Insights into the efficiency and stability of Cu-based nanowires for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution

Copper oxide nanowires with varying oxidation states are prepared and their activity for water oxidation is studied. The nanowires with a CuO phase are found to be the most active, and their degree of crystallinity is important in achieving efficient water oxidation. For the crystalline CuO nanowires in a weakly basic Na2CO3 electrolyte, a Tafel slope of 41 mV/decade, an overpotential of approximately 500 mV at - 10 mA/crn2 （without compensation for the solution resistance）, and a faradaic efficiency of nearly 100% are obtained. This electrode maintains a stable current for over 15 lx The low overpotential of 500 mV at 10 mA/cm2, small Tafel slope, long-term stability, and low cost make CuO one of the most promising catalysts for water oxidation. Moreover, the evolution of the CuO nanowire morphology over time is studied by electron microscop）-revealing that the diffusion of Cu ions from the interior of the nanowires to their surface causes the aggregation of individual nanowires over time. However, despite this aggregation, the current density remains nearly constant, because the total electrochemically active surface area of CuO does not change.

Texture Evolution in Heavily Cold-Rolled FeCo-2V Alloy during Annealing

The recrystallization texture evolution in heavily cold-rolled （93%） FeCo-2V alloy with annealing temperature and time was investigated by X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction. It was found that the orientation density of α-fiber texture component fluctuates with increasing annealing temperature and time. The transmission electron microscopy images show that abundant precipitates appear inside the recrystallized grains and around the grain boundaries. The amount and size of the precipitates also vary with annealing temperature and time. The enhancement of the α-fiber coincides well with the increase of number density of fine precipitates, indicating that the fine precipitates facilitate the development of α-fiber. The annealing texture evolution observed in the FeCo alloy could be attributed to the facilitating effect of the precipitates on the development of α-fiber and the ordering process.

Fast, green microwave-assisted synthesis of single crystalline Sb_2Se_3 nanowires towards promising lithium storage

In this work, a fast(0.5 h), green microwave-assisted synthesis of single crystalline Sb_2Se_3 nanowires was developed. For the first time we demonstrated a facile solvent-mediated process, whereby intriguing nanostructures including antimony selenide(Sb_2Se_3) nanowires and selenium(Se) microrods can be achieved by merely varying the volume ratio of ethylene glycol(EG) and H_2O free from expensive chemical and additional surfactant. The achieved uniform Sb_2Se_3 nanowire is single crystalline along [001]growth direction with a diameter of 100 nm and a length up to tens of micrometers. When evaluated as an anode of lithium-ion battery, Sb_2Se_3 nanowire can deliver a high reversible capacity of 650.2 m Ah g^(-1) at 100 mA g^(-1) and a capacity retention of 63.8% after long-term 1000 cycles at 1000 mA g^(-1), as well as superior rate capability(389.5 m Ah g^(-1) at 2000 mA g^(-1)). This easy solvent-mediated microwave synthesis approach exhibits its great universe and importance towards the fabrication of high-performance metal chalcogenide electrode materials for future low-cost, large-scale energy storage systems.

Petrography of alluvial sands as a past and present environmental indicator:Case of the Loire River(france)

Four sample sets of the Upper and Middle Loire river sands were analyzed in order to study the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on their petrographic composition in space(on an 800 km stretch) and *** was determined by modal analysis of three sand-size fractions using a polarizing optical microscope and calculated for each sample("standard sand" = Sst).The watershed is composed mainly of endogenic(Massif Central) and sedimentary(southern Parisian Basin) rocks.B-set sands collected in channels for different water flows in 1996 show that Sst compositions vary by only 5%.Present-day sands in the Upper Loire and Middle Loire have very high petrographic immaturity comparing to others worldwide fluvial sands,although bio-climatic conditions favor sand maturation by source-rock weathering in the *** shows the strong impact of the Massif Central on sediment yield due to relief rejuvenation as a consequence of the formation of the Alps during the *** sands stored during the Weichselian and the Holocene in the Middle Loire floodplain,although partly weathered since their deposition,show higher inputs from the endogenic rocks of the Massif Central than present-day *** can be explained by Weichselian periglacial conditions and the development of crop farming since the Neolithic,which favored mechanical erosion,particularly in the Massif Central which is characterized by a cold,humid climate and steep *** upstream-downstream change in the composition of presently deposited sand is low in the diked *** shows however that basalt and some heavy mineral grains are vulnerable to abrasion during transport and indicates a marked sediment yield from ancient sediment stored in the *** is in line with the high incision of the river bed over the last 150 years partly due to dam construction and aggregate mining.

Nowadays in laboratories and in industries, distribution of solar cells sizes could be very large, hence;for the first time it is rather difficult to compare photovoltaic parameters which are size dependent (current, serial resistance, shunt resistance...) and performances of these cells. Also, it will be useful for scale effect to extrapolate performances calculated on a unit size solar cell to commercial products, especially in the case of heterogeneous wafers used for the device.

