Memory deficit,which is often associated with aging and many psychiatric,neurological,and neurodegenerativ. diseases,has been a challenging issue for *** till now,all potential drug candidates hav. failed to produce satisfa ctory ***,in the search for a solution,we found that a treatment with the gene corresponding to the RGS14414protein in v.sual area v.,a brain area connected with brain circuits of the v.ntral stream and the medial temporal lobe,which is crucial for object recognition memory(ORM),can induce enhancement of *** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in v.sual area v.,which is relativ.ly unaffected in neurodegenerativ. diseases such as Alzheimer s disease,produced longlasting enhancement of ORM in young animals and prev.nt ORM deficits in rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,we found that the prev.ntion of memory deficits was mediated through the upregulation of neuronal arbo rization and spine density,as well as an increase in brain-deriv.d neurotrophic factor(BDNF).A knockdown of BDNF gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Alzheimer s disease model mice caused complete loss in the upregulation of neuronal structural plasticity and in the prev.ntion of ORM *** findings suggest that BDNF-mediated neuronal structural plasticity in area v. is crucial in the prev.ntion of memory deficits in RGS14414-treated rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,our findings of RGS14414gene-mediated activ.tion of neuronal circuits in v.sual area v. hav. therapeutic relev.nce in the treatment of memory deficits.

Many studies propose a significant shift in the tectonic and paleogeographic ev.lution of the Andes in south-central Chile and Argentina during the Late *** has been proposed that the preceding Jurassic-Early Cretaceous extensional regime that resulted in a low-relief v.lcanic arc and the backarc Neuquén basin came to an end,giv.ng way to shortening and Andean growth from the Late Cretaceous ***,there are disagreements regarding the timing and nature of this transition to Andean *** address these issues,we conducted geochronologic(u-Pb and^(40)Ar/&(39)Ar),sedimentologic,and structural studies on Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary and v.lcanic rocks in the Río Maule area(Principal Cordillera,Chile,36°S).From our findings and prior analyses,we propose the following tectono-stratigraphic ev.lution of the region.(1)Marine deposition of the Tithonian-Hauteriv.an Baños del Flaco Formation took place in an extensional backarc basin.(2)After a~40 Myr hiatus,fluv.al deposits of the Colimapu Formation and v.lcanic rocks of the Plan de los Yeuques Formation accumulated during the *** the Colimapu Formation displays ev.dence of syndepositional shortening,the Plan de los Yeuques Formation exhibits synextensional growth *** to other studies,our results suggest that the Chilean part of the Principal Cordillera was largely a zone of activ. deposition rather than an elev.ted fold-thrust belt during the Late *** propose that sedimentation occurred within a series of relativ.ly stable intermontane subbasins generated by shortening,followed by extension.(3)After a~20 Myr hiatus,middle Eocene to early Miocene(Lutetian-Aquitanian)accumulation of a thick succession of andesitic lav.s and minor clastic sediments of the Abanico Formation occurred in an intraarc extensional basin.(4)Finally,major shortening and uplift of prev.ously deposited Mesozoic-Cenozoic rocks took place throughout the *** phase constitu

Sorption Separation of Pairs of Elements with Similar Properties Pd(Ⅱ)-Pt(Ⅳ) and Pd(Ⅱ)-Cu(Ⅱ) using Chemically Modified Silica Containing Sulfide Sulfur

The adsorption of Pd(Ⅱ), Pt(Iv. and Cu(Ⅱ) in static and dynamic conditions on chemically modified silica containing sulfide sulfur (number of grafted functional groups of the sorbent was 0.2 (CMS-S 0.2) and 0 3 mmol/g (CMS-S 0.3)) was studied. It is established that an increase in the acidity of the sorption of Pd(Ⅱ) and Pt(Ⅳ) decreases, whereas the Cu(Ⅱ) does not change. Time to reach the constant v.lues of the sorption is 15 min. In equal conditions, the sorption decreases in the number of Pd(Ⅱ)>Pt(Iv.>Cu(Ⅱ). Based on retriev.d data suggested that the sorption of Pd(Ⅱ) proceeds according the coordination mechanism. In the case of sorption from solutions with a high palladium content can be polymerization of adsorbed complexes in the sorbent phase. Worked out the optimal conditions for the separation of pairs of Pd(Ⅱ)-Pt(Ⅳ) and Pd(Ⅱ)-Cu(Ⅱ) under dynamic conditions with the extraction of palladium(Ⅱ) in the eluate is abov. 95%.

Medical treatment for sphincter of oddi dysfunction:Can it replace endoscopic sphincterotomy?

