The Unsteady Adaptive stochastic Finite Elements(UAsFE)approach is a robust and efficient uncertainty quantification method for resolving the effect of random parameters in unsteady *** this paper,it is shown that the underlying Adaptive stochastic Finite Elements(AsFE)method for steady problems based on Newton-Cotes quadrature in simplex elements is extrema diminishing(ED).It is also shown that the method is total variation diminishing(TVD)for one random parameter and for multiple random parameters for first degree Newton-Cotes *** is proven that the interpolation of oscillatory samples at constant phase in the UAsFE method for unsteady problems results in a bounded error as function of the phase for periodic responses and under certain conditions also in a bounded error in *** two methods are applied to a steady transonic airfoil flow and a transonic airfoil flutter problem.

The applicability of statistical typologies that capture farming systems diversity in innovation and development projects would increase if their adaptability would be enhanced,so that newly encountered farms can be classified and used to update the *** this paper we propose Naıve Bayesian(NB)classification as a method to allocate farms to types by using only a few variables,thus allowing the addition of new entries to a *** show for two example datasets that the performance of NB classification is already acceptable when 50% of the original survey dataset to construct the typology is used for training the NB *** our datasets,the performance of Naı¨ve Bayesian classification was improved when probabilities for observations to belong to multiple types were used,requiring a sample size of 30% of the survey *** on the results in this paper,we argue that NB classification is a powerful and promising statistical approach to increase the adaptability and usability of farm typologies.

Intrinsic factors such as leg length,arm length,flexibility and training history are factors that may be relevant to the optimisation of the individual bicycle configuration *** fitting methods do not always take all these variables into account,and as yet there have been limited studies examining how these variables can affect the cyclist's position on the *** main aims of this study were to establish how individual anthropometrics,training history and flexibility may influence cyclists'freely chosen bicycle configuration,and to determine the full-body static flexion angles chosen by cyclists on the *** well-trained male cyclists were recruited for the study.A multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to predict the four main configurations of a bicycle(saddle height,saddle setback,handlebar reach and handlebar drop)based on individual anthropometrics,flexibility and training *** joint kinematic ranges for the knee(36°±7°)and elbow(19°±8°)joint supported previous ***(77°±5°)and shoulder(112°±7°)joint angles should be determined as true clinical *** leg length(psion Angle test(pschober test(p=0.04)were significant predictors for determining saddle *** flexibility can be used to predict handlebar drop(p=0.01).A cyclist who wishes to adopt a more aerodynamic position with an increased handlebar drop should aim to improve their hamstring flexibility.

Fermented liquid feed for pigs： an ancient technique for the future

Fermented liquid feed is feed that has been mixed with water at a ratio ranging from 1：1.5 to 1：4. By mixing with water lactic acid bacteria and yeasts naturally occurring in the feed proliferate and produce lactic acid, acetic acid and ethano which reduces the pH of the mixture. This reduction in pH inhibits pathogenic organisms from developing in the feed. In addition, when this low pH mixture is fed, it reduces the pH in the stomach of pigs and prevents the proliferation of pathogens such as coliforms and salmonella in the gastrointestinal tract. For piglets, the use of fermented liquid feed offers the possibility of simultaneously providing feed and water, which may facilitate an easier transition from sow＇s milk to solid feed. secondly, offering properly produced fermented liquid feed may strengthen the role of the stomach as the first line of defense against possible pathogenic infections by lowering the pH in the gastrointestinal tract thereby helping to exclude enteropathogens. Finally, feeding fermented liquid feed to pigs has been shown to improve the performance of suckling pigs, weaner pigs and growing-finishing pigs. In this review, current knowledge about the use of fermented liquid feed in pig diets will be discussed. This will include a discussion of the desirable properties of fermented liquid feed and factors affecting fermentation. In addition, advantages and disadvantages of fermented liquid feed will be discussed including its effects on gastrointestinal health, intestinal pH and the types of bacteria found in the gastrointestinal tract as well as the effects of fermented liquid feeds on pig performance.

Many advances have been made in the understanding of Crohn’s disease (CD) pathogenesis during the last decade. CD is currently seen as a predominantly T-lym-phocyte-driven disease characterized by the presence of a complex cocktail of interacting cytokines, chemokines and other mediators produced by a variety of cell types. Prevailing theories of CD pathogenesis suggest that patients’ T-lymphocytes are inappropriately activated in the setting of an immune imbalance, which is itself caused by an unfortunate confluence of genetic and en- vironmental factors. The T-cell response then leads to the chronic inflammation characteristic for the disease. Various environmental factors may play a role in the development of CD, but microbes are most consistently implied. This theory is based on epidemiological, clinico- pathological, genetic and experimental evidence. Despite the abundance of arguments for the implication of bac-teria in the aetiopathogenesis of CD, the precise role of bacteria in this disease still remains elusive. Three not necessarily mutually exclusive theories have been pro- posed: (1) an unidentified persistent pathogen; (2) an abnormally permeable mucosal barrier leading to exces-sive bacterial translocation; and (3) a breakdown in the balance between putative "protective" versus "harmful" intestinal bacteria ("dysbiosis"). At present, one cannot exclude with certainty any of these three proposed hy-potheses; they may all apply to CD to a certain extent.

RasGRP proteins are activators of Ras and other related small GTPases by the virtue of functioning as guanine nucleotide exchange factors （GEFs）. In vertebrates, four RasGRP family members have been described. RasGRP-1 through -4 share many structural domains but there are also subtle differences between each of the different family members. Whereas sOs RasGEFs are ubiquitously expressed, RasGRP proteins are expressed in distinct patterns, such as in different cells of the hematopoietic system and in the brain. Most studies have concentrated on the role of RasGRP proteins in the development and function of immune cell types because of the predominant RasGRP expression profiles in these cells and the immune phenotypes of mice deficient for Rasgrp genes. However, more recent studies demonstrate that RasGRPs also play an important role in tumorigenesis. Examples are skin- and hematological- cancers but also solid malignancies such as melanoma or prostate cancer. These novel studies bring up many new and unanswered questions related to the molecular mechanism of RasGRP-driven oncogenesis, such as new receptor systems that RasGRP appears to respond to as well as regulatory mechanisms for RasGRP expression that appear to be perturbed in these cancers. Here we will review some of the known aspects of RasGRP biology in lymphocytes and will discuss the exciting new notion that RasGRP Ras exchange factors play a role in oncogenesis downstream of various growth factor receptors.
