Aims Habitat connectivity is important in conservation since isolation can diminish the potential of a population for adaptation and increase its risk of ***,conservation of naturally patchy ecosystems such as peatlands has mainly focused on preserving specific sites with exceptional characteristics,neglecting the poten-tial interconnectivity between *** order to better under-stand plant dynamics within a peatland network,we assessed the effect of population isolation on genetic distinctiveness,phenotypic variations and germination rates using the peatland-obligate white-fringed orchid(Platanthera blephariglottis).Methods Fifteen phenotypic traits were measured for 24 individuals per pop-ulation(20 distinct populations,Quebec,Canada)and germination rates of nearly 20000 seeds were *** distinctiveness was quantified for 26 populations using single nucleotide polymor-phism markers obtained via a pooled genotyping-by-sequencing *** isolation was measured as the distance to the nearest population and as the number of populations occurring in concentric buffer zones(within a radius of 2,5 and 10 km)around the studied *** Findings All phenotypic traits showed significant differences among *** results also indicated a pattern of isolation-by-distance,which suggests that seed and/or pollen exchange is restricted ***,all phenotypic traits,as well as a reduced germination rate,were correlated with either geographic isolation or genetic *** conclude that geographic iso-lation likely restricts gene flow,which in turn may affect ***,it is imperative that conservation programs take into account the patchy nature of such ecosystems,rather than targeting a few specific sites with exceptional character for preservation.

Modern embedded systems tend to use multiple cores or processors for processing parallel applications. This paper indeed aims at task scheduling with communication contention for parallel embedded systems and proposes three advanced techniques to improve the list scheduling heuristic. Five groups of node levels (two existing groups and three new groups) are firstly used as node priorities to generate node lists. Then the critical child technique improves the selection of a processor in the scheduling process. Finally, the communication delay technique enlarges the idle time intervals on communication links. We also propose an advanced dynamic list scheduling heuristic by combining the three techniques. Experimental results show that the combined advanced dynamic heuristic is efficient to shorten the schedule length for most of the randomly generated DAGs in the cases of medium and high communication. Our method accelerates an application up to 80% in the case of high communication and can also reduce the use of hardware resources.

Objectives:Over the last decade,neonatal repair has been advocated for many congenital heart ***,specific subgroups of complex congenital heart disease still require temporary palliation for which both surgical and endovascular techniques are currently *** reviewed our institutional experience with shunt palliation with an emphasis on risk factors for early ***:This is a single-center retrospective study on 175 patients undergoing surgery for central shunt or modified Blalock-Taussig *** data were extracted from a prospectively collected computerized *** identified risk factors for early mortality by uni-and multi-variable *** data were censored at the time of death or shunt take-down ***:Mean age and weight at surgery were 24 days(IQR[7–95])and 3.4 kg(IQR[2.9–4.8]),respectively,with 96 neonates(55%).Most patients had a biventricular heart disease(115 patients,66%),and 51 patients(29.1%)had univentricular heart *** was performed in 129 patients(74%).Cardiopulmonary bypass was used in 23 patients(13%).The median intensive care and overall length of stay were 4 days(IQR[2–9])and 18 days(IQR[13–29]),***-hospital mortality was 8.6%(15/175).By multivariable regression analysis,prematurity(HR 5.6[2.1–14.7]),CPB use(HR 6.7[2.2–18.6]),unplanned<30-day reoperation(HR 3.5[1.2–10])or catheterization(HR 4.5[1.2–16.9])were all significant predictors of early ***:Procedural-related mortality remains high(8.6%)in surgical shunt *** patients with prematurity,low weight at birth,or if the use of cardiopulmonary bypass is contemplated,alternative endovascular techniques of palliation should be considered together with longitudinal follow-up studies.

AIM To study the tolerance and the efficiency of FOLFIRINOX in elderly patients diagnosed with colorectal or pancreatic *** This retrospective study included elderly patients aged over 70 years of age treated at Georges-francois Leclerc Center by FOLFIRINOX for histological proved colorectal or pancreatic cancer between January 2009 and January 2015. Chemotheapy regimen consisted of oxaliplatin(85 mg/m2 in over 120 min) followed by leucovorin(400 mg/m2 in over 120 min), with the addition, after 30 min of irinotecan(180 mg/m2 in over 90 min) then 5 fluorouracil(5FU)(400 mg/m2 administred intravenous bolus), followed by 5FU(2400 mg/m2 intraveinous infusion over 46 h) repeated every 2 wk. Geriatric parameters were recorded at the beginning. Toxicities were evaluated with the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events 4.03. Tumor response was evaluated by CT scan. Treatment continued until disease progression, unacceptable toxicities or patient *** Fifty-two patients aged from 70 to 87 years were treated by FOLFIRINOX, 34 had colorectal cancer and 18 had pancreatic cancer. Most of them were in good general condition, 82.7% had a 0-1 performance status and 61.5% had a Charlson Comorbidity Index < 10. The most frequent severe toxicities were neutropenia(17 patients, n = 32.7%) and diarrhea(35 patients n = 67.3%); 10 of the case of neutropenia and 5 of diarrhea registered a grade 4 toxicity. Thirty-nine patients(75%) initially received an adapted dose of chemotherapy. The dosage was adjusted for 26% of patients during the course of treatment. Tumor response evaluated by RECIST criteria showed a controlled disease for 25 patients(48.1%), a stable disease for 13 and a partial response for 12 patients. Time under treatment was higher for colorectal cancer with a median time of 2.44 mo(95%CI: 1.61-3.25). Overall survival was 43.88 mo for colorectal cancer and 12.51 mo for pancreatic cancer. The Asian lady beetle Harmonia axyridis Pallas is considered as an invasive species in most territories where it has been introduced. Because aphid honeydew acts as an attraetant for many aphid predators and parasitoids, the objectives of this work were to collect and identify the volatile compounds released from the aphid excretory product to evaluate how these semiochemicals could affect the H. axyridis foraging behavior. Twelve volatile chemicals were identified from the Megoura viciae Buckton honeydew including four alcohols, three ketones, three aldehydes, a pyrazine and a monoterpene. The volatiles 3-methyl-l-butanol and 3-methyl-butanal were highlighted as the two most abundant semiochemicals released from the M. viciae honeydew. Vieia faba L. plants treated with crude honeydew attracted more than 80% of the tested individuals with 40% of attracted beetles located on the plant. Four volatile compounds （3-hydroxy-2-butanone, 3-methyl-butanal, 3-methyl-1-butanol and limonene） were also highlighted to attract more than 75% of the coccinellids toward the odor source and to locate about 35% of them on the plants. Limonene was the most efficient attractant since 89% of the H. axyridis responded to this odor. The use of the identified semiochemicals as well as the composition of an artificial honeydew could certainly be helpful to control the dispersal of the Asian lady beetle H. axyridis.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors are today an immense hope in the management of cancers. However, since their widespread use, many cases of insulin-requiring diabetes appearing suddenly, as fulminant diabetes have been reported. Here, we describe 4 cases that occurred at different times after the beginning of immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy with Nivolumab alone or associated with Ipilimumab. There are 3 cases of newly diagnosed diabetes and 1 case of known type 2 diabetes formerly quite well balanced with Metformin. The clinical and biological characteristics of these patients are quite similar. They were all insulin-requiring at the discovery of diabetes and remained so throughout their follow-up. This type of diabetes which looks like type 1 diabetes seems rather to be a new entity.
