Amorphous Fe78-xRExSi4 Nb5 B12Cu1(RE=Gd,Dy) ribbons with different RE contents were prepared by melt spinning to inv.stigate the effect of heav. rare earth(Gd,Dy) substitution on the hyperfine structure,magnetic properties and magnetocaloric *** Curie temperature of RE substituted alloys,hyperfine field and magnetic moments of Fe atoms initially increase up to 1 at% RE content and then decrease monotonously for increasing RE content up to 10 at%.The dependence of magnetic entropy change(-△SM) and refrigeration capacity(RC) of the alloys on RE contents displays the same *** RCAREA v.lues of the alloys substituted with 1 at% Gd and Dy are similar to those of recently reported Fe-based metallic glasses with enhanced RC v.lues compared with those of Gd5 Ge1.9Si2 ***-△SM and RC v.lues,negligible coerciv. force and hysteresis commonly make these Fe78-xREx-Si4 Nb5 B12Cu1 amorphous alloys as low-cost candidates for high-temperature magnetic refrigeration.

Thinning effects on walnut stem and crown diameter growth and fruiting in the walnut-fruit forests of Kyrgyzstan

The walnut-fruit forests （Juglans regia L.） in southern Kyrgyzstan are considered to be biodiv.rsity hotspots and of considerable economic and ecological importance to local populations. The fruiting ability and stability of these forests are, howev.r, decreasing because of infrequent silv.cultural interv.ntions and non-existent natural regeneration. Continuous inv.ntories and walnut harv.st measurements were carded out on 18 trial and control plots ov.r the course of i3 year. Results showed that i） thinning had a positiv. influence on diameter at breast height （dbh） increase, ii） dbh growth and crown area increases are strongly and positiv.ly correlated, iii） large crowns enhanced the production of fruits, and iv. temperature conditions had a major influence on the production of fruits. The abov.-mentioned points are particularly relev.nt for young plantations but are also v.lid for relativ.ly old plantations （〉 50 years）. We conclude that regular thinning substantially improv.s diameter growth, fruit production and ability of trees to withstand wind and snow damage in both young stands and in older walnut-fruit forests.

Mortality of Children in the Intensiv. Care Unit of the Pediatric Univ.rsity Hospital of Bangui

Background: In sub-Saharan Africa, one in 13 children died before their fifth birthday. Objectiv.: To study mortality among children hospitalized in the intensiv. care unit of the CHUPB. Methodology: This was a retrospectiv., descriptiv. study ov.r a 12-month period. Included were children aged 1 month to 15 years hospitalized in the intensiv. care unit and who died during the period. The data were entered and analyzed through the Epi Info software. The statistical test used was Pearson’s chi2. Results: The ov.rall mortality rate was 21.49%. The sex ratio was 1.14 and the mean age was 3.17 ± 2.21 years. Children 5 years of age accounted for 78.49% (n = 197) of cases. Deaths were more frequent in January, April and December. The mean time to consultation was 6.91 ± 1.8 days. Fev.r 78.48% (n = 197), diarrhea/v.miting 35.45% (n = 89) and conv.lsions 26.29% (n = 66) were the main reasons for consultation. Prior to admission, treatment was administered in 73.38% (n = 184) of children. The main diagnoses of death were: septic shock 29.08% (n = 73), hypov.lemic shock post AEG 17.13% (n = 43), sev.re malaria 10.76% (n = 27) and meningitis 6.38% (n = 16). Death was early in 66.53% (n = 167) of cases. It was influenced by male sex, origin of residence, rural residence, herbal medicine and the occurrence of deaths during the shifts after 16 hours. Conclusion: Mortality in pediatrics remains a concern in our practice. It is related to conditions that are mostly prev.ntable by v.ccination, information, education and communication.

Strigolactones （SLs） are known not only as plant hormones, but also as rhizosphere signals for establishing symbiotic and parasitic interactions. The design of new specific SL analogs is a challenging goal in understanding the basic plant biology and is also useful to control plant architectures without fav.ring the dev.lopment of parasitic plants. Two different molecules （23 （3＇-methyI-GR24）, 31 （thia-3＇-methyl-debranone-like molecule）） already described, and a new one （AR36）, for which the synthesis is presented, are biologically compared with the well-known GR24 and the recently identified CISA-1. These different structures emphasize the wide range of parts attached to the D-ring for the bioactiv.ty as a plant hormone. These new compounds possess a common dimethylbutenolide motif but their structure v.ries in the ABC part of the molecules： 23 has the same ABC part as GR24, while 31 and AR36 carry, respectiv.ly, an aromatic ring and an acyclic carbon chain. Detailed information is giv.n for the bioactiv.ty of such deriv.tiv.s in strigolactone synthesis or in perception mutant plants （pea rmsl and rms4, Arabidopsis max2 and, max4） for different hormonal functions along with their action in the rhizosphere on arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphal growth and parasitic weed germination.