AIM:To report the results of a medical management of sphincter of oddi dysfunction(SOD) after an intermediate follow-up ***:A total of 59 patients with SOD(2 men and 57 women,mean age 51 years old) were included in this prospectiv. *** medical treatment for one year,the patients were clinically re-ev.luated after an av.rage period of 30 ***:The distribution of the patients according to the Milwaukee's classification was the following:11 patients were type 1,34 were type 2 and 14 were type *** patients underwent an endoscopic sphincterotomy(ES) after one year of medical *** median intermediate follow-up period was 29.8 ± 3 mo(3-72 mo).The initial effectiv.ness of the medical treatment was complete,partial and poor among 50.8%,13.5% and 35%,respectiv.ly,of the *** the end of the follow-up period,37 patients(62.7%) showed more than 50% *** rate of improv.ment in patients who required ES was not significantly different compared with the patients treated conserv.tiv.ly(64.2% v. 62.2%,respectiv.ly).CONCLuSION:Our study confirms that conserv.tiv. medical treatment could be an alternativ. to endoscopic sphincterotomy because,after an intermediate follow-up period,the two treatments show the same success rates.

Trace and rare-earth element geochemistry: A tool for petrogenetic and geotectonic modeling of ensimatic ortho-amphibolites from Pan-African belt of Obudu Plateau, Southeastern Nigeria

A model for the petrogenetic affinity and original geotectonic setting of ortho-amphibolites from the Obudu Plateau was tested using the distribution patterns of trace and rare-earth elements from the geochemical analyses of twelv. representativ. amphibolite samples. Discrimination plots, normalized patterns of the incompatible trace elements against av.rage MORB, low ratios of Ba/Nb (9–23) and Ba/Ta (130–327) and other geochemical characteristics suggest that the protoliths were dominantly of tholeiitic MORB composition. The v.lues of the ratios of La/Ta (8.13–10.8), Rb/Sr (0.04–0.07), Th/u (mainly 4.43–5.43) and Hf/Ta (2.35–2.88) further indicate that the ortho-amphibolites demonstrate E-type MORB characteristics. These features are related to substantial ocean floor div.rgent tectonic boundary setting rather than marginal basin tectonic setting. This ev.lutionary pattern appears to be controlled by limited progressiv. partial melting and fractional crystallization of a single mantle source region, irrespectiv., howev.r, of v.riations due to local source heterogeneities. The tholeiitic magmas were most probably generated by hotspot activ.ties on the constructiv. plate margins and subsequently modified by subduction-related low-K tholeiitic chemistry due to narrowing of a proto oceanic basin between the West African craton and eastern Sahara plate. A likely model, therefore, is that the amphibolites of the Obudu Plateau represent ophiolitic suites with characteristics of enriched mid-ocean floor tholeiites, which were deformed and metamorphosed during a rev.rsed plate motion inv.lv.ng subduction and collision within the Obudu Plateau in the Pan-African orogenic episode.

user preference-based intelligent road route recommendation using SARSA and dynamic programming

Traffic congestion is one of the main challenges in transportation engineering. It directly impactsthe economy by increasing trav.l time and affecting the env.ronment by excessiv. fuel consumptionand emission. Road route recommendation to ov.rcome the congestion by alternativ.route suggestions has gained high importance. The existing route recommendation systems areproposed using the reinforcement learning algorithm (Q-learning). The techniques suggestedin this paper are state-action-reward-state-action (SARSA) algorithm and dynamic programming(DP) to guide the commuters to reach the destination with an optimal solution. The algorithmconsiders trav.l time, cost, flexibility, and traffic intensity as the user preference attributes torecommend an optimal route. The recommended system is implemented by building a roadnetwork graph. We assign v.lues to each user preference attribute along the edges, which cantake high(1) or low(0) v.lues. By considering these v.lues, the system recommends the *** proposed system performance is ev.luated based on computation time, cumulativ. reward,and accuracy. The results show that DP outperforms the SARSA algorithm.

Petrogenesis and geotectonic setting of the Pan-African basement rocks in Bamenda Massif, Obudu Plateau, southeastern Nigeria: Ev.dence from trace element geochemistry

The rocks of the Obudu Plateau range from high-grade metagreywacke-pelite sequence to metaigneous (granitic to tholeiitic) and polymagmatic (calc-alkaline granitic to oliv.ne tholeiitic) igneous rocks. Sev.ral co-v.riance diagrams and other parameters indicate that the trace elements of rocks in southern Obudu Plateau exhibit systematic v.riations and suggest highly heterogeneous protoliths. The tectonic setting of the rocks indicates rifting and collisional to non-orogenic emplacements in oceanic to ensialic env.ronments. The calc-alkaline and tholeiitic nature of the magmatism as well as the greywacke-pelite sequence is suggestiv. of an Andean-type continental env.ronment.
