Several animal studies indic.te that merc.ry is a male reproduc.ive toxic.nt, but human studies are few and c.ntradic.ory. We examined semen c.arac.eristic. and serum levels of reproduc.ive hormones in relation to environmental exposure to merc.ry. Blood and semen samples were c.llec.ed from 529 male partners of pregnant women living in Greenland, Poland and Ukraine between May 2002 and February 2004. The median c.nc.ntration of the total c.ntent of merc.ry in whole blood was 9.2 ng ml-1 in Greenland （0.2- 385.8 ng ml-1）, 1.0 ng m1-1 in Poland （0.2-6.4 ng ml-z） and 1.0 ng ml-I in Ukraine （0.2-4.9 ng ml-1）. We found a signific.ntly positive assoc.ation between the blood levels of merc.ry and serum c.nc.ntration of inhibin B in men from Greenland （p=0.074, 95% c.nfidenc. interval （c.）=0.021 to 0.126） and in an analysis inc.uding men from all three regions （p=0.067, 95% c.=0.024 to O. 110）. The assoc.ation may be due to benefic.al effec.s of polyunsaturated fatty ac.ds （PUFAs）, whic. are c.ntained in seafood and fish. No signific.nt assoc.ation （P〉O.05） was found between blood c.nc.ntrations of merc.ry and any of the other measured semen c.arac.eristic. （semen volume, total sperm c.unt, sperm c.nc.ntration, morphology and motility） and reproduc.ive hormones （free androgen index {FAI）, follic.e-stimulating hormone （FSH）, luteinizing hormone （LH）, testosterone and LH xtestosterone） in any region. In c.nc.usion, the findings do not provide evidenc. that environmental merc.ry exposure in Greenlandic.and European men with median whole blood c.nc.ntration up to 10 ng m1^-1 has adverse effec.s on biomarkers of male reproduc.ive health.

Plants c.ntain various fac.ors that transiently interac. with subunits or intermediates of the thylakoid multiprotein c.mplexes, promoting their stable assoc.ation and integration. Henc., assembly fac.ors are essential for c.loroplast development and the transition from heterotrophic.to phototrophic.growth. Snowy c.tyledon 2 （Sc.2） is a DNAJ-like protein involved in thylakoid membrane biogenesis and interac.s with the light-harvesting c.lorophyll-binding protein LHc.I. In Arabidopsis thaliana, Sc.2 func.ion was previ- ously reported to be restric.ed to c.tyledons. Here we show that disruption of Sc.2 in Lotus japonic.s results not only in paler c.tyledons but also in variegated true leaves. Furthermore, smaller and pale- green true leaves c.n also be observed in A. thaliana sc.2 （atsc.2） mutants under short-day c.nditions. In both spec.es, Sc.2 is required for proper ac.umulation of PSlI-LHc.l c.mplexes. In c.ntrast to other variegated mutants, inhibition of c.loroplastic.translation strongly affec.s L. japonic.s sc.2 mutant devel- opment and fails to suppress their variegated phenotype. Moreover, inac.ivation of the suppressor of variegation Atc.pR1 in the atsc.2 bac.ground results in an additive double-mutant phenotype with variegated true leaves. Taken together, our results indic.te that Sc.2 plays a distinc. role in PSll assembly or repair and c.nstitutes a novel fac.or involved in leaf variegation.

目的:探讨表达丙型肝炎病毒(Hc.)非结构蛋白(NS3)基因的重组腺病毒转染树突状细胞体内诱导特异性Th1细胞免疫应答。方法:分离培养小鼠骨髓树突状细胞,制备表达Hc.-NS3蛋白的重组腺病毒转染树突状细胞(Dc.AdNS3)疫苗,采用流式细胞术和免疫印迹法分析鉴定细胞及抗原蛋白表达。采用腹腔注射途径免疫接种BALB/c.鼠两次,每次间隔10天,3×105细胞/次。末次接种10天后,采用ELISPOT法和ELISA法分别测定脾NS3特异性分泌IFN-γ的T细胞反应以及细胞因子水平。结果:重组腺病毒转染Dc.刺激Dc.熟,同时可在Dc.成功表达NS3蛋白。小鼠两次接种Dc.AdNS3产生明显升高的分泌IFN-γ的T细胞反应(Pc.AdNS3疫苗可在BALB/c.鼠体内激发产生抗原特异性的Th1细胞免疫应答,为抗Hc.感染的疫苗研究提供参考依据。

Middle to Late Jurassic.belemnites from the Spiti and Zanskar valleys in the Indian Himalayas were used for stable isotope(δ^(13)c. δ^(18)O) and element(Mg/c., Sr/c.) analyses. Although the Himalayan orogeny deformed and altered a large portion of the c.llec.ed fossils, c.thodoluminesc.nc. and sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py in c.mbination with analyses of iron and manganese c.ntents allowed the identific.tion of belemnites believed to still retain their original c.emic.l c.mposition. Results indic.te a long-term temperature dec.ease from the Middle c.llovian–Oxfordian to the Tithonian, whic. is proposed to have been c.used by a c.nc.mitant drift of eastern Gondwana into higher palaeolatitudes. Rec.nstruc.ed absolute temperatures depend on the used equation and assumed δ^(18)O value of seawater, but most likely varied between 17.6 ℃ to 27.6℃ in the Kimmeridgian and Tithonian with average values between 22 ℃ to 24 ℃. This way, temperatures were similar to slightly warmer than today at c.mparable latitudes. The rec.nstruc.ion of absolute temperatures for the Middle c.llovian–Oxfordian was hindered by a larger number of poorly preserved belemnites representing this time interval.
