＜正＞Background This study aimed to determine the efficacy of silicone gel （Cica-Care） on severe ost-traumatic hypertophic scars among theChinese *** and materials A randomized clinical trial （RCT） was conducted on 45 Chinese patients with post-traumatic hypertrophic ***-two subjects were placed in the experimental group with silicone gel sheeting （SGS） applied 24 h per day for 6 months while allsubjects were taught to massage the scar daily for 15 min serving as the control *** assessments were conducted regularly tomeasure the changes in thickness, pigmentation,vascularity,pliability,itchiness and *** Two-way repeated ANOVA showed a significant difference between MT group and SGS group on scar *** post hoccomparison analysis showed that the difference was significant at the post-2-month （p=0.008） and post-6-month （p＜ 0.001） *** SGS group also showed changes in pigmentation which resembled normal skin but no statistical significance was ***,itchinessand pliability were also improved after intervention. Perfluoroalkyl acid transformation and mitigation by nNiFe-activated carbon nanocomposites in steady-state flow column studies

The ongoing contamination of groundwater with per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)has resulted in a global and rapidly growing interest in PFAS groundwater *** technologies that lead to PFAS destruction are often limited by not addressing all PFAS,being energy-intensive or not being suited for in-situ *** developed nNiFeactivated carbon(AC)nanocomposites and demonstrated varying degrees of PFAS reduction and fluoride generation with these nanocomposites in batch reactors for several *** we explore nNiFe-AC’s effectiveness to transform perfluoroalkyl acid acids(PFAAs)under steady-state flow(0.0044 to 0.15 mL/min)in nNiFe-AC:sand packed *** experiments included,two perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS)in deionized water and two PFAA mixtures in deionized water or bicarbonate buffer containing five perfluoroalkyl carboxylates(PFCAs,C5-C9)and three perfluoroalkyl sulfonates(PFSAs,C4,C6 and C8)at temperatures of 50 or 60℃ were *** transformation was similar in PFOS-only and PFAA mixture column ***,%PFAA transformation under flow conditions exceeded what we observed previously in batch reactors with up to 53%transformation of a PFAA mixture with∼8%*** chain PFAS dominated the PFAAs transformed and a bicarbonate matrix appeared to reduce overall *** breakthrough was slower than predicted from only sorption due to transformation;some longer chain PFAS like PFOS did not ***,nNiFe-AC technology with both in-situ and ex-situ potential application was shown to be a plausible part of a treatment train needed to address the ongoing challenge for cleaning up PFAS-contaminated waters.

Transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation is a promising therapeutic modality for human brain disorders because of its noninvasiveness,long penetration depth,and versatile spatial control capability through beamforming and beam ***,the skull presents a major hurdle for successful applications of ultrasound ***,skull-induced focal aberration limits the capability for accurate and versatile targeting of brain *** addition,there lacks a fully functional preclinical neuromodulation system suitable to conduct behavioral ***,we report a miniature ultrasound system for neuromodulation applications that is capable of highly accurate multiregion targeting based on acoustic *** work includes the design and implementation of an acoustic lens for targeting brain regions with compensation for skull aberration through time-reversal recording and a phase conjugation ***,we utilize MEMS and 3D-printing technology to implement a 0.75-g lightweight neuromodulation system and present in vivo characterization of the packaged system in freely moving *** preclinical system is capable of accurately targeting the desired individual or multitude of brain regions,which will enable versatile and explorative behavior studies using ultrasound neuromodulation to facilitate widespread clinical adoption.

Plexins and semaphorins are a large family of proteins that are involved in cell movement and *** importance of plexins and semaphorins has been emphasized by their discovery in many organ systems including the nervous(Nkyimbeng-Takwi and Chapoval,2011;McCormick and Leipzig,2012;Yaron and Sprinzak,2012),epithelial(Miao et al.,1999;Fujii et al.,2002),and immune systems(Takamatsu and Kumanogoh,2012)as well as diverse cell processes including angiogenesis(Serini et al.,2009;Sakurai et al.,2012),embryogenesis(Perala et al.,2012),and cancer(Potiron et al.,2009;Micucci et al.,2010).Plexins and semaphorins are transmembrane proteins that share a conserved extracellular semaphorin do-main(Hota and Buck,2012).The plexins and sema-phorins are divided into four and eight subfamilies respectively based on their structural *** are relatively small proteins containing the extracellular semaphorin domain and short intra-cellular *** contain the semaphorin domain and long intracellular tails(Hota and Buck,2012).The majority of plexin and semaphorin research has fo-cused on the nervous system,particularly the devel-oping nervous system,where these proteins are found to mediate many common neuronal cell processes including cell movement,cytoskeletal rearrangement,and signal transduction(choi et al.,2008;Takamatsu et al.,2010).Their roles in the immune system are the focus of this review.
