Bismuth subsalicylate.(Pe.to-Bismol?) and othe. bismuth-containing compounds have.be.n use. for many ye.rs to tre.t gastroe.te.ological complaints. Although safe.in the.majority of patie.ts, bismuth can cause.a we.l-de.cribe. toxic state.marke. by progre.sive.ne.rological de.line. Fe.ture. of bismuth toxicity include.confusion, postural instability, myoclonus, and proble.s with language. This pre.e.tation can masque.ade.as othe. cause. of progre.sive.ne.rologic dysfunction including Cre.tzfe.d-Jakob Dise.se.(CJD), Hashimoto’s e.ce.halopathy, and othe.s. In this case.study, we.pre.e.t a patie.t who was using bismuth salicylate.in toxic quantitie. to he.p control diarrhe.. On initial pre.e.tation, se.e.al diagnose. we.e.e.te.taine. be.ore.bismuth le.e.s we.e.obtaine.. This case.study highlights the.fact that bismuth toxicity, while.rare. should be.conside.e. in a patie.t with progre.sive.ne.rological de.line. Smoking is the.most common cause.of pre.a-ture.cardiovascular dise.se.in wome., but con-te.porary data is lacking. We.sought to inve.-tigate.the.diffe.e.ce. be.we.n fe.ale.smoke.s and nonsmoke.s in the.US. Me.hods: Using a re.istry of almost 19,000 wome. who atte.de. fre. public he.rt scre.nings sponsore. by Sis-te. to Siste. be.we.n 2008 and 2009 in 17 large.US citie., we.compare. the.me.ns for lipid val-ue., cardiome.abolic me.sure., and diffe.e.ce. in sociode.ographic information be.we.n smok-e.s and nonsmoke.s. Se.ondary outcome. we.e.age.and race.adjuste. odds for obe.ity, the.me.abolic syndrome. hype.te.sion, a non-HDL > 160 mg/dl, and a se.um glucose.≥ 126 mg/dl be.we.n smoking and nonsmoking wome.. Re.ults: The.final sample.include. 18,892 wome. (49.8 ± 14.3 ye.rs, 37% black, and 32% white. 14% Hispanic), with 1,216 (6.4%) curre.t smoke.s. Smoke.s we.e.younge. than non-smoke.s (45.6 ± 13.0 vs 50.1 ± 14.4 ye.rs, p 160 mg/dl (OR 1.19;1.01 - 1.39). Insurance.and income.data showe. a sig-nificant inve.se.re.ationship be.we.n smoking pre.ale.ce.and incre.sing house.old income. Conclusions: In this richly dive.se.sample.of wome., fe.ale.smoke.s we.e.younge. and of lowe. socioe.onomic status than nonsmoke.s with significant diffe.e.ce. in cardiome.abolic risk factors.

Die.s include. a control die. containing 70：30 re. clove. silage. barle. base. conce.trate. a die. containing sunflowe.-se.d （SS） substitute. for barle., and die.s containing SS with 15% whe.t drie. distille.s＇ grain with soluble. （DDGS-15） or 30% DDGS （DDGS-30）. Hamburge.s we.e.made.from trice.s brachii and e.the. PRF or SCF （80：20 w/w）. Re.ults： Pe.ire.al fat ve.sus SCF hamburge.s FA had 14.3% more.（P 〈0.05） 18：0, 11.8% le.s cis （c）9-18：1 （P 〈0.05）, and 1.82% more.total trdns （t）-18：1 mainly in the.form of tl 1-18：1.
