A field experiment was co.ducted to.study the effects o. weeds co.tro. metho.s and an irrigatio. mo.el o. rice gro.th as well as water co.sumptio. and weed quantity in the paddy *** co.ventio.al paddy rice pro.uctio.,o.e o. the mo.t impo.tant irrigated cro.s,a significant amo.nt o. irrigatio. water is lo.t due to.perco.atio. and evapo.atio..A new irrigatio. mo.el called the Rain-Catching and Co.tro.led Irrigatio.(RCCI)mo.el has been develo.ed as a viable water-saving techno.o.y in the pro.uctio. o. paddy *** this study the perfo.mance o. the RCCI mo.el has been analyzed under mulching,hand weeding and weedy co.ditio.s in Jiangsu Pro.ince o. *** experiment was laid o.t in Rando.ized Co.plete Blo.k Design(RCBD)with three replicatio.s and nine *** three replicates co.sisted o. three water management regimes:high dry high flo.ding(HD-HF),high dry lo. flo.ding(HD-LF),and shallo. and frequent irrigatio.(SF)water *** RCCI mo.el was ado.ted in HD-HF and HD-LF while Flo.ding Irrigatio.(CFI)was ado.ted in SF as a *** nine treatments were equally divided under mulching,hand weeding and weedy *** lo.est and maximum irrigatio. water delivery was 244.86 mm in mulching and 429.22 mm in hand weeding,respectively at *** the lo.est and maximum irrigatio. water delivery was 300.1 mm in the mulching field and 680.72 mm under hand weeding,respectively at *** Nanjing 44 rice variety was *** was o.served that weed density and dry weight were significantly influenced by the amo.nt o. irrigatio. water in all the mulching,hand weeding and weedy *** yield and the number o. irrigatio.s,the RCCI mo.el pro.uced better results than *** under RCCI was an effective metho. to.co.tro. weeds and reduce labo. *** additio.,mulching decreases the use o. herbicides and the risk o. *** the o.her hand,mulching co.ld impro.e yield and save water.

o.jective： This study investigated the acute and subacute to.icity o. who.e-plant aqueo.s extract o. Verno.ia mespilifo.ia Less. （AEVM） in rats fo. evaluating its safety pro.ile. Metho.s： AEVM fo. the acute （2000 and 5000 mg/kg） and subacute （200, 400 and 600 mg/kg） to.icity studies was administered o.ally to.rats acco.ding the guidelines 425 and 407 o. o.ganizatio. fo. Eco.o.ic Co.peratio. and Develo.ment, respectively. Fo.d and water intake as well as bo.y and o.gan weight o. animals were reco.ded. Signs o. to.icity were assessed, and hemato.o.ical, bio.hemical and histo.atho.o.ical analyses were perfo.med. Results： In the acute to.icity study, a single do.e o. the aqueo.s extract at 2000 o. 5000 mg/kg caused no.mo.tality in the animals, suggesting that the median lethal do.e is greater than 5000 mg/kg. In the subacute to.icity study, administratio. o. the extract fo. 28 d, at all do.es, caused no.significant changes in the bo.y weights o. o.gan weights o. rats in the treated gro.ps when co.pared with the co.tro. gro.p. In additio., hemato.o.ical and bio.hemical parameters also.revealed no.to.ic effects o. the extract o. rats. Histo.o.ical sectio.s o. the heart, liver and kidney fro. test animals sho.ed no.signs o. degen- eratio.. The antio.idant activity was examined using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl,2,2’-azino.bis-(3-ethylbenzo.hiazo.ine-6-sulpho.ic acid) diammo.ium salt, nitric o.ide and hydro.en pero.ide assays. The antimicro.ial activity was determined by agar dilutio. metho. using minimum inhibito.y co.centratio. against 3 g po.itive and three gram negative strains while fo.r fungal strains were also.***: To.al pheno., flavo.o.ds, pro.ntho.yanidin and tannin co.tents ranged fro.(5.32 ± 0.01) to.10.51 ± 0.01) mg GAE/g;(42.58 ± 0.02) to.529.23 ± 0.01) mg QE/g;(15.05 ± 0.00) to.585.64 ± 0.00) mg CE/g and(0.301 ± 0.010) to.0.937 ± 0.000) mg TAE/g, respectively.
