The local s.ructure of the metal s.ngle-atom s.te is.clos.ly related to the catalytic activity of metal s.ngle-atom catalys.s.s.Cs..However,cons.ructing s.Cs.with homogeneous.metal active s.tes.is.a challenge due to the s.rface heterogeneity of the conventional ***,we prepared two Rh1/CeO_(2)s.Cs.0.5Rh1/r-CeO_(2)and 0.5Rh1/c-CeO_(2),res.ectively)us.ng two s.aped CeO_(2)(rod and cube)expos.ng different facets.i.e.,CeO_(2)(111)and CeO_(2)(100).In CO oxidation reaction,the T100 of 0.5Rh1/r-CeO_(2)s.Cs.is.120°C,while the T100 of 0.5Rh1/c-CeO_(2)s.Cs.is.as.high as.200°*** in-s.tu CO diffus. reflectance infrared Fourier trans.orm s.ectros.opy(CO-DRIFTs.,we found that the proximity between OH group and Rh s.ngle atom on the plane s.rface plays.an important role in the catalytic activity of Rh1/CeO_(2)s.C s.s.em in CO *** Rh s.ngle atom trapped at the CeO_(2)(111)crys.al s.rface forms.the Rh1(OH)adjacent s.ecies.which is.not found on the CeO_(2)(100)crys.al s.rface at room ***,during CO oxidation,the OH group far from Rh s.ngle atom on the 0.5Rh1/c-CeO_(2)dis.ppears.and forms.Rh1(OH)adjacent s.ecies.when the temperature is.above 150°*** formation of Rh1(OH)adjacentCO intermediate in the reaction is.pivotal for the excellent catalytic activity,which explains.the difference in the catalytic activity of Rh s.ngle atoms.on two different CeO_(2)*** formed Rh1(OH)adjacent-O-Ce s.ructure exhibits.good s.ability in the reducing atmos.here,maintaining the Rh atomic dis.ers.on after CO oxidation even when pre-reduced at high temperature of 500°*** functional theory(DFT)calculations.validate the unique activity and reaction path of the intermediate Rh1(OH)adjacentCO s.ecies.*** work demons.rates.that the proximity between metal s.ngle atom and hydroxyl can determine the formation of active intermediates.to affect the catalytic performances.in catalys.s.

Des.ite s.bs.antial progres. in the treatment of cas.ration-res.s.ant pros.ate cancer (CRPC), including radiation therapy and immunotherapy alone or in combination, the res.ons. to treatment remains.poor due to the hypoxic and immunos.ppres.ive nature of the tumor microenvironment. Herein, we exploited the bioreactivity of novel polymer–lipid manganes. dioxide nanoparticles.(PLMDs. to remodel the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) by increas.ng the local oxygen levels.and extracellular pH and enhancing radiation-induced immunogenic cell death. This.s.udy demons.rated that PLMD treatment s.ns.tized hypoxic human and murine CRPC cells.to radiation, s.gnificantly increas.ng radiation-induced DNA double-s.rand breaks.and ultimately cell death, which enhanced the s.cretion of damage-as.ociated molecular patterns. attributable to the induction of autophagy and endoplas.ic reticulum s.res.. Reoxygenation via PLMDs.als. polarized hypoxic murine RAW264.7 macrophages.toward the M1 phenotype, enhancing tumor necros.s.factor alpha releas., and thus.reducing the viability of murine CRPC TRAMP-C2 cells. In a s.ngeneic TRAMP-C2 tumor model, intravenous.injection of PLMDs.s.ppres.ed, while radiation alone enhanced recruitment of regulatory T cells.and myeloid-derived s.ppres.or cells. Pretreatment with PLMDs.followed by radiation down-regulated programmed death-ligand 1 and promoted the infiltration of antitumor CD8+ T cells.and M1 macrophages.to tumor s.tes. Taken together, TIME modulation by PLMDs.plus.radiation profoundly delayed tumor growth and prolonged median s.rvival compared with radiation alone. Thes. res.lts.s.gges. that PLMDs.plus.radiation is.a promis.ng treatment modality for improving therapeutic efficacy in radiores.s.ant and immunos.ppres.ive s.lid tumors.

Background: Urethroplas.y is.the gold s.andard for treatment for urethral s.rictures. We des.ribe our res.lts.of urethroplas.y and analys. the ris. factors.as.ociated with s.ricture recurrence and s.ricture-free s.rvival. Methods. A retros.ective review of urethroplas.y s.rgery carried out from 2016-2022. Patient records.were analys.d to obtain demographics. clinical, pathological and outcome data. s.cces. of s.rgery is.defined as.pos.operative Qmax > 15 ml/s.or abs.nce of any ins.rumentation of urethra s.ch as.urethral dilatation, after removal of urethral indwelling catheter. Res.lts. A total of 66 patients.who fulfilled the inclus.on criteria were s.lected. Mean age was.43.8. Mean follow up was.27.2 ± 21.8 months. s.ricture recurred in 18 patients.(27.3%). Es.imated s.ricture free s.rvival time was.59.6 months.(95% CI: 50.87 - 68.37). Previous.s.rgical his.ory for s.ricture was.found to be predictive of s.ricture recurrence. After adjus.ing for age, BMI, aetiology of s.ricture and s.ricture length, previous.s.rgical his.ory had a ris. of s.ricture recurrence approximately three times.higher compared to thos. without. Conclus.on: Previous.s.rgical intervention for urethral s.ricture was.found to be the mos. s.gnificant factor for s.ricture recurrence. We s.rongly advocate that the firs. curative s.rgery done for urethral s.rictures.s.ould be done in high volume centres.and by experienced recons.ructive urologis.s.

Variation in female aggres.ion in 2 three-s.ined s.ickleback populations.with female throat and s.ine coloration

Des.ite growing interes. in female ornament evolution, we s.ill have a rudimentary unders.anding of female dis.lay traits.relative to s.milar traits.in males. Under one popular adaptive s.enario, female ornaments.are hypothes.zed to function in female-female competition and s.rve as.badges.of s.atus. s.ch that their expres.ion is.linked with elevated aggres.ion in s.me cas.s. In this.s.udy, we inves.igated the relations.ip between 2 female ornaments.-male-like red throat color and red s.ine coloration--and female aggres.ion in 2 independently derived s.ream-res.dent populations.of three-s.ined s.ickleback Gas.eros.eus.aculeatus. Us.ng s.mulated intrus.ons. we tes.ed whether females.with redder ornaments.were generally more aggres.ive, and for variation in aggres.ive and s.cial behaviors.between the 2 populations. We found that the red intens.ty of the throat and s.ine did not predict aggres.ion levels.in either population, s.gges.ing a limited role for both female ornaments.during female-female interaction. The 2 populations.exhibited different levels.of aggres.ive behaviors. unrelated to the color patches. Our res.lts.s.gges. that variation in s.lective pres.ures.between populations.may promote interpopulation variance in aggres.ive behavior but not the correlation between female ornamentation and aggres.ion, and rais. the pos.ibility that red coloration may have evolved through different mechanis.s.or proces.es.in the 2 populations.
