This paper presents mostly phenomenological reflections on spiritual experience of Julian of Norwich(1342-1416).I investigate mutual relations among immediate divine experience,conceptual understanding of sin and guilt,self-transcendence,and transformation of mental images.I first describe antinomical character of reality to depict a basic ontological situation in which phenomenon of sin may appear;for its better philosophical articulation,I implement Karl Jaspers’philosophical observations.I point out the deep experiential discrepancy between essentially unlimited divine nature of a man and existential limitedness that he or she normally *** this particular context,I elaborate the notion of sin from Julian’s revelations:I qualify it as pain,discordance,clash of intentions,isolation,delusion,and having no ***,I show how(religious)images and correlated concepts must be transformed within the authentic process of spiritual *** this way,Julian invites us to transcend the limited existential situation of antinomies and step toward unbound possibilities of divine goodness which may be found and activated in one’s own inmost being.

BACKGROUND Colon cancer is among the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States with an estimated 97220 new cases expected by the end of *** affects 1.2 million people around the world and is responsible for about 0.6 million deaths every *** decline in overall incidence and mortality over the past 30 years,there continues to be an alarming rise in early-onset colon cancer cases(<50 years).Patients are often diagnosed at late stages of the disease and tend to have poor *** previously showed that the WNT“gatekeeper”gene,secreted frizzled-related protein 4(SFRP4),is over-expressed in early-onset colon ***4 is speculated to play an essential role in cancer by inhibiting the epithelial mesenchymal transition(EMT).AIM To investigate the correlation between SFRP4 expression and EMT-linked genes in colon cancer and how it affects patient *** SFRP4 expression relative to that of EMT-linked genes and survival analysis were performed using the University of California Santa Cruz Cancer Browser *** SFRP4 was found to be co-expressed with the EMT-linked markers CDH2,FN1,VIM,TWIST1,TWIST2,SNAI1,SNAI2,ZEB1,ZEB2,POSTN,MMP2,MMP7,MMP9,and ***4 expression negatively correlated with the EMTlinked suppressors CLDN4,CLDN7,TJP3,MUC1,and *** expression of SFRP4 and the EMT-linked markers was higher in mesenchymal-like samples compared to epithelial-like samples which potentially implicates SFRP4-EMT mechanism in colon ***,patients overexpressing SFRP4 presented with poor overall survival(P=0.0293).CONCLUSION Considering the implication of SFRP4 in early-onset colon cancer,particularly in the context of EMT,tumor metastasis,and invasion,and the effect of increased expression on colon cancer patient survival,SFRP4 might be a potential biomarker for early-onset colon cancer that could be targeted for diagnosis and/or disease therapy.

Influence of COM-peptides/proteins on the properties of flocs formed at different shear rates

Coagulation followed by floc separation is a key process for the removal of algal organic matter(AOM) in water treatment. Besides optimizing coagulation parameters,knowledge of the properties of AOM-flocs is essential to maximizing AOM ***, the impact of AOM on the floc properties remains unclear. This study investigated how peptides/proteins derived from the cellular organic matter(COM) of the cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa influenced the size, structure, and shape of flocs formed at different shear rates(G). Flocs formed by kaolinite, COM-peptides/proteins and a mixture of the same were studied, and the effect of intermolecular interactions between floc components on floc properties was assessed. The coagulation experiments were performed in a Taylor–Couette reactor, with aluminum(Al) or ferric sulphate(Fe) utilized as coagulants. Image analysis was performed to gauge floc size and obtain data on fractal dimension. It was found that floc properties were affected by the presence of the COM-peptides/proteins and the coagulant used. COM-peptides/proteins increased floc size and porosity and widened floc size distributions. The Fe coagulant produced larger and less compact flocs than Al coagulant. Moreover, the decrease in floc size that occurred in parallel with increase in shear rate was not smooth in progress. A rapid change for the kaolinite-coagulant suspension and two rapid changes for the suspensions containing COM were observed. These were attributed to various intermolecular interactions between floc components participating in coagulation at different G. Based on the results obtained, shear rates suitable for efficient separation of flocs containing COM were suggested.

In sweet cherry(Prunus avium L.),quantitative trait loci have been identified for fruit maturity,colour,firmness,and size to develop markers for marker-assisted ***,resolution is usually too low in those analyses to directly target candidate genes,and some associations are *** contrast,genome-wide association studies are performed on broad collections of accessions,and assemblies of reference sequences from Tieton and Satonishiki cultivars enable identification of single nucleotide polymorphisms after whole-genome sequencing,providing high marker *** hundred and thirty-five sweet cherry accessions were sequenced and phenotyped for harvest time and fruit colour,firmness,and ***-wide association studies were used to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with each trait,which were verified in breeding material consisting of 64 additional accessions.A total of 1767106 single nucleotide polymorphisms were *** that density,significant single nucleotide polymorphisms could be linked to co-inherited haplotype blocks(median size∼10 kb).Thus,markers were tightly associated with respective phenotypes,and individual allelic combinations of particular single nucleotide polymorphisms provided links to distinct *** addition,yellow-fruit accessions were sequenced,and a∼90-kb-deletion on chromosome 3 that included five MYB10 transcription factors was associated with the ***,the study confirmed numerous quantitative trait loci from bi-parental populations using high-diversity accession populations,identified novel associations,and genome-wide association studies reduced the size of trait-associated loci from megabases to kilobases and to a few candidate genes per ***,a framework is provided to develop molecular markers and evaluate and characterize genes underlying important agronomic traits.

An investigation has been made on an unsteady Couette flow of a viscous incompressible fluid through a porous me- dium in a rotating system. The solution of the governing equations has been obtained by the use of Laplace transform technique. It is found that the primary velocity decreases and the magnitude of the secondary velocity increases with an increase in rotation parameter. The fluid velocity components are decelerated by an increase of Reynolds number. An increase in porosity parameter leads to increase the primary velocity and the magnitude of the secondary velocity. It is also found that the solution for small time converges more rapidly than the general solution. The asymptotic behavior of the solution is analyzed for small as well as large values of rotation parameter and Reynolds number. It is observed that a thin boundary layer is formed near the moving plate of the channel and the thicknesses of the boundary layer increases with an increase in porosity parameter.

Investigations of ultrafast processes occurring on the nanoscale require a combination of femtosecond pulses and nanometer spatial ***,controlling femtosecond pulses with nanometer accuracy is very challenging,as the limitations imposed both by dispersive optics on the time duration of a pulse and by the spatial diffraction limit on the focusing of light must be overcome *** this paper,we provide a universal method that allows full femtosecond pulse control in subdiffraction-limited *** achieve this aim by exploiting the intrinsic coherence of the second harmonic emission from a single nonlinear nanoparticle of deep subwavelength *** method is proven to be highly sensitive,easy to use,quick,robust and *** approach allows measurements of minimal phase distortions and the delivery of tunable higher harmonic light in a nanometric ***,the method is shown to be compatible with a wide range of particle sizes,shapes and materials,allowing easy optimization for any given *** method will facilitate the investigation of light–matter interactions on the femtosecond–nanometer level in various areas of scientific study.
