Background: Complications linked to postpartum & pregnancy are one of the major causes of female death. In order to understand the causes of complications and encourage women to take sufficient action in order to receive emergency treatment, a critical step should therefore be taken to minimize complications related to pregnancy, in order to ensure the safety of both women and newborns. Aim of the work: Evaluate the effectiveness of the education programs for pregnant women on obstetric danger signs in rural areas and help minimize the incidence of pregnancy loss and comorbidities. Reproductive Biology of the Striped Seabream Lithognathus mormyrus （Linnaeus, 1758） from AI-Haneah Fishing Site, Mediterranean Sea, Eastern Libya

Reproductive biology of L. mormyrus was studied using monthly samples totaling 224 fish obtained from AI-Haneah fishing site, eastern Libya Mediterranean Sea. Lengths of the examined fish ranged between 11.5 cm and 23.4 cm. Corresponding weights were 24.5 g and 160.8 g. The minimum values of the condition factors, KF and Kc, were 1.38 and 1.21 at the average fish length of 12.4 cm. These values increased with increases in length until they reached maximum values of 1.59 and 1.41 at the length of 22.1 cm. The high values of KF and Kc, Gonado-Somatic Index and oocyte diameter maintained during May, June, July, and August and the monthly changes in gonadal condition, indicated that summer was the breeding season of L. mormyrus. The oocyte diameter ranged between 379± 25.3 μ and 1,511 ± 143.3μ （n = 76） with an average of 895 ± 111.3 μ. The sex ratio was in favor of females during all months of the study. The overall sex ratio was 1 ： 1.52. Length at first maturity, Ls0, for L. mormyrus was found to be 14.15 cm for males and 14.45 for females. Overall average of absolute fecundity was 4,342±557 egg per fish （n = 45）. The overall average of relative fecundity was 234± 181 egg per cm. Absolute fecundity increased with increasing fish length.

The reaction of VCl3 with 4-（2, 4-dihydroxybenzaldimine） antipyrine （LH） in a l ： 1 molar ratio results in formation of the general complex of [VOL（CI）OH]. The nature of bonding and stereochemistry of the complex was deduced from the elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, 1H and ^13C NMR spectroscopy. This complex has a coordination number five （square pyramidal） as known for many vanadyl complexes. The formation of the vanadyl ion （VO^2＋） and the mode of bonding of the Schiff base through the oxygen of the pyrazol ring and the nitrogen of the azomethine group to the vanadyl ion were established by IR technique.

Cultural Eating Practices among Jordanians

Culture has an enormous impact on individuals’ food choices and practices. This research aimed to screen cultural eating practices among Jordanians. Jordanian adults (N = 4750) completed a survey with regard to common eating practices in Jordan. Practices were classified into 4 themes, namely regular eating practices (7 practices), seasonal eating practices (4 practices), eating practices in social occasions (6 practices), and eating practices in religious occasions (10 practices). Interestingly, most nutritional practices during ramadan and Eids (religious occasions) were agreed upon from 100% of the participating sample. In conclusion, culture in Jordan has a huge influences eating practices and food choice. Negative culture’s influence over eating practices may exist, thus increasing awareness about unhealthy eating practices related to culture is necessary.

Background:Fever of unknown origin(FUO)in developing countries is an important dilemma and further research is needed to elucidate the infectious causes of ***:A multi-center study for infectious causes of FUO in lower middle-income countries(LMIC)and lowincome countries(LIC)was conducted between January 1,2018 and January 1,*** total,15 participating centers from seven different countries provided the data,which were collected through the Infectious DiseasesInternational Research Initiative *** adult patients with confirmed infection as the cause of FUO were included in the *** severity parameters were quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(qSOFA)≥2,intensive care unit(ICU)admission,vasopressor use,and invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV).Results:A total of 160 patients with infectious FUO were included in the ***,148(92.5%)patients had community-acquired infections and 12(7.5%)had hospital-acquired *** most common infectious syndromes were tuberculosis(TB)(n=27,16.9%),infective endocarditis(n=25,15.6%),malaria(n=21,13.1%),brucellosis(n=15,9.4%),and typhoid fever(n=9,5.6%).Plasmodium falciparum,Mycobacterium tuberculosis,Brucellae,Staphylococcus aureus,Salmonella typhi,and Rickettsiae were the leading infectious agents in this study.A total of 56(35.0%)cases had invasive procedures for *** mean qSOFA score was 0.76±0.94{median(interquartile range[IQR]):0(0–1)}.ICU admission(n=26,16.2%),vasopressor use(n=14,8.8%),and IMV(n=10,6.3%)were not ***,38(23.8%)patients had at least one of the severity *** mortality rate was 15(9.4%),and the mortality was attributable to the infection causing FUO in 12(7.5%)***:In LMIC and LIC,tuberculosis and cardiac infections were the most severe and the leading infections causing FUO.

