Risk assessment is a crucial component of collision warning and avoidance systems for intelligent ***-based formal approaches have been developed to ensure driving safety to accurately detect potential vehicle ***,they suffer from over-conservatism,potentially resulting in false–positive risk events in complicated real-world *** this paper,we combine two reachability analysis techniques,a backward reachable set(BRS)and a stochastic forward reachable set(FRS),and propose an integrated probabilistic collision–detection framework for highway *** this framework,we can first use a BRS to formally check whether a two-vehicle interaction is safe;otherwise,a prediction-based stochastic FRS is employed to estimate the collision probability at each future time ***,the framework can not only identify non-risky events with guaranteed safety but also provide accurate collision risk estimation in safety-critical *** construct the stochastic FRS,we develop a neural network-based acceleration model for surrounding vehicles and further incorporate a confidence-aware dynamic belief to improve the prediction *** experiments were conducted to validate the performance of the acceleration prediction model based on naturalistic highway driving *** efficiency and effectiveness of the framework with infused confidence beliefs were tested in both naturalistic and simulated highway *** proposed risk assessment framework is promising for real-world applications.

Effect of treatment failure on the Cag A EPIYA motif in Helicobacter pylori strains from Colombian subjects

AIM To evaluate effect of treatment failure on cag A and vac A genotypes in Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) isolates from *** One hundred and seventy-six participants infected with H. pylori from Colombia were treated during 14 d with the triple-standard therapy. Six weeks later, eradication was evaluated by 13C-Urea breath test. Patients with treatment failure were subjected to endoscopy control; biopsies obtained were used for histopathology and culture. DNA from H. pylori isolates was amplified using primers specific for cag A and vac A genes. The phylogenetic relationships among isolates obtained before and after treatment were established by conglomerate analysis based on random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD) *** Treatment effectiveness was at 74.6%. Of the par-ticipants with treatment failure, 25 accepted subjected to a second endoscopy. Prevalence of posttreatment infection was 64%(16/25) and 40%(10/25) by histology and culture, respectively. Upon comparing the cag A and vac A genotypes found before and after therapy, multiple cag A genotypes(cag A-positive and cag A-negative) were found before treatment; in contrast, cag A-negative genotypes decreased after treatment. vac A s1m1 genotype was highly prevalent in patients before and after therapy. The 3'cag A region was successfully amplified in 95.5%(21/22) of the isolates obtained before and in 81.8%(18/22) of the isolates obtained after treatment. In the isolates obtained from patients with treatment failure, it was found that 72.7%(16/22) presented alterations in the number of EPIYA motifs, compared to isolates found before *** Unsuccessful treatment limits colonization by lowvirulence strains resulting in partial and selective eradication in mixed infections, and acts on the cag A-positive strains inducing genetic rearrangements in cag A variable region that produces a loss or gain of EPIYA repetitions.

Recent studies have shown that software is one of the main reasons for computer systems unavailability. A growing ac- cumulation of software errors with time causes a phenomenon called software aging. This phenomenon can result in system per- formance degradation and eventually system hang/crash. To cope with software aging, software rejuvenation has been proposed. Software rejuvenation is a proactive technique which leads to re- moving the accumulated software errors by stopping the system, cleaning up its internal state, and resuming its normal operation. One of the main challenges of software rejuvenation is accurately predicting the time to crash due to aging factors such as me- mory leaks. In this paper, different machine learning techniques are compared to accurately predict the software time to crash un- der different aging scenarios. Finally, by comparing the accuracy of different techniques, it can be concluded that the multilayer per- ceptron neural network has the highest prediction accuracy among all techniques studied.

AIMTo compare the genomic variability and the multiple colonization of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in patients with chronic gastritis from two Colombian populations with contrast in the risk of developing gastric cancer (GC): Túquerres-Nariño (High risk) and Tumaco-Nariño (Low risk).METHODSFour hundred and nine patients from both genders with dyspeptic symptoms were studied. Seventy-two patients were included in whom H. pylori was isolated from three anatomic regions of the gastric mucosa, (31/206) of the high risk population of GC (Túquerres) and (41/203) of the low risk population of GC (Tumaco). The isolates were genotyped by PCR-RAPD. Genetic diversity between the isolates was evaluated by conglomerates analysis and multiple correspondence *** proportion of virulent genotypes of H. pylori was 99% in Túquerres and 94% in Tumaco. The coefficient of similarity of Nei-Li showed greater genetic diversity among isolates of Túquerres (0.13) than those of Tumaco (0.07). After adjusting by age, gender and type of gastritis, the multiple colonization was 1.7 times more frequent in Túquerres than in Tumaco (P = 0.05).CONCLUSIONIn Túquerres, high risk of GC there was a greater probability of multiple colonization by H. pylori. From the analysis of the results of the PCR-RAPD, it was found higher genetic variability in the isolates of H. pylori in the population of high risk for the development of GC.

Educational innovation is a field that has been greatly enriched by using technology in its processes, resulting in a learning model where information comes from numerous sources and collaboration takes place among multiple students. One attractive challenge within educational innovation is the design of collaborative learning activities from the social computing point of view, where collaboration is not limited to student-to-student relationships, but includes student-to-machine interactions. At the same time, there is a great lack of tools that give support to the whole learning process and are not restricted to specific aspects of the educational task. In this paper, we present and evaluate context-aware framework for collaborative learning applications(CAFCLA) as a solution to these problems. CAFCLA is a flexible framework that covers the entire process of developing collaborative learning activities, taking advantage of contextual information and social interactions. Its application in the experimental case study of a collaborative WebQuest within a museum has shown that, among other benefits, the use of social computing improves the learning process, fosters collaboration, enhances relationships, and increases engagement.

Background:Hepatectomy in patients with large tumor load may result in postoperative liver failure and associated complications due to excessive liver parenchyma *** two-stage hepatectomy(TSH)and associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(ALPPS)technique are possible solutions to this *** liver metastases(CRLM)is the most frequent indication,and there is a need to assess outcomes for both techniques to improve surgical and long-term oncological outcomes in these ***:A single-center retrospective study was designed to compare TSH with ALPPS in patients with initially unresectable bilateral liver tumors between January 2005 and January *** was performed from January 2012 onwards as the technique of ***-term overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS)were evaluated as primary outcome in CRLM *** morbidity,mortality and liver growth in all patients were also ***:A total of 38 staged hepatectomies were performed:17 TSH and 21 *** resection rate was 76.5%(n=13)in the TSH group and 85.7%(n=18)in the ALPPS group(P=0.426).Overall major morbidity(Clavien-Dindo≥3 a)(stage 1+stage 2)was 41.2%(n=7)in TSH and 33.3%(n=7)in ALPPS patients(P=0.389),and perioperative 90-day mortalities were 11.8%(n=2)vs.19.0%(n=4)in each group,respectively(P=0.654).Intention-to-treat OS rates at 1 and 5 years in CRLM patients for TSH(n=15)were 80%and 33%,and for ALPPS(n=17)76%and 35%,*** rates at 1 and 5 years were 36%and 27%in the TSH group vs.33%and 27%in the ALPPS group,***:ALPPS is an effective alternative to TSH in bilateral affecting liver tumors,allowing higher resection rate,but patients must be carefully *** CRLM patients similar long-term OS and DFS can be achieved with both techniques.
