Weak influence of natural vegetation in urban green spaces compared to agricultural ecosystems on House martin populations:Insights from nationwide citizen science data in the Czech Republic

The House martin(Delichon urbicum)is a common farmland bird species in the European landscape,yet its population numbers are currently in ***,it is not yet sufficiently explained why this long-term decline *** fill this gap in our knowledge,we investigated how land cover composition affects the abundance of House martins on the landscape scale by using nationwide citizen science *** a generalised linear mixed-effect model(GLMM),we evaluated 12,094 records from the Czech Republic spanning *** analysis underscores the significance of land cover type in shaping House martin *** specifically,our results indicate that within agricultural land covers“naturally managed arable lands”exhibited significant positive effect,while forests,orchards,and vineyards were deemed less favourable for House martin *** urban land covers,we found a clear distinction in the impact on House martin populations,with a positive effect observed in urban infrastructure,development areas,and post-industrial sites(i.e.,UrbanAreas),while an indifferent impact was noted within urban green spaces and landscaped areas(i.e.,GreenUrban).Notably,our findings suggest that the simple spatial,age,and species structure typical of forests in Europe,and similarly,the uniform structure of parks and gardens,may be responsible for the decline in the abundance of the House *** advocate for the preservation or enhancement of urban greenery,expansion of natural vegetation in rural areas and adoption of ecological management practices in orchards and vineyards to mitigate further declines in House martin populations.

We consider entire solutions u of the equations describing the stationary flow of a generalized Newtonian fluid in 2 D concentrating on the question, if a Liouville-type result holds in the sense that the boundedness of u implies its constancy. A positive answer is true for p-fluids in the case p > 1(including the classical Navier-Stokes system for the choice p = 2), and recently we established this Liouville property for the Prandtl-Eyring fluid model,for which the dissipative potential has nearly linear growth. Here we finally discuss the case of perfectly plastic fluids whose flow is governed by a von Mises-type stress-strain relation formally corresponding to the case p = 1. It turns out that, for dissipative potentials of linear growth, the condition of μ-ellipticity with exponent μ < 2 is sufficient for proving the Liouville theorem.

This paper deals mainly with pneumatic measurements on a radial turbine nozzle cascade. The fill radial cascade guarantees the exit flow field periodicity downstream of it. A special traversing mechanism with a five - hole conical probe moving along a circular path behind the cascade was used for flow field investigation in this type of cascade with very low aspect ratio. The analyses of results of 2D and 3D pneumatic measurements including loss coefficient values are presented.

Central Vietnam is very susceptible to soil erosion due to its complicated terrain and heavy rainfall. The objective of this study was to quantify soil erosion in the A Sap river basin, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue Province, Vietnam, using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) and Geographical Informa-tion System (GIS). The results showed that 34% of land area lost accumulated to 10 t ha-1 year-1 while 47% of the total area lost less than 1 t ha-1 year-1. Natural forest land lost the most with an average of about 19 t ha-1 year-1, followed by plantation forest with approximately 7 t ha-1 year-1 and other agricultural lands at 3.70 and 1.45 t ha-1 year-1 for yearly crops and paddy rice, respectively. Soil erosion was most sensitive to the topographic factor (LS), followed by the practice support factor (P), soil erodibility factor (K), cropping management (C), and the rainfall erosivity factor (R). Implications are that changes to the cultivated calendar and implementing intercropping are effective ways to prevent soil erosion in cultivated lands. Furthermore, introducing broad leaves trees for mountainous areas in A Sap basin was the most effective practice in reducing soil erosion. The study also pointed out that the combination of available data sources used with the USLE and GIS technology is a viable option to cal-culate soil erosion in Central Vietnam, which would allow targeted attention toward a solution is to reduce future soil erosion.

The Shibantan Member（Dengying Formation, South China） represents one of only two carbonate settings with Ediacara-type organisms and offers a rare opportunity to study the biogeochemistry of these ecosystems. To evaluate possibilities and limitations for future biomarker studies on fossil-bearing outcrop samples of the Shibantan Member, we analysed the spatial distribution of hydrocarbons in extractable organic matter（i.e. bitumen） on a millimetre scale. Our study demonstrates that the sample and most likely also other rocks from the same setting are contaminated with petroleum-derived compounds that bear the potential for erroneous interpretations in palaeo-reconstructions. The contamination was revealed by distribution patterns and amounts of extractable n-alkanes and acyclic isoprenoids. The contamination is linked to the external weathering surfaces but also to cracks within the rock, and the extent most likely depends on concentration gradients between these contamination sources. Here we show that contamination can successfully be distinguished from syngenetic signals obtained from non-extractable organic matter（i.e. kerogen） using catalytic hydropyrolysis（Hy Py）. However, we observed that decalcification is necessary to achieve sufficient yields of kerogen-bound hydrocarbons and to avoid artificial alteration of the biomarker signals due to matrix effects.