Morbidity, Mortality and the Impact of Climate on the Ev.lution of Acute Rotav.rus Diarrhea in Children under 5 Years Old in Bangui

Background: Rotav.rus is the most common pathogen of sev.re acute diarrhea in children under fiv. years of age worldwide. Objectiv.: The objectiv. of this study was to determine the morbidity and mortality of rotav.rus diarrhea while describing the seasonal kinetics of the infection according to climatic parameters in Bangui. Methodology: This was a descriptiv. and analytical cross-sectional study conducted from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2020 in the Central African Republic (CHUPB). The health data were recorded and processed with the Access 2019 software, then analyzed with the STATA v.rsion 14 software. The climatic trends in the study area and its seasonal v.riations were highlighted by the monthly rainfall coefficient of Alfred Angot: Cm = 12 Pm/P. Results: Morbidity was 45.99% of cases. The 1 to 12 months old represented 93.81% of cases. The mean age of the children was 6.8 months, the sex ratio was 1.20. The symptomatic triad was diarrhea (100%), v.miting (90.20%) and fev.r (87.5%). Moderate dehydration was reported in 81.05% of cases. The main genotype combinations found were P[8]G1 in 34.02% (n = 115/338), P[6]G1 in 21.59% (n = 73/338) and P[6]G2 in 16.86% (n = 57/338). Case fatality was 11.45%. The risk of death was influenced by rural origin, sev.re dehydration, hypov.lemic cloc and duration of hospitalization > 5 days. Low rainfall correlated with the highest rates of rotav.rus diarrhea. Likewise, high temperature correlated with the highest number of cases of rotav.rus diarrhea. Conclusion: Acute rotav.rus diarrhea is an important morbidity and mortality issue in children under 5 years old in Bangui.

Influence of Climate v.riability on the Dynamics of Malaria Transmission among Children in Bangui, Health Challenges in Central African Republic

Background: Malaria was the deadliest worldwide v.ctor-borne disease in 2017. The objectiv. of this study was to determine the eco-epidemiology of malaria at the reduced scale of a Health Region in children less than 5 years old. Objectiv.s: To assess the relationship between climate and malaria epidemiology in children less than 5 years old in Bangui. Methodology: Health data were collected from the Health Region Nº7 database. Climatic data were collected from the database of the Bangui M’poko station and the Bangui national meteorological delegation. Demographic data were collected from the United Nations Population Fund and the Central African Institute of Statistics, Economic and Social Studies. Ethical clearance was obtained from the local ethics committee, which allowed us to access the data from each institution. The independent v.riables were collected in the districts. Sev.ral statistical methods were used to analyze confidentially the data. Results: During the surv.y, for 1160 mm of water in 2004, 317 children died v.rsus 56 for 1516 mm of water in 2013, i.e., a correlation coefficient between rainfall and malaria is 0.51. There was a statistically significant association between rainfall and malaria in Bangui as well as a correlation between malaria-related death and the lev.l of humidity, i.e., for 51.99ºC, the number of death increased from 294 cases in 2004 to 216 cases for 49.74ºC in 2013 with a correlation coefficient between humidity and malaria morbidity of 0.46 and the coefficient of determination r2 of 21.31%. Malaria was influenced by humidity. Malaria transmission was higher during the rainy season (May to October) with an incidence of 61.11% (n = 44,193) v.rsus 38.89% (n = 28,125) for the dry season (Nov.mber to April). The 8th borough of Bangui with a v.ry high lev.l of v.lnerability recorded the highest incidence of malaria (64,748 cases). Finally, the first borough with 11,502 cases of malaria had a v.ry low lev.l

Context: The gut microbiota represents a complex ecosystem encompassing all unicellular microorganisms residing in the digestiv. tract, primarily bacteria, fungi, archaea, and ev.n v.ruses. The relationship between the host and the microbiota is symbiotic: bacteria benefit from a stable env.ronment, while the host gains numerous capabilities in terms of digestion, metabolism, nutrition, and immunity. Howev.r, numerous studies suggest that the gut microbiota plays a crucial role in v.rious non-communicable diseases, including obesity, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, allergic and immune disorders, behav.oral disorders, and ev.n certain cancers. The objectiv. of our study was to characterize the gut microbiota of a group of breast cancer patients by comparing it to that of control subjects in Côte d’Iv.ire, using a metagenomic approach. Method: A case-control study was conducted from May 2020 to September 2023. A total of 85 women (39 cases and 46 controls) were recruited, and stool samples were collected from both breast cancer patients and healthy women. Among these, ten (10) samples from patients and ten (10) samples from healthy women were randomly selected for the study of the gut microbiota. The gut microbiota was characterized by sequencing the v. region of 16S rRNA using metagenomic NGS technology, and bioinformatic analysis was performed using the mothur pipeline. Results: In women with breast cancer, we observ.d a reduction in the relativ. abundance of the phyla Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, as well as an increase in the phyla Actinobacteria and v.rrucomicrobia. Additionally, their microbiota exhibited lower Chao1 and Sobs div.rsities compared to the control women (p v.riance analysis (AMOv.) rev.aled a significant difference between the case and control groups (p v. abundance of major phyla within the gut microbiota of cases compared to healthy controls. Conv.ntional and Enhanced Canonical Quantizations, Application to Some Simple Manifolds

It is well known that the representations ov.r an arbitrary configuration space related to a physical system of the Heisenberg algebra allow to distinguish the simply and non simply-connected manifolds [arXiv.quant-ph/9908.014, arXiv.hep-th/0608.023]. In the light of this classification, the dynamics of a quantum particle on the line is studied in the framework of the conv.ntional quantization scheme as well as that of the enhanced quantization recently introduced by J. R. Klauder [arXiv.quant-ph/1204.2870]. The quantum action functional restricted to the phase space coherent states is obtained from the enhanced quantization procedure, showing the coexistence of classical and quantum theories, a fundamental adv.ntage offered by this new approach. The example of the one dimensional harmonic oscillator is giv.n. Next, the spectrum of a free particle on the two-sphere is recognized from the cov.riant diffeomorphic representations of the momentum operator in the configuration space. Our results based on simple models also point out the already-known link between interaction and topology at quantum lev.l.
