A meta-analytic review of Elliot's (1999) Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation in the sport, physical activity, and physical education literature

Purpose: The purpose of this quantitative review was to summarize the state of Elliot's Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation, specifically the antecedents of the 2 × 2 achievement goals in the sport, physical activity, and physical education literature. In addition,the intercorrelations amongst the 2 × 2 goals were also ***: A systematic review of the literature was conducted. Meta-analytic procedures were used with the mean weighted sample correlation(rw) as the effect size metric. The antecedents were coded by Elliot's(1999) antecedent categories. A number of moderators were coded a ***: Based on a fixed effects model from 47 published studies(total unique n = 15,413) that met inclusion criteria, the 2 × 2 achievement goals were significantly correlated amongst each other ranging from small to medium to large in meaningfulness. Concerning the antecedents, overall they were theoretically correct in associations, but only a few of the relationships were medium in meaningfulness. Most relationships were small in meaningfulness. Heterogeneity was present for the interrcorrelation and antecedent ***: Future research is encouraged to grow and enrich the understanding of achievement goals within Elliot's complete Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation to include both antecedents and outcomes simultaneously to improve upon the understanding of achievement motivation in sport, exercise, and physical activity settings.

How many subductions in the Variscan orogeny?Insights from numerical models

We developed a 2 D numerical model to simulate the evolution of two superposed ocean-continent-ocean subduction cycles with opposite vergence,both followed by continental collision,aiming to better understand the evolution of the Variscan *** models with different velocities of the first oceanic subduction have been *** differences in the thermo-mechanical evolution between the first subduction,which activates in an unperturbed system,and the second subduction,characterised by an opposite vergence,have been enlighten,in particular regarding the temperature in the mantle wedge and in the interior of the *** and temperature(P-T) conditions predicted by one cycle and two cycles models have been compared with natural P-T estimates of the Variscan metamorphism from the Alps and from the French Massif Central(FMC).The comparative analysis supports that a slow and hot subduction well reproduces the P-T conditions compatible with data from the FMC,while P-T conditions compatible with data of Variscan metamorphism from the Alps can be reproduced by either a cold or hot oceanic subduction *** the agreement of both double and single subduction models with natural P-T estimates,we observed that polycyclic models better describe the evolution of the Variscan orogeny.

Multidisciplinary management of Mirizzi syndrome with cholecystobiliary fistula: the value of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery

Mirizzi syndrome, a rare complication of gallstones, is defined by obstruction of the main bile duct. This obstruction may worsen and thus result in cholecystobiliary fistula. Surgical management of Mirizzi syndrome is complicated by the presence of inflamed tissue around the hepatic pedicle, making it impossible to distinguish between the main bile duct and the gallbladder. The surgeon＇s first task is to perform subtotal cholecystotomy（from the fundus of the gallbladder to the neck） without trying to locate the cystic duct. In a second step, the gallstones are extracted and the main bile duct is then repaired. In most cases, a T-tube is used to drain the main bile duct, and abdominal drainage is left in place（in case a bile fistula forms）. This study concluded that preoperative drainage of the main bile duct in the treatment of Mirizzi syndrome types II and III is feasible and might help to decrease the postoperative complication rate.

Amorphous Fe78-xRExSi4 Nb5 B12Cu1(RE=Gd,Dy) ribbons with different RE contents were prepared by melt spinning to investigate the effect of heavy rare earth(Gd,Dy) substitution on the hyperfine structure,magnetic properties and magnetocaloric *** Curie temperature of RE substituted alloys,hyperfine field and magnetic moments of Fe atoms initially increase up to 1 at% RE content and then decrease monotonously for increasing RE content up to 10 at%.The dependence of magnetic entropy change(-△SM) and refrigeration capacity(RC) of the alloys on RE contents displays the same *** RCAREA values of the alloys substituted with 1 at% Gd and Dy are similar to those of recently reported Fe-based metallic glasses with enhanced RC values compared with those of Gd5 Ge1.9Si2 ***-△SM and RC values,negligible coercive force and hysteresis commonly make these Fe78-xREx-Si4 Nb5 B12Cu1 amorphous alloys as low-cost candidates for high-temperature magnetic refrigeration.

Transcatheter embolization therapy in liver cancer:an update of clinical evidences

Transarterial chemoembolization （TACE） is a form of intra-arterial catheter-based chemotherapy that selectively delivers high doses of cytotoxic drug to the tumor bed combining with the effect of ischemic necrosis induced by arterial embolization. Chemoembolization and radioembolization are at the core of the treatment of liver hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） patients who cannot receive potentially curative therapies such as transplantation, resection or percutaneous ablation. TACE for liver cancer has been proven to be useful in local tumor control, to prevent tumor progression, prolong patients＇ life and control patient symptoms. Recent evidence showed in patients with single-nodule HCC of 3 cm or smaller without vascular invasion, the 5-year overall survival （OS） with TACE was similar to that with hepatic resection and radiofrequency ablation. Mthough being used for decades, Lipiodol~ （Lipiodol~ Ultra Fluid~, Guerbet, France） remains important as a tumor-seeking and radio-opaque clrug delivery vector in intervendonal oncology. There have been efforts to improve the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to tumors. Drug-eluting bead （DEB） is a relatively novel drug delivery embolization system which allows for fixed dosing and the ability to release the anticancer agents in a sustained manner. Three DEBs are available, i.e., Tandem~ （CeloNova Biosciences Inc., USA）, DC-Beads~ （BTG, UK） and HepaSphere~ （BioSphere Medical, Inc., USA）. Transarterial radioembolization （TARE） technique has been developed, and proven to be efficient and safe in advanced liver cancers and those with vascular complications. Two types of radioembolization microspheres are available i.e., SIR-Spheres~ （Sirtex Medical Limited, Australia） and TheraSphere~ （BTG, UK）. This review describes the basic procedure of TACE, properties and efficacy of some chemoembolization systems and radioembolization agents which are commercially available and/or currently under clinical evaluation.
