This article presents the generation of Orbital AngularMomentum(OAM)vortex waves with mode 1 using Uniform Circular Array(UCA)*** different designs,namely,UCA-1(4-element array antenna)and UCA-2(8-element array antenna),were designed and fabricated using FR-4 substrate to generate OAM mode 1 at 3.5 GHz(5G mid-band).The proposed antenna arrays comprised rectangular microstrip patch elements with inset fed *** elements were excited by a carefully designed feeding phase shift network to provide similar output energy at output ports with desired phase shift *** generated OAM waves were confirmed by measuring the null in the bore sight of their 2D radiation patterns,simulated phase distribution and intensity *** measurement results agree well with the simulation ***,a detailed mode purity analysis of the generated OAM waves was carried out considering different *** investigation found that the greater the number of elements,the higher the purity of the generated OAM *** with other previous works,the proposed antenna design of this paper is very simple to design and *** addition,the proposed antennas are compact in design even at lower frequency band with very wide bandwidth to meet the requirements of 5G mid-band applications.

From Waste to Employment Opportunities and Wealth Creation: A Case Study of Utilization of Livestock By-Products in Hargeisa, Somaliland

This article was conducted to establish the involvement of vulnerable women and youths in innovative livestock by- products value addition to create alternative employment opportunities and diversify wealth creation livelihood activities through DFID UKaid Sustainable Employment and Economic Development (SEED) funded programme and implemented by FAO Somalia in the security fragile state of Somaliland that has few options of formal employment opportunities. The study focused on the processes and achievements of the SEED programme towards deriving maximum benefits from livestock by-products instead of concentrating on meat production and consumption only. During the programme intervention, an initial forty (40) beneficiaries of various trade skills and academic levels were selected through SOMDA for capacity development with competency based training (CBT) skills. One of the primary advantages of CBT was that it focused on the success of each participant. The training focused on each trainee attaining a small number of specific and job-related competencies in bone-craft trinkets and laundry soap production. By the end of SEED phase I, the intervention created a total of 120 direct jobs which were involved in soap and bone-crafts production giving the impetus of making full use of the meat value chain and creating a viable source of employment and income for women and youths in Somaliland contributing to increased Somali economy from the main lifeline of Somalia population that is anchored on livestock production and trade.

With the rapid progress of deep convolutional neural networks,several applications of crowd counting have been proposed and explored in the *** congested scene monitoring,a variety of crowd density estimating approaches has been *** understanding of highly congested scenes for crowd counting during Muslim gatherings of Hajj and Umrah is a challenging task,as a large number of individuals stand nearby and,it is hard for detection techniques to recognize them,as the crowd can vary from low density to high *** deal with such highly congested scenes,we have proposed the Congested Scene Crowd Counting Network(CSCC-Net)using VGG-16 as a core network with its first ten layers due to its strong and robust transfer learning rate.A hole dilated convolutional neural network is used at the back end to widen the relevant field to extract a large range of information from the image without losing its original *** dilated convolution neural network is mainly chosen to expand the kernel size without changing other ***,several loss functions have been applied to strengthen the evaluation accuracy of the ***,the entire experiments have been evaluated using prominent data sets namely,ShanghaiTech parts A,B,UCF_CC_50,and UCF_*** model has achieved remarkable results i.e.,68.0 and 9.0 MAE on ShanghaiTech parts A,B,199.1 MAE on UCF_CC_50,and 99.8 on UCF_QNRF data sets respectively.

