Non-invasive home lung impedance monitoring in early post-acute heart failure discharge: Three case reports

BACKGROUND Patients discharged after hospitalization for acute heart failure(AHF) are frequently readmitted due to an incomplete decongestion, which is difficult to assess clinically. Recently, it has been shown that the use of a highly sensitive,non-invasive device measuring lung impedance(LI) reduces hospitalizations for heart failure(HF); it has also been shown that this device reduces the cardiovascular and all-cause mortality of stable HF patients when used in longterm out-patient follow-ups. The aim of these case series is to demonstrate the potential additive role of non-invasive home LI monitoring in the early postdischarge *** SUMMARY We present a case series of three patients who had performed daily LI measurements at home using the edema guard monitor(EGM) during 30 d after an episode of AHF. All patients had a history of chronic ischemic HF with a reduced ejection fraction and were hospitalized for 6–17 d. LI measurements were successfully made at home by patients with the help of their caregivers. The patients were carefully followed up by HF specialists who reacted to the values of LI measurements, blood pressure, heart rate and clinical symptoms. LI reduction was a more frequent trigger to medication adjustments compared to changes in symptoms or vital signs. Besides, LI dynamics closely tracked the use and dose of *** Our case series suggests non-invasive home LI monitoring with EGM to be a reliable and potentially useful tool for the early detection of congestion or dehydration and thus for the further successful stabilization of a HF patient after a worsening episode.

Influence of Nitro Group Substitutes to the Stability and Energetic Properties of N-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine

In the paper, we aim to show N-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine (HM-I) as explosive material that satisfies requirements of sensitivity and hydrolytically stability. The influence of nitro group substitutions on the thermal and chemical stability as well as the explosive performance of HM-I is also investigated. We found that nitro group substitution to the triazole ring of HM-I can significantly improve the properties of this new material. Only -NH2 substitution position (but not their number) in the core molecule is appropriate to increase the stability and improve explosive performances of HM-I.

Main Factors Affecting the Balance of Investments in Serbia and New Trends of Investment

The importance of investment for the development of some country is undeniable. In today＇s economic conditions, it is necessary to observe all the influencing factors and examine their impact on the investments in the economy of some country. The goal of each country is to create a favorable climate （conditions） for the investments, because they stimulate the growth and development of the country. The aim of this paper is to point of the current situation （the past few years） of the foreign investments in Serbia＇s economy and to highlight the main factors that influenced this situation. In a past few years, there is another trend of unexploited resource of investment seen in Serbia, which is more and more attractive in the region, but unfortunately unjustly neglected in Serbia. These sources are venture capital and private equity funds. Some of the influencing factors that must be emphasized are the country＇s general economic situation, political risks, taxation, the financing of the investments, the government＇s incentives （subsidies）, support from some specialized institutions, etc..

Celecoxib-induced gastrointestinal, liver and brain lesions in rats, counteraction by BPC 157 or L-arginine, aggravation by L-NAME

To counteract/reveal celecoxib-induced toxicity and NO system involvement. METHODSCelecoxib (1 g/kg b.w. ip) was combined with therapy with stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 (known to inhibit these lesions, 10 μg/kg, 10 ng/kg, or 1 ng/kg ip) and L-arginine (100 mg/kg ip), as well as NOS blockade [N(G)-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME)] (5 mg/kg ip) given alone and/or combined immediately after celecoxib. Gastrointestinal, liver, and brain lesions and liver enzyme serum values in rats were assessed at 24 h and 48 h thereafter. RESULTSThis high-dose celecoxib administration, as a result of NO system dysfunction, led to gastric, liver, and brain lesions and increased liver enzyme serum values. The L-NAME-induced aggravation of the lesions was notable for gastric lesions, while in liver and brain lesions the beneficial effect of L-arginine was blunted. L-arginine counteracted gastric, liver and brain lesions. These findings support the NO system mechanism(s), both NO system agonization (L-arginine) and NO system antagonization (L-NAME), that on the whole are behind all of these COX phenomena. An even more complete antagonization was identified with BPC 157 (at both 24 h and 48 h). A beneficial effect was evident on all the increasingly negative effects of celecoxib and L-NAME application and in all the BPC 157 groups (L-arginine + BPC 157; L-NAME + BPC 157; L-NAME + L-arginine + BPC 157). Thus, these findings demonstrated that BPC 157 may equally counteract both COX-2 inhibition (counteracting the noxious effects of celecoxib on all lesions) and additional NOS blockade (equally counteracting the noxious effects of celecoxib + L-NAME). CONCLUSIONBPC 157 and L-arginine alleviate gastrointestinal, liver and brain lesions, redressing NSAIDs’ post-surgery application and NO system involvement.

