Dear Editor Strigolactones （SLs） are novel phytohormones that shape plant architecture by inhibiting shoot branching and regulating root growth, besides their established functions in stimulating seed germination of root-parasitic weeds, such as Striga and Phelipanche species, and inducing hyphal branching in arbuscular mycorrhizal （AM） fungi （AI-Babili and Bouwmeester, 2015）. Canonical SLs are divided into strigoland orobanchollike subfamilies with a typical structure consisting of a tricyclic （ABC-ring） and a monocyclic lactone （D-ring）, which are connected by an enol ether bridge （Figure 1A and Supplemental Figure 1）. SLs are synthesized from carotenoids via carlactone, which lacks the B/C-ring （Alder et al., 2012）. In Arabidopsis, carlactone （Figure 1A） is converted by MAX1, a member of the CYP711 family, into carlactonoic acid, after methylation, which, can bind to SL receptor （Abe et al., 2014）. Molecular dynamics （MD） computer simulation techniques, as a powerful tool commonly utilized by the liquid crystal display （LCD） community, usually are employed for computing the equilibrium and transport properties of a classical many body system, since they are very similar to real experiments in many respects. In this paper we pre- sent molecular dynamics computer simulation results taken for a mixture of the two different kinds of nematic liq- uid crystals （LCs）. We calculated rotational viscosity from Brownian behavior with friction of the mean director of the mixture comprising pentylcyanobiphenol （5CB） and decylcyanobiphenol （10CB） by using molecular dynamics computer simulation, where intermolecular potential parameter is Generalized AMBER force field （GAFF）. Our computed results show a good agreement with the experimental results.

The application of cutting fluid is significantly increased in the machining sector to improve ***,the inherent characteristics of cutting fluids on ecology,environment,and society shift the interest of researchers to work on environmentally friendly cooling conditions such as cryogenic ***,the effect of cutting speed and feed rate on the machining performance of the AISI‑L6 tool steel is investigated under cryogenic cooling ***,the L9 Taguchi based grey relational analysis(GRA)is conducted to investigate the essential machining indices such as cutting energy,surface roughness,tool wear,and material removal rate(MRR).The results indicate that the cutting speed of 160 m/min and feed rate of 0.16 mm/r are the optimum parameters that significantly improves the machining performance of AISI‑L6 tool steel.

Dear Editor,Strigolactones （SLs） are a class of carotenoid-derived plant hor-mones that regulate shoot branching among other developmental processes （Gomez-Roldan et al., 2008; Umehara et al., 2008; AI-Babili and Bouwmeester, 2015）. In addition, SLs are released by roots as a chemical signal attracting symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. However, this signal is also perceived by seeds of root parasitic weeds, announcing the presence of a host and triggering germination （AI-Babili and Bouwmeester, 2015）. Natural SLs consist of a butenolide ring （D ring） connected by an enol ether bridge to a tricyclic lactone （ABC rings） in canonical SLs, such as strigol, and to a variable, second moiety in non-canonical SLs, such as methyl carlactonoate.

The low survival rate of Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma(KIRC)patients is largely attributed to cisplatin *** than focusing solely on individual proteins,exploring protein-protein interactions could offer greater insight into drug *** this end,a series of in silico and in vitro experiments were conducted to identify hub genes in the intricate network of cisplatin resistance-related genes in KIRC *** genes involved in cisplatin resistance across KIRC were retrieved from the National Center for Biotechnology Information(NCBI)database using search terms as“Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma”and“Cisplatin resistance”.The genes retrieved were analyzed for hub gene identification using the STRING database and Cytoscape *** and promoter methylation profiling of the hub genes was done using UALCAN,GEPIA,OncoDB,and HPA ***,survival,functional enrichment,immune cell infiltration,and drug prediction analyses of the hub genes were performed using the cBioPortal,GEPIA,GSEA,TIMER,and DrugBank ***,expression and methylation levels of the hub genes were validated on two cisplatin-resistant RCC cell lines(786-O and A-498)and a normal renal tubular epithelial cell line(HK-2)using two high throughput techniques,including targeted bisulfite sequencing(bisulfite-seq)and RT-qPCR.A total of 124 genes were identified as being associated with cisplatin resistance in *** of these genes,MCL1,IGF1R,CCND1,and PTEN were identified as hub genes and were found to have significant(p<0.05)variations in their mRNA and protein expressions and effects on the overall survival(OS)of the KIRC ***,an aberrant promoter methylation pattern was found to be associated with the dysregulation of the hub *** addition to this,hub genes were also linked with different cisplatin resistance-causing ***,hub genes can be targeted with Alvocidib,Estradiol,Tretinoin,Capsaicin,Dronabinol,Metribolone,Calcitriol

Background Bt technology has played significant role in controlling bollworms and increasing cotton yield in earlier days of its introduction,a subsequent decline in yield became apparent over *** decline may be attributed to various environmental factors,pest dynamics,or combination of ***,the present biophysical survey and questionnaire were designed to evaluate the impact of Bt cotton on bollworms management and its effect on reducing spray costs,targeting farmers with varied landholdings and educational ***,data on farmers'cultivated varieties and the prevalence of bollworms and sucking insects in their fields were ***,about eleven thousand cotton samples from farmer fields were tested for Cry1Ac,Cry2Ab and Vip3A genes by strip *** In this analysis,83% of the farmers planting approved varieties believe that Bt technology control bollworms,while 17% hold contradictory ***,among farmers cultivating unapproved varieties,77% agree on effectiveness of Bt technology against bollworms,while 23% *** the other hand,67% of farmers planting approved varieties believe that Bt technology does not reduce spray costs,while 33% agree with the ***,78% of farmers cultivating unapproved varieties express doubt regarding its role to reduce spray costs,while 22% are in favour of this *** in opinions on the effectiveness of Bt cotton in controlling bollworms and reducing spray cost between farmers planting unapproved and approved varieties may stem from several *** major cause is the heavy infestation of sucking insects,which is probably due to the narrow genetic variation of the cultivated ***,the widespread cultivation of unapproved varieties(21.67%)is also an important factor to cause different opinions on the effectiveness of Bt *** Based on our findings,we propose that the ineffective control of pests on cotton crop may

Zaxinone is an apocarotenoid regulatory metabolite required for normal rice growth and *** addition,zaxinone has a large application potential in agriculture,due to its growth-promoting activity and capability to alleviate infestation by the root parasitic plant Striga through decreasing strigolactone(SL)***,zaxinone is poorly accessible to the scientific community because of its laborious organic synthesis that impedes its further investigation and *** this study,we developed easy-to-synthesize and highly efficient mimics of zaxinone(MiZax).We performed a structure-activity relationship study using a series of apocarotenoids distinguished from zaxinone by different structural *** the obtained results,we designed several phenyl-based compounds synthesized with a high-yield through a simple *** tests showed that MiZax3 and MiZax5 exert zaxinone activity in rescuing root growth of a zaxinone-deficient rice mutant,promoting growth,and reducing SL content in roots and root exudates of wild-type ***,these compounds were at least as efficient as zaxinone in suppressing transcript level of SL biosynthesis genes and in alleviating Striga infestation under greenhouse conditions,and did not negatively impact *** together,MiZax are a promising tool for elucidating zaxinone biology and investigating rice development,and suitable candidates for combating Striga and increasing crop growth.