ACAZY is a plant formula used in traditional medicine in Burkina Faso to treat respiratory infections. After phytochemical analysis, this study evaluated extracts’ anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties from the ACAZY recipe. Three extractions, an aqueous macerate (AM), an aqueous decoction (AD) and an hydroethanolic macerate (HEM) of the ACAZY recipe powder were carried out. Phytochemical screening of the extracts was carried out using high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) and the determination of phenolic compounds. The anti-inflammatory potential was assessed in vitro using pro-inflammatory enzyme inhibition tests. 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and Ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) antioxidant properties were also determined. The antibacterial activity was evaluated on Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae strains. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, anthracenosids, sterols and triterpenes in the extracts. The extracts inhibited pro-inflammatory enzymes by more than 40% at only 100 µg/mL. The extracts also showed potent antibacterial activity with a minimum inhibitory concentration 1 mg/mL on Staphylococcus aureus and 2 mg/mL on Streptococcus pneumoniae. The extracts in the ACAZY formula have shown anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in vitro. The AD also showed an antibacterial activity. This justifies its use in traditional medicine to treat acute respiratory infections.

What lessons can be learned from y T cell-based cancer immunotherapy trials？

During the last several years, research has produced a significant amount of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human 76 T lymphocytes. Findings regarding the immune functions of these cells, particularly their natural killer cell-like lyric activity against tumor cells, have raised expectations for the therapeutic applications of these cells for cancer. Pharmaceutical companies have produced selective agonists for these lymphocytes, and several teams have launched clinical trials of y8 T cell-based cancer therapies. The findings from these studies include hematological malignancies （follicular lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic myeloid leukemia）, as well as solid tumors （renal cell, breast and prostate carcinomas）, consisting of samples from more than 250 patients from Europe, Japan and the United States. The results of these pioneering studies are now available, and this short review summarizes the lessons learned and the role of y6 T cell-based strategies in the current landscape of cancer immunotherapies.

Effect of preoperative renin-angiotensin system blockade on vasoplegia after cardiac surgery:A systematic review with metaanalysis

BACKGROUND Vasoplegia is a common complication of cardiac surgery but its causal relationship with preoperative use of renin angiotensin system(RAS)blockers[angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEIs)and angiotensin receptor blockers(ARB)]is still *** To update and summarize data on the effect of preoperative use of RAS blockers on incident *** All published studies from MEDLINE,EMBASE,and Web of Science providing relevant data through January 13,2021 were identified.A random-effects metaanalysis method was used to pool estimates,and post-cardiac surgery shock was differentiated from *** Ten studies reporting on a pooled population of 15672 patients(none looking at ARBs exclusively)were included in the *** were case-control *** of ACEIs was associated with an increased risk of vasoplegia[pooled adjusted odds ratio(Aor)of 2.06,95%CI:1.45-2.93]and increased inotropic/vasopressor support requirement(pooled aOR 1.19,95%CI:1.10-1.29).Post-cardiac surgery shock was increased in the presence of left ventricular dysfunction(pooled aOR 2.32,95%CI:1.60-3.36;I249%)but not increased by the use of beta blockers(pooled aOR 0.78,95%CI:0.36-1.69;I277%).Two randomized control trials(RCTs),not eligible for the meta-analysis,did not show an association between continuation of RAS blockers and *** Preoperative continuation of ACEIs is associated with an increased need for inotropic support postoperatively and with an increased risk of vasoplegia in observational studies but not in *** absence of a consensus definition of vasoplegia should lead to the use of perioperative cardiovascular monitoring when designing RCTs to better understand this discrepancy.

Duodenal intraepithelial T lymphocytes in patients with functional dyspepsia

AIM： To quantify the intraepithelial lymphocytes （IELs） and to document the membrane expression of CD4, CD8, TCRγδ and adhesion and/or activation-associated molecules （CD103, CD28, CD44, CD69, HLA-DR, CD95/ Fas） in the duodenal mucosa of patients with functional dyspepsia （FD） in order to provide arguments for an immunological process in FD. METHODS： Twenty-six FD patients according to Rome Ⅱ criteria （20 were H pylori negative） were studied and compared to 12 healthy adults. IELs were isolated from five duodenal biopsy samples, then quantified by microscopy and flow cytometry while the membrane phenotypes were determined by cytofluorometry. RESULTS： Duodenal histological examination was normal. In H pylori negative patients, the number of IELs was not different from that in healthy controls. Median percentage expression of CD4, CD8, or TCRy8 and CD103, CD44, CD28, CD69 on CD3＋ IELs, among the adhesion/activation associated molecules tested, was not different from that in healthy controls. In contrast, the median percentage expression of CD95/ Fas [22 （9-65） vs 45 （19-88）, P = 0.03] and HLADR expressing CD3＋ IELs [4 （0-30） vs 13 （4-42）, P = 0.04] was significantly lower in the H pylori negative FD group than in healthy controls, respectively. The number of IELs was significantly greater in H pylori positive FD patients than in healthy controls [median ratio for 100 enterocytes 27.5 （6.7-62.5） vs 10.8 （3-33.3）, P = 0.02] due to a higher number of CD8＋ CD3＋ IELs. CONCLUSION： In H pylori negative FD patients, the phenotypic characterization of IELs suggests that we cannot exclude a role of IELs in FD.