神经网络技术由生物神经元的启发而来,已被证明有很强的映射高度复杂输入和输出空间之间关系的能力,并能够提供有效灵活高性能的解决方案。神经网络技术已经很好地应用在函数逼近领域,预测领域和分类等领域。例如径向基函数网络(RBF),多层感知器网络(MLP),和支持向量机网络(SVM)已被广泛应用在许多工程和科学领域。该研究课题从理论的观点分析了神经网络模型学习算法应用到控制,分类,生物医药,制造和商业预测等领域的学习和泛化性能的不同。RBF网络已经证实了自己在函数逼近和并行处理性能上的优势。RBF网络族的神经网络模型可以实现任意有限输入数据的函数估计问题,并且在解决不同的分类和预测回归问题上可以提供很好的泛化性能。具有高阶输入的单隐层神经网络被称作是单隐含层高阶神经网络,也被称作是功能连接网络,这种网络模型的研究领域刚刚起步,是一个很活跃的研究领域。这种网络模型除了具有非线性的输入输出关系还具有线性的输入输出关系,所以比单纯的单隐含层网络模型具有更好的性能。通过构建线性独立的基函数,那么除了初始的输入变量,非线性就被集成在输入层。通过把径向基函数作为网络的高阶形式,那么我们可建立一个径向基函数连接网络模型。现有很多算法用于训练不同类型的神经网络,包括RBF以及RBFLN网络,最经典的算法就是基于梯度下降的算法。该算法通过选取合适的学习速率,然后对网络进行反复的训练。若选取的学习参数过小,会导致网络模型学习速度过慢,然而过大的学习速率会导致网络模型的不稳定,从而收敛性不能保证,而且基于误差反传的学习算法里局部最优解的存在源于误差曲面的性质。为了克服这些传统的学习算法的缺陷,本文在研究了极限学习机的基础上,旨在用该学习策略构建一个快速准确的RBFL网络模型。这种单隐含层前馈神经网络急速的学习策略是由Huang提出来的,已经成功地被很多研究人员应用。但是有关RBFL模型还没有应用该快速训练的方法。极端学习算法避免了传统学习算法的缺点,在极限学习机模型,输入权值是用随机的形式产生的,而输出权值用广义逆的形式得到,这种策略适合于RBFL网络寻找最优的权值,从而提高RBFL网络的性能。由于RBFL网络模型里的激活函数形式是线性的,所以可以认为其为线性系统,而ELM网络也有类似的部分,所以就像极端学习算法可以应用到RBF网络一样,极端学习算法也可以应用到RBFL网络。基于回归问题和现实世界近似、分类问题的实验结果,其结果与ELM-RBF相比较,结果都表明了本文所提出的网络模型具有优越的泛化性能。最后将本文所提出的模型成功地应用到了高密度聚乙烯过程中进行建模。本文结尾给出了本文的结论与展望。

The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy(DR),and associated morbidity is high in the Asia-Pacific *** evidence suggests a potential role for fenofibrate in the prevention of progression of DR,especially in patients with cardiovascular risk,and pre-existing mild-to-moderate *** has also been found to reduce maculopathy,and the need for laser treatment in these *** these benefits of fenofibrate,a group of experts from the fields of endocrinology and ophthalmology convened in May 2017,to discuss on the the mechanism of action,and clinical efficacy of fenofibrate in *** findings from key clinical studies on fenofibrate in DR were reviewed by the experts,and consensus statements were derived to define the role of fenofibrate in the prevention and treatment of *** statements were rated based on the GRADE *** algorithm was also developed for the screening and treatment of DR in patients with type 2 diabetes(T2D),and the place of fenofibrate was defined in the *** expert recommendations,and the algorithm provided in this review will serve as a guide to the clinicians to reconsider the adjunctive use of fenofibrate for preventing the progression of DR in selected T2D patients.

Diabetes mellitus(DM)is known to cause reproductive *** men,it has been linked to altered sperm quality and testicular *** stress(OS)plays a pivotal role in the development of DM ***(GSH)is a part of a nonenzymatic antioxidant defense system that protects lipid,protein,and nucleic acids from oxidative ***,the protective effects of exogenous GSH on the male reproductive system have not been comprehensively *** study determined the impact of GSH supplementation in ameliorating the adverse effect of type 1 DM on sperm quality and the seminiferous tubules of diabetic C57BL/6NTac *** at the doses of 15 mg kg^(-1)and 30 mg kg^(-1)was given intraperitoneally to mice weekly for 6 consecutive *** mice were then weighed,euthanized,and had their reproductive organs *** diabetic(D Group)showed significant impairment of sperm quality and testicular histology compared with the nondiabetic(ND Group).Diameters of the seminiferous lumen in diabetic mice treated with 15 mg kg^(-1) GSH(DGSH15)were decreased compared with the D *** motility was also significantly increased in the DGSH15 *** in testicular morphology might be an early indication of the protective roles played by the exogenous GSH in protecting sperm quality from effects of untreated type 1 DM or diabetic *** investigation using different doses and different routes of GSH is necessary to confirm this suggestion.

