was no tre.d associate. with the.North-South air te.pe.ature.gradie.t. A risk analysis showe. that the.SPe. probability value. can provide.policy and de.ision make.s with additional information for be.te. wate. manage.e.t in the.Te.as High Plains.