Flavonoids, including fisetin, have been linked to a reduced risk of colorectal cancer(CRC) and have potential therapeutic applications for the condition. Fisetin, a natural flavonoid found in various fruits and vegetables, has shown promise in managing CRC due to its diverse biological activities. It has been found to influence key cell signaling pathways related to inflammation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and transcription *** results of this study demonstrate that fisetin induces colon cancer cell apoptosis through multiple mechanisms. It impacts the p53 pathway, leading to increased levels of p53 and decreased levels of murine double minute 2, contributing to apoptosis induction. Fisetin also triggers the release of important components in the apoptotic process, such as second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase/direct inhibitor of apoptosis-binding protein with low pI and cytochrome c. Furthermore, fisetin inhibits the cyclooxygenase-2 and wingless-related integration site(Wnt)/epidermal growth factor receptor/nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathways, reducing Wnt target gene expression and hindering colony formation. It achieves this by regulating the activities of cyclin-dependent kinase 2 and cyclin-dependent kinase 4, reducing retinoblastoma protein phosphorylation, decreasing cyclin E levels, and increasing p21 levels, ultimately influencing E2 promoter binding factor 1 and cell division cycle 2(CDC2) protein levels. Additionally, fisetin exhibits various effects on CRC cells, including inhibiting the phosphorylation of Y-box binding protein 1 and ribosomal S6 kinase, promoting the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2, and disrupting the repair process of DNA double-strand breaks. Changes in Maternal Lifestyle during ramadan altered Placental Development

People born with low birth weight are at a greater risk of developing later life diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cancer. Recent studies have pinpointed the placenta as a critical factor involved in developmental programming. Changes in maternal lifestyle or dietary habits can alter placental development and increase the risk of developmental programming of adult diseases. Saudi people, including pregnant women, change their lifestyle and eating habits during the holy month of ramadan. Previous studies found that the exposure to ramadan lifestyle reduces placental weight;however, effects on other placental aspects remained unknown. We aimed to further examine the effects of exposure to ramadan lifestyle on full-term placental morphometrics, histology and gene expression of key glucose transporters. To examine this, fresh placentas were collected from 60 healthy Saudi women. Samples were equally classified into two groups;not exposed to ramadan lifestyle (control) or exposed to ramadan lifestyle in the first. Placental weight, length and breadth were recorded and placental surface area was calculated. Placental tissue was processed and stained with eosin and hematoxylin for histological examination. Apoptosis was assessed using TUNEL assay. The gene expression of the glucose transporters GLUT1 and GLUT3 was evaluated. The results show that women exposed to ramadan lifestyle have more elongated placentas with less central cord insertion. Placental weight and surface area were significantly lowered in women exposed to ramadan lifestyle. Placental length was not affected but the breadth was significantly smaller in than control. Placentas exposed to ramadan lifestyle had fewer and less-developed syncytial knots and thicker syncytiotrophoblast cells. Apoptosis was detected in placentas exposed to ramadan lifestyle. BACKGROUND Pancreatic cystic lesions(PCLs) are common in clinical practice. The accurate classification and diagnosis of these lesions are crucial to avoid unnecessary treatment of benign lesions and missed opportunities for early treatment of potentially malignant *** To evaluate the role of cyst fluid analysis of different tumor markers such as cancer antigens [e.g., cancer antigen(CA)19-9, CA72-4], carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA), serine protease inhibitor Kazal-type 1(SPINK1), interleukin 1 beta(IL1-β), vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGF-A), and prostaglandin E2(PGE2)], amylase, and mucin stain in diagnosing pancreatic cysts and differentiating malignant from benign *** This study included 76 patients diagnosed with PCLs using different imaging modalities. all patients underwent endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) and EUS-fine needle aspiration(EUS-FNA) for characterization and sampling of different *** The mean age of studied patients was 47.4 ± 11.4 years, with a slight female predominance(59.2%). Mucin stain showed high statistical significance in predicting malignancy with a sensitivity of 87.1% and specificity of 95.56%.
