Microbial communities inhabiting river ecosystems p.ay crucial roles in global biogeochemical cycling and p.llution *** variations in local microbial assemblages are imp.rtant for detailed understanding of community assembly and develop.ng robust biodiversity samp.ing ***,we intensely analyzed twenty water samp.es collected from a one-meter sp.ced transect from the near-shore to the near-center in the Meramec River in eastern Missouri,USA and examined the microbial community comp.sition with 16S rRNA gene amp.icon *** microbiomes across the transect exhibited extremely high similarity,with p.arson’s correlation coefficients above 0.9 for all p.irwise community comp.sition ***,desp.te the high similarity,p.RMANOVA revealed significant sp.tial differences between near-shore and nearcenter communities(p.0.001).Sloan’s neutral model simulations revealed that within-transect community comp.sition variation was largely exp.ained by demograp.ic stochasticity(R^(2)=0.89).Desp.te being p.imarily exp.ained by neutral p.ocesses,LefSe analyses also revealed taxa from ten families of which relative abundances differed directionally from the bank to the river center,indicating an additional role of environmental ***,the local variations within a river transect can have p.ofound imp.cts on the documentation of alp.a ***-accumulation curves indicated that even twenty samp.es did not fully saturate the samp.ing effort at the genus level,yet four,six and seven samp.es were able to cap.ure 80%of the p.ylum-level,family-level,and genus-level diversity,*** study for the first time reveals hyp.rlocal variations in riverine microbiomes and their assembly mechanisms,demanding attention to more robust samp.ing strategies for documenting microbial diversity in riverine systems.

Herein, we rep.rted the microemulsion p.lymerization in sup.rcritical carbon dioxide. With the aid of an anionic p.osp.ate fluorosurfactant （bis-[2-（F-hexyl）ethyl]p.osp.ate sodium）, water-soluble/CO2-insoluble acryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride monomer and N,N＇-methylene-bisacrylamide cross-linker were solubilized into CO2 continuous p.ase via the formation of water-in-CO2 （w/c） microemulsion water p.ols. Initiated by a CO2-soluble initiator, 2,2＇-azo-bisisobutyronitrile （AIBN）, cross-linked p.ly（acryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride） p.rticles were p.oduced and stabilized in these w/c internal water p.ols. Nano-sized p.rticles with sizes less than 20 nm in diameter and narrow p.rticle size distributions were obtained.

Endoscop.c ultrasound staging for early esop.ageal cancer: Are we denying p.tients neoadjuvant chemo-radiation?

AIM To evaluate the accuracy of endoscop.c ultrasound(EUS) in early esop.ageal cancer(EC) p.rformed in a highvolume tertiary cancer center. METHODS A retrosp.ctive review of p.tients undergoing esop.agectomy was p.rformed and p.tients with c T1 N0 and c T2 N0 esop.ageal cancer by EUS were evaluated. p.tient demograp.ics, tumor characteristics, and treatment were reviewed. EUS staging was comp.red to surgical p.thology to determine accuracy of EUS. Descrip.ive statistics was used to describe the cohort. Student's t test and Fisher's exact test or χ~2 test was used to comp.re variables. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine if clinical variables such as tumor location and tumor histology were associated with EUS *** Between 2000 and 2015, 139 p.tients with clinical stage Ⅰ or Ⅱ?A esop.ageal cancer undergoing esop.agectomy were identified. There were 25(18%) female and 114(82%) male p.tients. The tumor location included the middle third of the esop.agus in 11(8%) and lower third and gastroesop.ageal junction in 128(92%) p.tients. Ninety-three p.rcent of p.tients had adenocarcinoma. p.eop.rative EUS matched the final surgical p.thology in 73/139 p.tients for a concordance rate of 53%. Twenty-nine p.tients(21%) were under-staged by EUS; of those, 19(14%) had unrecognized nodal disease. p.sitron emission tomograp.y(p.T) was used in addition to EUS for clinical staging in 62/139 p.tients. Occult nodal disease was only found in 4 of 62 p.tients(6%) in whom both EUS and p.T were negative for nodal involvement. CONCLUSION EUS is less accurate in early EC and endoscop.c mucosal resection might be useful in certain settings. The addition of p.T to EUS imp.oves staging accuracy.

Social media have emerged as an imp.rtant comp.nent of technology-mediated communications and many comp.nies have been sup.orting the develop.ent of social networking sites as a p.rt of brand communities （Kap.an ＆ Haenlein, 2010）. This study was undertaken to understand how p.ivate club general managers （GMs） and chief op.rating officers （COOs） p.rceive their ease of use, usefulness, and enjoyment of social media. Surveys were comp.eted by attendees at the Club Managers Association of America Business Management Institute III （CMAA BMI III） executive develop.ent in Sp.ing 2014 and Fall 2014. As one of a few emp.rical information technology （IT） studies in the context of the p.ivate club industry, the findings of this study are exp.cted to p.ovide baselines to academics and p.ivate club GMs/COOs in understanding the p.ocesses of social media technology adop.ion and accep.ance in the p.ivate club industry.

Titanium dioxide was dep.sited from aqueous susp.nsion onto cellulosic surfaces. Titania was sourced from Degussa （p.5TM, 70：30 anatase：rutile）. Dry up.ake of p.rticles was shown to be rap.d and dominant with one-third of the dep.sition occurring in less than 30 s and over one-half in the first minute. Isotherms were recorded to comp.re the rate of titanium dep.sition on dry and p.e-wetted cotton. In the dry case up.ake reached a maximum in 30 min whereas in the p.e-wetted case the up.ake was seen to continue beyond 180 min. A broad trend of higher dep.sition occurring at lower p. was seen, corresp.nding to the region where surface charges were op.osite and thus attractive. Dry p.ckup.was less significant at high p.. The resp.nse to varying ionic strength was comp.ex and was attributed to the combined effect of charge screening, p.rticle aggregation and consequent p.rticle entrap.ent or occlusion. Titania dep.sition into the interstices of woven cotton sheets resulted in the formation of inorganic, nanop.rticulate skeletons which could be isolated by controlled combustion of the cellulose and thus cotton was suggested to have p.tential for the temp.ated synthesis of high surface area semiconductor materials.
