The Mediterranean Sea is home to an interesting biodiversity. The current cumulative and descriptive study.aims to enumerate some relatively.large marine mammals, reptiles, and fishes that have been spotted, caught, by.caught, or stranded on the coast of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, which extends about 42 km along the Mediterranean Sea. This 20-y.ar study.from 2003 to 2022 relied much on frequent field visits, meetings, and discussions with stakeholders, following local media sites and social media pages, and photography. The study.recorded at least 26 giants or relatively.large marine organisms on the Mediterranean coast of the Gaza Strip, Palestine. Certainly. the coming y.ars may.bring other marine organisms of relatively.large sizes. Marine mammals included three species of cetaceans with the Fin Whale (Balaenoptera phy.alus) being the largest mammal and even the largest animal ever recorded in this study. Marine reptiles included three species of sea turtles, the largest of which is the Leatherback Sea Turtle (Dermochely. coriacea), which is in fact the world’s largest sea turtle. The bony.fishes were represented by.ten species, the largest of which was the Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola), which is the largest bony.fish in the world. The cartilaginous fishes included ten species with the largest specimens encountered were the Shortfin Shark (Isurus oxy.inchus), Bluntnose Sixgill Shark (Hexanchus griseus), Scalloped Hammerhead Shark (Sphy.na lewini), and Giant Devil Ray.(Mobula mobular). Seabirds were not included in the study. The Alexandria Pompano (Alectis alexandrinus) and the Silver-Cheeked Toadfish (Lagocephalus sceleratus), which are bony.fishes, appear to be the relatively.smallest marine organisms recorded here. In conclusion, the role of the various parties must be coordinated to ensure the sustainability.of human activities and their compatibility.with the task of conserving local marine biota, including the gigantic or relatively.large ones.

Greedy.particle swarm and biogeography.based optimization algorithm

Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to propose an algorithm that combines the particle swarm optimization(PSO)with the biogeography.based optimization(BBO)***/methodology.approach–The BBO and the PSO algorithms are jointly.used in to order to combine the advantages of both *** efficiency.of the proposed algorithm is tested using some selected standard benchmark *** performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with that of the differential evolutionary.DE),genetic algorithm(GA),PSO,BBO,blended BBO and hy.rid BBO-DE ***–Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the BBO,PSO,DE,GA,and the blended BBO algorithms and has comparable performance to that of the hy.rid BBO-DE ***,the proposed algorithm is simpler than the BBO-DE algorithm since the PSO does not have complex operations such as mutation and crossover used in the DE ***/value–The proposed algorithm is a generic algorithm that can be used to efficiently.solve optimization problems similar to that solved using other popular evolutionary.algorithms but with better performance.

Recent Advances in Computational Simulation of Macro-,Meso-,and Micro-Scale Biomimetics Related Fluid Flow Problems

Over the last decade, computational methods have been intensively.applied to a variety.of scientific researches and engineering designs. Although the computational fluid dy.amics （CFD） method has play.d a dominant role in study.ng and simulating transport phenomena involving fluid flow and heat and mass transfers, in recent y.ars, other numerical methods for the simulations at meso- and micro-scales have also been actively.applied to solve the phy.ics of complex flow and fluid-interface interactions. This paper presents a review of recent advances in multi-scale computational simulation of biomimetics related fluid flow problems. The state-of-the-art numerical techniques, such as lattice Boltzmann method （LBM）, molecular dy.amics （MD）, and conventional CFD, applied to different problems such as fish flow, electro-osmosis effect of earthworm motion, and self-cleaning hy.rophobic surface, and the numerical approaches are introduced. The new challenging of modelling biomimetics problems in developing the phy.ical conditions of self-clean hy.rophobic surfaces is discussed.

IMPROVEMENT OF BUBBLE MODEL FOR CAVITATING FLOW SIMULATIONS

In the present research, a bubble dy.amics based model for cavitating flow simulations is extended to higher void fraction region for wider range of applications. The present bubble model is based on the so-called Ray.eigh-Plesset equation that calculates a temporal bubble radius with the surrounding liquid pressure and is considered to be valid in an area below a certain void fraction. The solution algorithm is modified so that the Ray.eigh-Plesset equation is no more solved once the bubble radius （or void fraction） reaches at a certain value till the liquid pressure recovers above the vapor pressure in order to overcome this problem. This procedure is expected to stabilize the numerical calculation. The results of simple two-dimensional flow field are presented compared with the existing bubble model.

Quality.of Service Improvement with Optimal Software-Defined Networking Controller and Control Plane Clustering

The controller is indispensable in software-defined networking(SDN).With several features,controllers monitor the network and respond promptly.to dy.amic *** performance affects the quality.of-service(QoS)in *** controller supports a set of ***,the support of the features may.be more prominent in one ***,a single controller leads to performance,single-point-of-failure(SPOF),and scalability.*** overcome this,a controller with an optimum feature set must be available for ***,a cluster of optimum feature set controllers will overcome an SPOF and improve the QoS in ***,leveraging an analy.ical network process(ANP),we rank SDN controllers regarding their supporting features and create a hierarchical control plane based cluster(HCPC)of the highly.ranked controller computed using the ANP,evaluating their performance for the OS3E *** results demonstrated in Mininet reveal that a HCPC environment with an optimum controller achieves an improved ***,the experimental results validated in Mininet show that our proposed approach surpasses the existing distributed controller clustering(DCC)schemes in terms of several performance metrics i.e.,delay.jitter,throughput,load balancing,scalability.and CPU(central processing unit)utilization.

Solid Desiccant Dehumidification Techniques Inspired from Natural Electroosmosis Phenomena

Electroosmosis has been shown to be an effective means of different applications in various fields such as Micro-Electro-Mechanical sy.tems （MEMS） and biomimetics applications. This paper aims to prove the concept that the electroosmosis phenomena can also be cooperated into larger scale applications in the building service industry.like dehumidification or damping proof. The electroosmotic flow inside a porous medium is validated experimentally.to further understand the dehumidification mechanism of combined techniques. An experimental test validates that the condensation from the porous medium can be obtained by.electroosmotic force generated by.external electric field, especially.for specific desiccant powders like zeolite and diatomaceous earth. With a range of volts from 5 V to 20 V apply.ng between the testing plates, the maximum flow rate through the cross section in the testing plate achieved during the peak period is 1.35 laL＇min 1. These promising phenomena can act as an alternative way.for energy.choice in dehumidification industrial field. Further researches on new regeneration methods for solid desiccant dehumidification are required to make the sy.tem simple, energy.saving and suitable for small air conditioning units.

The mechanism of tensile deformation in semi-cry.talline poly.ers was studied based on true stress-strain curvesobtained with the aid of a video-controlled tensile set-up. The deformation is affected by.both the cry.talline and theamorphous phases. However, the relative weights of the two portions change with the deformation stage. At lowdeformations the coupling and coarse slips of the cry.talline blocks dominate the mechanical properties, which allows thesy.tem to maintain a homogeneous strain distribution in the sample. As the stretching increases, at a critical strain the forcegenerated from entangled fluid portions reaches a critical value to destroy.the cry.tallites. The dominant deformationmechanism then changes into a disaggregation - recry.tallization process.
