Functionalising surfaces using polymeric thin films is an industrially important field. One technique for achieving nanoscale, controlled surface functionalization is plasma deposition. Plasma deposition has advantages over other surface engineering processes, including that it is solvent free, substrate and geometry independent, and the surface properties of the film can be designed by judicious choice of precursor and plasma conditions. Despite the utility of this method, the mechanisms of plasma polymer growth are generally unknown, and are usually described by chemical （i.e., radical） pathways. In this review, we aim to show that plasma physics drives the chemistry of the plasma phase, and surface-plasma interactions. For example, we show that ionic species can react in the plasma to form larger ions, and also arrive at surfaces with energies greater than 1000 kJ·mol^-1 （〉10 eV） and thus facilitate surface reactions that have not been taken into account previously. Thus, improving thin film deposition processes requires an understanding of both physical and chemical processes in plasma.

Significant scarcity of a donor pool exists for heart transplantation(HT)as the prevalence of patients with end-stage refractory heart failure is increasing *** the discovery of effective direct-acting antiviral and favorable short-term outcomes following HT,the hearts from hepatitis C virus(HCV)patient are being utilized to increase the donor ***-term outcomes with regards to graft function,coronary artery vasculopathy,and kidney and liver disease is comparable in HCV-negative recipients undergoing HT from HCVpositive donors compared to HCV-negative donors.A significant high incidence of donor-derived HCV transmission was observed with great success of achieving sustained viral response with the use of direct-acting *** accepting HCV-positive organs,the donor pool has expanded with younger donors,a shorter waitlist time,and a reduction in waitlist ***,the longterm outcomes and impact of specific HCV genotypes remains to be *** reviewed the current literature on HT from HCV-positive donors.

Priapism is a rare condition that involves persistent penile erection for greater than 4 h. Distinct variants exist, each with unique characteristics. Ischemic priapism is a painful medical emergency that may occur as a result of veno-occlusion leading to hypoxia and tissue death. Recurrent bouts of ischemic priapism, or stuttering priapism, require treatment for individual attacks as well as long-term prevention. Non-ischemic priapism is associated with trauma and may be managed conservatively. Recent advances into the pathophysiology of priapism have allowed the development of treatment algorithms that specifically target the mechanisms involved. In this review, we outline the basics of smooth muscle contraction and describe how derangement of these pathways results in priapism. A pathophysiological approach to the treatment of priapism is proposed with duration-based algorithms presented to assist in management.

Atmospheric water harvesting is an emerging strategy for decentralized and potable water supplies. However,water nucleation and microdroplet coalescence on condensing surfaces often result in surface flooding owing to the lack of a sufficient directional driving force for shedding. Herein, inspired by the fascinating properties of lizards and catfish, we present a condensing surface with engineered hydrogel patterns that enable rapid and sustainable water harvesting through the directional pumping and drag-reduced sliding of water droplets. The movement of microscale condensed droplets is synergistically driven by the surface energy gradient and difference in Laplace pressure induced by the arch hydrogel patterns. Meanwhile, the superhydrophilic hydrogel surface can strongly bond inner-layer water molecules to form a lubricant film that reduces drag and facilitates the sliding of droplets off the condensing surface. Thus, this strategy is promising for various water purification techniques based on liquid–vapor phase-change processes.

Over the past few decades, innovations in Information and Communication Technologies （ICT） have led to a significant increase in the complexity of enterprise information systems. This has led to new challenges for enterprise architects, systems engineers, business managers and other decision makers who must cope with the complexity of business plans and processes （particularly automated engineering processes）. In order to better manage this complexity, the Business Rule Group （BRG） has put forth the Business Motivation Model （BMM）. The original BMM uses a SwOT （Strength, weakness, Opportunity, and Threat） decision analysis approach. However, the SwOT framework contains significant limitations with respect to decision making and ICT risks, hampering the decision making ability of enterprise architects, business managers, engineers, and other decision makers. The AHP （Analytic Hierarchy Process） and ANP （Analytic Network Process） are among the most widely used decision making tools： they commonly implement a Benefit - Opportunity - Cost - Risk （BOCR） analysis to improve the effectiveness of business decision making. A new approach is put forth that replaces the original SwOT assessment with an ANP-based BOCR analysis. As well, the original BMM is modified and applied in a Component Architecture Framework （CAF）.

Each year approximately 360,000 people in the United States suffer a peripheral nerve injury （PNI）, which is a leading source of lifelong disability （kelsey et al., 1997; Noble et al., 1998）. The most frequent cause of PNIs is motor vehicle accidents, while gunshot wounds, stabbings, and birth trauma are also common factors. Patients suffering from disabilities as a result of their PNIs are also burdensome to the healthcare system, with aver- age hospital stays of 28 days each year （kelsey et al., 1997; Noble et al., 1998）.

Background:Follistatin-like 1(FSTL1)plays both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory roles in the inflammatory *** investigated whether serum FSTL1 could predict the current anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis(AAV)-specific ***:we randomly selected 74 patients with AAV from a prospective and observational cohort of korean patients with *** and laboratory data and AAV-specific indices were ***1 concentration was determined using the stored *** lowest tertile of the short-form 36-item health survey(SF-36)was defined as the current low *** cutoffs of serum FSTL1 for the current low SF-36 physical component summary(PCS)and SF-36 mental component summary(MCS)were extrapolated by the receiver operator characteristic ***:The median age was 62.5 years(55.4%were women).Serum FSTL1 was significantly correlated with SF-36 PCS(r=-0.374),SF-36 MCS(r=-0.377),and C-reactive protein(CRP)(r=0.307),but not with Birmingham vasculitis activity score(BVAS).In the multivariable linear regression analyses,BVAS,CRP,and serum FSTL1 were independently associated with the current SF-36 PCS(β=-0.255,β=-0.430,andβ=-0.266,respectively)and the current SF-36 MCS(β=-0.234,β=-0.229,andβ=-0.296,respectively).Patients with serum FSTL1≥779.8 pg/mL and those with serum FSTL1≥841.6 pg/mL exhibited a significantly higher risk of having the current low SF-36 PCS and SF-36 MCS than those without(relative risk 7.583 and 6.200,respectively).Conclusion:Serum FSTL1 could predict the current functional status in AAV patients.
