A research arena(WARA-PS)for sensing,data fusion,user interaction,planning and control of collaborative autonomous aerial and surface vehicles in public safety applications is *** objective is to demonstrate scientific discoveries and to generate new directions for future research on autonomous systems for societal *** enabler is a computational infrastructure with a core system architecture for industrial and academic *** includes a control and command system together with a framework for planning and executing tasks for unmanned surface vehicles and aerial *** motivating application for the demonstration is marine search and rescue operations.A state-of-art delegation framework for the mission planning together with three specific applications is also *** first one concerns model predictive control for cooperative rendezvous of autonomous unmanned aerial and surface *** second project is about learning to make safe real-time decisions under uncertainty for autonomous vehicles,and the third one is on robust terrain-aided navigation through sensor fusion and virtual reality tele-operation to support a GPS-free positioning system in marine *** research results have been experimentally evaluated and demonstrated to industry and public sector audiences at a marine test *** would be most difficult to do experiments on this large scale without the WARA-PS research ***,these demonstrator activities have resulted in effective research dissemination with high public visibility,business impact and new research collaborations between academia and industry.

Despite multiple theories on the pathogenesis of pain in chronic pancreatitis,no uniform and consistently successful treatment strategy exists and abdominal pain still remains the dominating symptom for most patients and a major challenge for *** theories focussed on a mechanical cause of pain related to anatomical changes and evidence of increased ductal and interstitial *** observations form the basis for surgical and endoscopic drainage procedures,but the outcome is variable and often *** underscores the fact that other factors must contribute to pathogenesis of pain,and has shifted the focus towards a more complex neurobiological understanding of pain *** other explanations for pain,experimental and human studies have provided evidence that pain perception at the peripheral level and central pain processing of the nociceptive information is altered in patients with chronic pancreatitis,and resembles that seen in neuropathic and chronic pain ***,pain due to e.g.,complications to the disease and adverse effects to treatment must not be overlooked as an additional source of *** review outlines the current theories on pain generation in chronic pancreatitis which is crucial in order to understand the complexity and limitations of current therapeutic ***,it may also serve as an inspiration for further research and development of methods that can evaluate the relative contribution and interplay of different pain mechanisms in the individual patients,before they are subjected to more or less empirical treatment.

The Character and Formation of Elongated Depressions on the Upper Bulgarian Slope

Seafloor elongated depressions are indicators of gas seepage or slope instability. Here we report a sequence of slopeparallel elongated depressions that link to headwalls of sediment slides on upper slope. The depressions of about 250 m in width and several kilometers in length are areas of focused gas discharge indicated by bubble-release into the water column and methane enriched pore waters. Sparker seismic profiles running perpendicular and parallel to the coast, show gas migration pathways and trapped gas underneath these depressions with bright spots and seismic blanking. The data indicate that upward gas migration is the initial reason for fracturing sedimentary layers. In the top sediment where two young stages of landslides can be detected, the slopeparallel sediment weakening lengthens and deepens the surficial fractures, creating the elongated depressions in the seafloor supported by sediment erosion due to slope-parallel water currents.

The Digital Elevation model （DEm） based on the historical sea-charts and on-site hydrological records were used to examine the morphological change of the Elbe River estuary. The results show that siltation predominated in the tidal flat in the northern estuary, with a net siltation rate of 1.8 cm· a^-1 during 1927-2006. In contrast, a continuous erosion prevailed in the main river channel, south of the estuary, with a net erosion rate of 2.5 cm· a^-1 in the same time. In addition, a seaward shift of the estuarine island has happened with the old island coalescing to the northern tidal flat and new one emerging through siltation process. The tidal asymmetry via ebbing flow （maximum at 140 cm· s^-1, and average at 76 cm· s^-1） prevailed in the tidal flat, meaning continuous aggradation northwestward, while flooding flow （maximum at 100 cm · s^-1, and average at 67 cm· s^-1） dominated in the main fiver channel with deepening thaweg at south, showing a landward sedimentation via the tidal pumping processes. This dextral extension of the estuarine morphology is due to the Coriolis force, leading to the inconsistent directions of in-out flows, which enables to facilitate the estuarine siltation. Human dredging prevailing in the estuary has dramatically altered the nature of the silted river channel to erosional since the last century net erosion rate of 3.2 cm· a^-1 This is characterized by a derived from the DEms mapping, but only partially accounting for the dredging amount of 1994-2006, when the total dredging volume was 67 × 10^6m^3, equal to 5.9 cm·a^-1.

A New Species of Japalura(Squamata, Agamidae) from the Nu River Valley in Southern Hengduan mountains, Yunnan, China

A population of Japalura from Yunnan Province, China, previously assigned to Japalura splendida, is described as a new species. The new species has been recorded between 1 138–2 500 m in the Nu River drainage between the towns of Liuku and Binzhongluo, and on the lower western slopes of the Nushan and eastern slopes of the Goaligongshan. The new species can be distinguished from other species of Japalura, except J. dymondi, by the following combination of characters： exposed tympani, prominent dorso-lateral stripes, and small gular scales. It is very similar with but differs from J. dymondi by having smooth or feebly keeled dorsal head scales, three relatively enlarged spines on either side of the post-occiput area, strongly keeled and mucronate scales on occiput area and within the lateral stripes, back of arm and leg green, higher number of dorsal-ridge scales（DS） and fourth toe subdigital scales（T4S）. A principal component analysis of body measurements of adult male specimens of the new species and J. dymondi showed principal component 1 loading highest for upper arm length, fourth toe length and snout to eye length and principal component 2 loading highest for head width, head length and fourth toe length.

Background Little is known about basophil with respect to the different signaling transduction pathways involved in spontaneous, cytokine or anti-IgE induced adhesion and how this compares to IgE-dependent and IgE-independent mediator secretion. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the roles of β1 and β2 integrins in basophil adhesion as well as hosphatidylinositol 3-kinase （PI3K）, src-kinases and extracellular signal regulated kinase （ERK）1/2 in basophil adhesion and histamine release （HR）. methods Basophils （purity of 10%-50%） were preincubated with anti-CD29 or anti-CD 18 blocking antibodies before used for adhesion study. Basophils were preincubated with the pharmacological inhibitors wortmannin, PP1, PD98059 before used for adhesion and HR study. Cell adherence to bovine serum albumin （BSA） or fibronectin （Fn） was monitored using cell associated histamine as a basophil marker and the histamine was measured by the glass fiber assay. Results Basophil spontaneous adhesion to Fn was inhibited by anti-CD29. Interleukin （IL）-3, granulocyte/macrophage colony stimulating factor （Gm-CSF） induced adhesion to BSA was inhibited by anti-CD18. Wortmannin at 1 μmol/L and PP1 at 20 μmol/L strongly interfered with, whereas PD98059 at 50μmol/L weakly inhibited basophil spontaneous adhesion to Fn. One μmol/L wortmannin strongly inhibited IL-3, IL-5, Gm-CSF and anti-IgE induced adhesion to BSA. PP1 at 20 μmol/L partly inhibited anti-IgE induced adhesion. Fifty μmol/L PD98059 marginally inhibited IL-5, weakly inhibited anti-IgE, partly inhibited Gm-CSF induced adhesion. Wortmannin, PP1 and PD98059 inhibited anti-IgE （1：100 or 1：1000） induced basophil HR in a dose dependent manner. They inhibited calcium ionophore A23187 （10 μmol/L, 5 μmol/L） induced basophil HR in a dose dependent manner, but to different extend with PP1 being the most efficient.