Metal Concentration in Muscle Tissue of Carp and Pike from Different Fish Ponds in Belgrade Area

This study was conducted to determine the contamination data of some heavy metals in 10 fish tissue samples of two different fish species---common carp and Northern pike from four different fish ponds and to compare the level of contamination and the differences in the concentration of these elements between these two fish species and between compared fish ponds. In various fish ponds, metal concentrations in the carp muscle tissue varied depending on the metal type. Between compared fish ponds, there were significant differences （P 〈 0.01） in the concentration in muscle carp tissue, except for cadmium. Metal concentrations in the pike muscle tissue also varied among fish ponds, depending on the type of metal. In all compared cases, there were significant differences between metal concentration in pike muscle tissue （P 〈 0.01）. Lead and cadmium concentration in pike muscle tissue were significantly higher （P 〈 0.01, P 〈 0.05, respectively）, and mercury and arsenic concentration were significantly lower （P 〈 0.01） than concentration of this heavy metals in carp muscle tissue in all comapered fish ponds. The results obtained in this study indicate variation in a range of examined metal concentration in muscle tissue, which seems to be typical for the Serbian fish ponds, but is lower than those in rivers with considerable anthropogenic impact.

一直辩论下个世纪是否将是中国世纪。中国经济令人难以置信的转变已将中国变成世界经济的工厂。尽管中国的商业模式建立在廉价劳动力生产低质量产品的基础上,也是如此,在过去10年里,中国已被证明是能够发展高科技公司。这些公司有能力生产精密,复杂的计算机和生物技术仪器。大多数经济学家同意一个事实,在经济实力方面,中国将成为领导者。然而,没有中国的可口可乐,中国的耐克或中国的苹果就不会有中国的世纪。如果中国要继续增长,其制造商需要上移价值链,自己产品设计,提供配套服务,并投资品牌,以便能够使产品赚取更高的利润。消费电子行业是一个很好的起点。蓬勃发展的国际消费电子公司都有一些普遍的特点,其中之一是具有强大的品牌资产。一个全球性的品牌顾问公司Interbrand,每年都会确认100强的国际品牌。这个最强大的全球性品牌的名单上有甚至没有一个来自中国的品牌。尽管事实是,中国是最大的消费电子产品制造商,但是它还是没有许多强大的全球知名的品牌。因此,本研究的目的是确定变量,哪些是有助于Interbrand的公司形成强大的品牌资产,并解释中国的商业环境缺少这些因素的原因,为中国企业制定正确的可以遵循的战略。促进消费电子行业的强势品牌资产的因素可分为三大类：宏观经济,相关行业和消费者的因素。宏观经济因素是指该国的经济发展和成熟的知识产权法律的水平阶段。一旦政府提供为行业提供良好的条件,行业的相关因素,如研发,营销投资和组织结构开始起主导作用,在促进创新和创造力,进而建立一个强大的品牌。然而,一个品牌什么都不是如果它没有追随者,比如消费者。在中国的商业环境中,这些因素很多都不具备,由于种种原因,目前的对保护知识产权的执法不力,短视的CEO的领导,高度官僚的组织结构。然而,建设一个强大的品牌最重要的障碍是中国企业高管的心态：专注于短期利润,往往以至于忽略了长远的视角。所有证据表明,这将是中国世纪：显著的经济增长,开放的市场,成为最大的出口国,最大的制造商,成为最有活力的商业市场。但是,它正使得中国企业难以在国内竞争,更不用说在国外了。因此,为了在这个竞争激烈的舞台上,他们需要完成中国制造到中国创造的转变,并开始建立竞争优势,这将不依赖于任何低成本,但依赖于无形资产,如形象,信誉,品牌。

The theoretical basis of the paper is Aron Antonovsky’s salutogenetic model of health,which is based on the salutogenic orientation and the sense of coherence understood as the central concept and the most important *** primary aim of the study is to determine the strength of the sense of family coherence in parents of optimally developing children and in parents of suboptimally developing children and their correlation with:family satisfaction and family orientation to crisis *** study was done using parents(N=394)sampled from the population of the Republic of *** for Obtaining Basic Data,The Family Sense of Coherence Scale,The Family Adaptation Scale and Family Crisis-oriented Scales were used for the purposes of this *** findings of the study showed that parents of optimally developing children have a more heightened sense of family coherence than parents of suboptimally developing ***,the findings showed positive correlation with:family satisfaction and family orientation to crisis,and family sense of *** precisely,the sense of family coherence in the parents who participated in the research correlates positively with satisfaction with one’s own family and family orientation to crisis.