Objective:To observe the effects of vitamin E on post-vitrification preimplantation development,gross morphology as well as mitochondrial distribution and ***:Twenty-four female C57BL/6NTac mice,aged 12-16 weeks,were randomly divided into four *** A did not receive any treatment and served as the control *** B was treated with corn oil stripped of tocopherols and served as the vehicle *** C was treated with 60 mg/kg body weight of tocotrienol-rich-fraction with corn oil stripped of *** D was treated with 60 mg/kg body weight of alpha-tocopherol with corn oil stripped of *** treatments were administered orally for 7 consecutive *** superovulation and mating with fertile males,2-cell stage embryos were harvested for *** vitrification development in vitro,gross morphology and ultrastructure were compared between ***:The number of 2 and 8-cell embryo,and blastocysts in the treatment and control groups were not significantly different(P>0.05).Following vitrification,all 2-cell embryos had equal-sized blastomeres and intact zona *** aggregation toward the perinuclear region was seen in all of the treatment *** groups C and D had vacuolated mitochondria,which was reflected in the trend of preimplantation development ***:Vitamin E supplementation of 60 mg/kg body weight does not improve the viability of healthy embryos according to this *** a result,the most effective dose of vitamin E supplementation may be determined by the initial quality of the embryos.

The Impact of Firm Characteristics, Industry Types, and Financial Ratios on SMEs＇ Utilization of Tax Incentives

This study aims to contribute to the growing literature on issues of tax incentives for small and medium-sized enterprises （SMEs）. Through comprehensive exploration of data, the study investigates factors leading to successful and unsuccessful utilization of tax incentives among SMEs. Financial ratios were calculated based on the information retrieved from the companies＇ annual financial statement. Apparently, these financial ratios are evidence of how successful the companies are in utilizing the tax incentives. In this study, 129 small companies and 71 medium-sized companies were selected as samples for the period of 2003-2007. The result indicates that financial structure such as retained earnings, tax burden, cash flow, and inventory level determined the ability of companies to utilize tax incentives; hence leading to higher earnings generated from the business operation. The age of the companies affects the utilization of tax incentives and this denotes that older companies are more capable of generating higher earnings. Hence, a thorough analysis of the data allows us not only to determine the success of the company in utilizing tax incentives but also to identify the determinants that impact their performance.

Type 2 diabetes with good glycemic control have improved insulin response and lower non-esterified fatty acid level after a meal challenge

Background: Pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) involves defects in β-cell function with impaired first and second phase insulin response, and reduced insulin sensitivity. Diabetic dyslipidemia is an important and common risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). Aims: This study examined the effect of glycemic control on post prandial insulin and lipid parameters in response to a standardised meal challenge among Type 2 diabetes patients with good and poor glycemic control. Methods: We cross-sectionally studied 31 T2DM patients with good glycemic control and 32 T2DM patients with poor glycemic control. Subjects were given, after minimum 10 hours of fasting, a standard meal containing 58% fat. Fasting and serial postprandial blood samples were taken over 8 hours to determine levels of triglyceride, direct LDL-C, apoB lipoprotein, non-esterified-fatty-acid, insulin and blood glucose. Results: Post prandial NEFA was significantly higher in poor controlled diabetes patients compared to good control diabetes patients (p = 0.019), and post-hoc analysis showed significant difference from 3 hours post prandial to 4 hours post prandial, where p= 0.021. Although the difference in insulin between the 2 groups did not reach statistical significance (p =0.058), post-hoc analysis showed significant difference between the 2 groups from fasting to 1 hour post prandial (p = 0.034) despite postprandial glucose being significantly higher in poor controlled diabetes patients (p < 0.001), throughout the postprandial period. Conclusion: T2DM patients with good glycemic control have improved insulin response with lower non-esterified fatty acid.

Assessment on Excavatability in Weathered Sedimentary Rock Mass Using Seismic Velocity Method

Seismic refraction method is one of the most popular methods in assessing surface excavation. The main objective of the seismic data acquisition is to delineate the subsurface into velocity profiles as different velocity can be correlated to identify different materials. The physical principal used for the determination of excavatability is that seismic waves travel faster through denser material as compared to less consolidated material. In general, a lower velocity indicates material that is soft and a higher velocity indicates more difficult to be excavated. However, a few researchers have noted that seismic velocity method alone does not correlate well with the excavatability of the material. In this study, a seismic velocity method was used in Nusajaya, Johor to assess the accuracy of this seismic velocity method with excavatability of the weathered sedimentary rock mass. A direct ripping run by monitoring the actual production of ripping has been employed at later stage and compared to the ripper manufacturer’s recommendation. This paper presents the findings of the seismic velocity tests in weathered sedimentary area. The reliability of using this method with the actual rippability trials is also presented.
