While much progress has been made in capturing high-quality facial performances using motion capture markers and shape-from-shading,high-end systems typically also rely on rotoscope curves hand-drawn on the *** curves are subjective and difficult to draw consistently;moreover,ad-hoc procedural methods are required for generating matching rotoscope curves on synthetic renders embedded in the optimization used to determine three-dimensional(3d)facial pose and *** propose an alternative approach whereby these curves and other keypoints are detected automatically on both the image and the synthetic renders using trained neural networks,eliminating artist subjectivity,and the ad-hoc procedures meant to mimic *** generally,we propose using machine learning networks to implicitly define deep energies which when minimized using classical optimization techniques lead to 3d facial pose and expression estimation.

The Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager(LEXI)and Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)missions will image the Earth’s dayside magneto pause and cusps in soft X-rays after their respective launches in the near future,to specify glo bal magnetic reconnection modes for varying solar wind *** suppo rt the success of these scientific missions,it is critical to develop techniques that extract the magnetopause locations from the observed soft X-ray *** this research,we introduce a new geometric equation that calculates the subsolar magnetopause position(RS)from a satellite position,the look direction of the instrument,and the angle at which the X-ray emission is *** assumptions are used in this method:(1)The look direction where soft X-ray emissions are maximized lies tangent to the magnetopause,and(2)the magnetopause surface near the subsolar point is almost spherical and thus RSis nea rly equal to the radius of the magneto pause *** create synthetic soft X-ray images by using the Open Geospace General Circulation Model(OpenGGCM)global magnetohydrodynamic model,the galactic background,the instrument point spread function,and Poisson *** then apply the fast Fourier transform and Gaussian low-pass filte rs to the synthetic images to re move noise and obtain accurate look angles for the soft X-ray pea *** the filte red images,we calculate RS and its accuracy for different LEXI locations,look directions,and solar wind densities by using the OpenGGCM subsolar magnetopause location as ground *** method estimates RS with an accuracy ofd density exceeds>10 *** accuracy improves for greater solar wind densities and during southward interplanetary magnetic *** method ca ptures the magnetopause motion during southwa rd interplaneta ry magnetic field ***,the technique will enable quantitative analysis of the magnetopause motion and help reveal the daysi

BACKGROUNd Smartwatches have become readily accessible tools for detecting atrial fibrillation(AF).There remains limited data on how they affect psychosocial outcomes and engagement in older *** examine the health behavior outcomes of stroke survivors prescribed smartwatches for AF detection stratified by *** We analyzed data from the Pulsewatch study,a randomized controlled trial that enrolled patients(≥50 years)with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack and CHA2dS2-VASc≥*** participants were equipped with a cardiac patch monitor and a smartwatch-app dyad,while control participants wore the cardiac patch monitor for up to 44 *** evaluated health behavior parameters using standardized tools,including the Consumer Health Activation Index,the Generalized Anxiety disorder questionnaire,the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey,and wear time of participants categorized into three age groups:Group 1(ages 50-60),Group 2(ages 61-69),and Group 3(ages 70-87).We performed statistical analysis using a mixedeffects repeated measures linear regression model to examine differences amongst age *** Comparative analysis between Groups 1,2 and 3 revealed no significant differences in anxiety,patient activation,perception of physical health and wear *** use of smartwatch technology was associated with a decrease in perception of mental health for Group 2 compared to Group 1(β=-3.29,P=0.046).CONCLUSION Stroke survivors demonstrated a willingness to use smartwatches for AF ***,among these study participants,the majority did not experience negative health behavior outcomes or decreased engagement as age increased.

There has been a wealth of research that has examined the nature of rework in *** toward addressing the rework problem has been limited-it still plagues practice,adversely impacting a project’s *** all rework studies have focused on determining its proximal or root causes and therefore have overlooked the conditions that result from its *** filling this void,this paper draws upon our previous empirical studies,amongst others,to provide a much-needed theoretical framing to understand better why rework occurs,what its consequences are,and how it can be mitigated during *** theoretical framing we derive from our review provides construction organizations and their projects with a realization that the journey to mitigating rework begins with creating an error-mastery culture comprising authentic leadership,psychological safety,an errormanagement orientation,and *** suggest that,once an error-mastery culture is established within construction organizations and their projects,they will be better positioned to realize the benefits of the techniques,tools,and technologies espoused to address rework,such as the Last Planner® and building information *** also provide directions for future research and identify implications for practice so that strides toward rework mitigation in construction can be made.

Systemic postnatal corticosteroid use for the prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and its relationship to early neurodevelopment in extremely preterm

Background Systemic postnatal corticosteroid use in extremely preterm infants poses a risk of adverse neurodevelopmental *** study explores their use beyond seven days of age with early neurodevelopmental assessments during the fidgety period(9-20 weeks postterm age).Methods This retrospective single-center cohort study included inborn extremely preterm infants from 1 January 2014 to 31 december *** infants,those with congenital or genetic abnormalities,and those who received postnatal cor-ticosteroids for nonrespiratory reasons were *** cohort was dichotomized based on the status of corticosteroid *** neurodevelopmental outcomes were reported using Prechtl's General Movements *** Of the 282 infants,67(23.75%)received *** these,34(50.75%)received them for dependency on invasive ventilation(intermittent positive-pressure ventilation),and the remainder received them for dependency on non-invasive ventilation continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)or bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP).Abnormal or absent fidgety movements were observed in 13% of infants(7/54)who received corticosteroids compared to 2% of infants(3/146)who did *** increased odds for an abnormal general movements assessment from corticosteroid use after adjusting for gestational age[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=5.5,95% confidence interval(CI)=1.14-26.56]was *** motor optimality scores differed between the two groups[corticosteroid group:25.5(23-26)versus no-corticosteroid group:26(24-28);z=-2.02].A motor optimality scored in 14.8% of infants(8/54)in the corticosteroid group compared to 2% of infants(3/146)in the noncorticosteroid *** difference was significant after adjustment for gestational age(aOR 5.96,95%CI 1.28-27.74).Conclusions Abnormal early neurodevelopment was observed in infants who received systemic postnatal *** relationship between these findings and other factors influen

Contemporary management of locally advanced rectal cancer:Resolving issues, controversies and shifting paradigms

Advancements in rectal cancer treatment have resulted in improvement only in locoregional control and have failed to address distant relapse, which is the predominant mode of treatment failure in rectal cancer. As the efficacy of conventional chemoradiotherapy（CRT） followed by total mesorectal excision（TME） reaches a plateau, the need for alternative strategies in locally advanced rectal cancer（LARC） has grown in relevance. Several novel strategies have been conceptualized to address this issue, including： 1） neoadjuvant induction and consolidation chemotherapy before CRT; 2） neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone to avoid the sequelae of radiation; and 3） nonoperative management for patients who achieved pathological or clinical complete response after CRT. This article explores the issues, recent advances and paradigm shifts in the management of LARC and emphasizes the need for a personalized treatment plan for each patient based on tumor stage, location, gene expression and quality of life.
