Cell-laden structures play a pivotal role in various tissue engineering applications,particularly in tissue *** between cells within bioprinted structures are crucial for successful tissue development and regulation of stem cell fate through intricate cell-to-cell signaling *** this study,we developed a new technique that combines polyethylene glycol(PEG)-infused submerged bioprinting with a stretching *** approach facilitated the generation of fully aligned collagen structures consisting of myoblasts and a low concentration(2 wt%)of collagen to efficiently encourage muscle tissue *** adjusting several processing parameters,we obtained biologically safe and mechanically stable cell-laden collagen filaments with uniaxial ***,the cell filaments exhibited markedly elevated cellular activities compared to those exhibited by conventional bioprinted filaments,even at similar cell ***,when we implanted structures containing adipose stem cells into mice,we observed a significantly increased level of myogenesis compared to that in normally bioprinted ***,this promising approach has the potential to revolutionize tissue engineering by fostering enhanced cellular interactions and promoting improved outcomes in regenerative medicine.

Compound eyes found in insects provide intriguing sources of biological inspiration for miniaturised imaging ***,we report an ultrathin arrayed camera inspired by insect eye structures for high-contrast and super-resolution *** ultrathin camera features micro-optical elements(MOEs),i.e.,inverted microlenses,multilayered pinhole arrays,and gap spacers on an image *** MOE was fabricated by using repeated photolithography and thermal *** fully packaged camera shows a total track length of 740μm and a field-of-view(FOV)of 73°.The experimental results demonstrate that the multilayered pinhole of the MOE allows high-contrast imaging by eliminating the optical crosstalk between *** integral image reconstructed from array images clearly increases the modulation transfer function(MTF)by~1.57 times compared to that of a single channel image in the ultrathin *** ultrathin arrayed camera provides a novel and practical direction for diverse mobile,surveillance or medical applications.

With increasing personalized healthcare,fiber-based wearable temperature sensors that can be incorporated into textiles have attracted more attention in the field of wearable ***,we present a flexible,well-passivated,polymer–nanocomposite–based fiber temperature sensor fabricated by a thermal drawing process of multiple *** engineered a preform to optimize material processability and sensor performance by considering the rheological and functional properties of the preform *** fiber temperature sensor consisted of a temperature-sensing core made from a conductive polymer composite of thermoplastic polylactic acid,a conductive carbon filler,reduced graphene oxide,and a highly flexible linear low-density polyethylene passivation *** fiber temperature sensor exhibited adequate sensitivity(−0.285%/℃)within a temperature range of 25–45℃with rapid response and recovery times of 11.6 and 14.8 s,*** addition,it demonstrated a consistent and reliable temperature response under repeated mechanical and chemical stresses,which satisfied the requirements for the long-term application of wearable fiber ***,the fiber temperature sensor sewn onto a daily cloth and hand glove exhibited a highly stable performance in response to body temperature changes and temperature detection by *** results indicate the great potential of this sensor for applications in wearable,electronic skin,and other biomedical devices.

Two practical crawlspace heating systems introduced in detached houses have been chosen as a field study. One is the crawlspace warm air heating system and the other is the crawlspace hot water circulation system. Based on the field study result, by using the simulation sol, ware, THERB, the effectiveness of the crawlspace warm air heating system has been examined. The effect of the factors, such as the wind amount circulating between crawlspace and indoor space, foundation insulation condition, and heat amount into the crawlspace, on the indoor thermal environment has been analyzed. Based on these analyses, the measured crawlspace heating system can make the average temperature of the living room above 20℃. These two houses have excellent thermal environment. According to the simulating result, heat amount input into crawlspace, which can make comfortable indoor thermal environment, for every month in heating period has been roughly concluded, and they are 600 W in December and March and 800 W in February and January, respectively.

Background Elevated resting heart rate and hypertension independently increase the risk of mortality. However, their combined ef- fect on mortality in stages of hypertension according to updated clinical guidelines among dderly population is unclear. Methods We fol- lowed a cohort of 6100 residents （2600 males and 3500 females） of Kangwha County, Korea, ranging from 55 to 99 year-olds as of March 1985, for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality for 20.8 years until December 31, 2005. Mortality data were collected through telephone calls and visits （to 1991）, and were confirmed by death record matching with the National Statistical Office （1992-2005）. Hazard ratios were calculated for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality by resting heart rate and hypertension defined by Eighth Joint National Committee crite- ria using the Cox proportional hazard model after controlling for confounding factors. Results The hazard ratios associated with resting heart rate 〉 80 beats/min were higher in hypertensive men compared with normotensives with heart rate of 61-79 beats/rain, with hazard ratios values of 1.43 （95% CI： 1.00-1.92） on all-cause mortality for prehypertension, 3.01 （95% CI： 1.07-8.28） on cardiovascular mortality for prehypertension, and 8.34 （95% CI： 2.52-28.19） for stage 2 hypertension. Increased risk （HR： 3.54, 95% CI： 1.16-9.21） was observed among those with both a resting heart rate 〉 80 beats/rain and prehypertension on cardiovascular mortality in women. Conclusions Indi- viduals with coexisting elevated resting heart rate and hypertension, even in prehypertension, have a greater risk for all-cause and cardiovas- cular mortality compared to those with elevated resting heart rate or hypertension alone. These findings suggest that elevated resting heart rate should not be regarded as a less serious risk factor in elderly hypertensive patients.

The global incidence rates of in-hospital cardiac arrest(IHCA)range from1.2 to 9.0 per1,000 hospitalized patients,as per the National Cardiac Arrest Database.[1] While IHCAs tend to exhibit superior 30-day survival rates relative to out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) due to situational advantages,such as immediate access to medical personnel and treatments.

We constructed and developed an in-situ cryogenic nanomechanical system to study small-scale mechanical behavior of materials at low temperatures. Uniaxial compression of two body-centered-cubic （bcc） metals, Nb and W, with diameters between 400 and 1300 rim, was studied at room temperature and at 165 K. Experiments were conducted inside of a Scanning Electron Microscope （SEM） equipped with a nanomechanical module, with simultaneous cooling of sample and diamond tip. Stress-strain data at 165 K exhibited higher yield strengths and more extensive strain bursts on average, as compared to those at 298 K. We discuss these differences in the framework of nano-sized plasticity and intrinsic lattice resistance. Dislocation dynamics simulations with surface-controlled dislocation multiplication were used to gain insight into size and temperature effects on deformation of nano-sized bcc metals.
