Whole-genome shogun sequence(WGS)data generated by next-generation sequencing(NGS)platforms are a valuable resource for crop *** produced 5–6×WGS coverage of 44 Brassica oleracea breeding lines representing seven subspecies/morphotypes:cabbage,broccoli,cauliflower,kailan,kale,Brussels sprout,and kohlrabi to systematically evaluate the nuclear and chloroplast(Cp)diversity in the 44 *** breeding *** then exploited the impact of low-coverage NGS by evaluating nuclear genome diversity and assembly,annotation of complete chloroplast(Cp)genomes and 45 S nuclear ribosomal DNA(45S nrDNA)sequences,and copy number variation for major *** genome diversity analysis has revealed a total of 496463 SNPs and 37493 indels in the nuclear genome across the 44 ***,some SNPs showed subspecies enrichment at certain chromosomal *** assembly of complete Cp genomes contained 153361–153372 bp with 37 variants including SNPs and *** 45S nrDNA transcription unit was 5802 bp long with a total of 31 SNPs from the 44 *** phylogenetic tree inferred from the nuclear and Cp genomes coincided and clustered broccoli,cauliflower,and kailan in one group and cabbage,Brussels sprout,kale,and kohlrabi in another *** morphotypes diverged during the last 0.17 million *** Cp genome diversity reflected the unique cytoplasm of each subspecies,and revealed that the cytoplasm of many breeding lines was replaced and intermingled via inter-subspecies crosses during the breeding process *** polymorphic Cp markers provide a classification system for the cytoplasm types in ***,copy numbers of major transposable elements(TEs)showed high diversity among the 44 accessions,indicating that many TEs have become active ***,we demonstrated a comprehensive utilization of low-coverage NGS data and might shed light on the genetic diversity and evolution of diverse *** morphotypes.

Comparison of postoperative corneal changes between dry eye and non-dry eye in a murine cataract surgery model

AIM： To compare the effects of the surgical insult of cataract surgery on corneal inflammatory infiltration, neovascularization （NV） and lymphangiogenesis （LY） between the dry eye and non-dry eye in murine cataract surgery models.METHODS： We established two groups of animals, one with normal eyes （non-dry eye） and the second with induced dry eyes. In both groups, we used surgical insults to mimic human cataract surgery, which consisted of lens extraction, corneal incision and suture. After harvesting of corneas on the 9th postoperative day and immunohistochemical staining, we compared NV, LY and CD11b＋ cell infiltration in the corneas.RESULTS： Dry eye group had significantly more inflammatory infiltration （21.75%±7.17% r/s 3.65%±1.49%; P=0.049）. The dry eye group showed significantly more NV （48.21% ±4.02% ys 26.24% ±6.01% ; P =0.016） and greater levels of LY （9.27%±0.48% ys 4.84%±1.15%; P= 0.007）. In corneas on which no surgery was performed, there was no induction of NV in both the dry and non- dry group, but dry eye group demonstrated more CD11b＋ cells infiltration than the non-dry eye group （0.360%± 0.160% vs 0.023%±0.006%; P=0.068）. Dry eye group showed more NV than non-dry eye group in both topical PBS application and subconjunctival PBS injection （P= 0.020 and 0.000, respectively）.

AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effect of natural extract eye drops containing bee venom,musk,and deer antlers in dry eye disease(DED)animal ***:Scopolamine-injected DED rats and lacrimal gland-excised rats were allocated into control,saline,and natural extract groups respectively and a normal group(lacrimal gland excision was not performed)in lacrimal gland-excised *** eye drop instillation 4 times a day for 5 d,corneal fluorescein staining(CFS)scores,tear MUC5AC levels,and tear lactic dehydrogenase(LDH)levels were ***:In scopolamine-injected rats,the natural extract-treated group had significantly lower CFS scores(1.7±0.5,4.7±1.4,3.8±1.9,P=0.006)and tear LDH levels(0.10±0.01,0.19±0.01,0.16±0.08 OD,P=0.014)but higher tear MUC5AC levels(12.9±3.7,7.9±2.0,9.7±3.6 ng/m L,P=0.041)compared with the control and saline-treated *** were no significant differences between the control and saline-treated *** lacrimal gland-excised rats,the natural extract-treated group also had lower CFS scores(4.3±1.2,11.5±2.3,9.0±1.9,P<0.001,P=0.001)and tear LDH levels(0.30±0.08,0.48±0.12,0.39±0.05 OD,P<0.05)but higher tear volume(4.3±0.9,1.9±0.7,2.8±1.1 mm,P=0.005,P=0.124)and tear MUC5 AC levels(8.2±2.0,2.9±1.2,5.4±2.2 ng/m L,P<0.001,P=0.047)compared with the control and saline-treated *** were no significant differences in the CFS scores,tear MUC5AC level,and tear LDH level between the normal and natural extracttreated ***:The natural extract consisting of bee venom,musk,and deer antlers may have effectiveness in DED treatment by restoring the damaged ocular surface,increasing tear volume,and recovering the tear mucin layer in DED rats.

Congenital absence of the splenic artery is a very rare *** the best of our knowledge, congenital absence of the splenic artery accompanied with absence of the splenic vein has not been *** report a case of the absence of the splenic artery and vein in a 61-year-old woman who presented with postprandial epigastric discomfort. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed a dilated, pulsatile vessel in the fundus and duodenal stenosis. An abdominal computed tomography(CT)scan revealed absence of the splenic vein with a tortuously engorged gastroepiploic ***-dimensional CT demonstrated the tortuously dilated left gastric artery and the left gastroepiploic artery with non-visualization of the splenic *** administration of a proton pump inhibitor,abdominal symptoms resolved without any recurrence of symptoms during 6 mo of follow-up.

The difference between visual and instrumental analyses of a shade selection on natural teeth was investigated. With visual analysis, five prosthodontist examined the middle third of the unrestored maxillary right central incisor of a patient using VITAPEN classical and Vita Toothguide 3D-MASTER tooth shade guide. In instrumental analysis, one prosthodontist examined the same teeth using a spectrophotometer （ShadepilotTM, Degudent, Hanau-Wolfgang, Germany, software 2.40）. Overall, instrumental analysis is more accurate and reproducible than a visual assessment. However, the difference is clinically acceptable.

Bone Transport in Tibial Gap Non-Union—A Series of 25 Cases

Gap non-union of the tibia is frequently associated with deformity, infection and shortening. Ilizarov’s method of bone transport was used in the management of twenty-five cases of gap non-union of the tibia. The mean bone gap was 6.53 cm (range 4 to 12 cm). Union was achieved in all cases within a mean period of 11.12 months. The mean time taken for union, per centimeter of bone gap was found to be 1.7 months/cm. Pin tract infection was the commonest complication, seen in 9 cases (36%). The other complications encountered were neuropraxia (n = 3) deviation of the transported bone segment (n = 7), buckling of skin at the advancing side of bone (n = 4), traumatic corticotomy (n = 3), incomplete corticotomy (n = 1), equinus deformity (n = 4), knee stiffness (n = 4) and curling of toes (n = 4). The bone healing results were excellent in 92% of cases and good in 8% of cases. The functional results were excellent in 84% of cases, good in 12% and fair in 4% of cases. Thus bone transport by Ilizarov’s method manages the bone loss and the associated conditions with good bone healing and functional results.
