During air injection into an oil reservoir, an oxidation reaction generates some heat to raise the reservoir temperature. When the reservoir temperature reaches an ignition temperature, spontaneous ignition occurs. There is a time delay from the injection to ignition. There are mixed results regarding the feasibility of spontaneous ignition in real-field projects and in laboratory experiments. No analytical model is available in the literature to estimate the oxidation time req.ired to reach spontaneous ignition with heat *** paper discusses the feasibility of spontaneous ignition from theoretical points and experimental and field project observations. An analytical model considering heat loss is proposed. Analytical models with and without heat loss investigate the factors that affect spontaneous ignition. Based on the discussion and investigations, we find that it is more difficult for spontaneous ignition to occur in laboratory experiments than in oil reservoirs; spontaneous ignition is strongly affected by the initial reservoir temperature, oil activity, and heat loss; spontaneous ignition is only possible when the initial reservoir temperature is high, the oil oxidation rate is high, and the heat loss is low.

Modern power systems are incorporated with distributed energy sources to be environmental-friendly and ***,due to the uncertainties of the system integrated with renewable energy sources,effective strategies need to be adopted to stabilize the entire power ***,the system operators need accurate prediction tools to forecast the dynamic system states *** this paper,we propose a Bayesian deep learning approach to predict the dynamic system state in a general power ***,the input system dataset with multiple system features req.ires the data pre-processing ***,we obtain the dynamic state matrix of a general power system through the Newton-Raphson power flow ***,by incorporating the state matrix with the system features,we propose a Bayesian long short-term memory(BLSTM)network to predict the dynamic system state variables *** results show that the accurate prediction can be achieved at different scales of power systems through the proposed Bayesian deep learning approach.

We present an efficient, robust computational method for modeling the Newtonian dynamics for rotation curve analysis of thin-disk galaxies. With appropriate mathematical treatments, the apparent numerical difficulties associated with singularities in computing elliptic integrals are completely removed. Using a boundary element discretization procedure, the governing eq.ations are transformed into a linear algebra matrix eq.ation that can be solved by straightforward Gauss elimination in one step without further iterations. The numerical code implemented according to our algorithm can accurately determine the surface mass density distribution in a disk galaxy from a measured rotation curve （or vice versa）. For a disk galaxy with a typical flat rotation curve, our modeling results show that the surface mass density monotonically decreases from the galactic center toward the periphery, according to Newtonian dynamics. In a large portion of the galaxy, the surface mass density follows an approximately exponential law of decay with respect to the galactic radial coordinate. Yet the radial scale length for the surface mass density seems to be generally larger than that of the measured brightness distribution, suggesting an increasing mass-tolight ratio with the radial distance in a disk galaxy. In a nondimensionalized form, our mathematical system contains a dimensionless parameter which we call the ＂galactic rotation number＂ that represents the gross ratio of centrifugal force and gravitational force. The value of this galactic rotation number is determined as part of the numerial solution. Through a systematic computational analysis, we have illustrated that the galactic rotation number remains within 4-10% of 1.70 for a wide variety of rotation curves. This implies that the total mass in a disk galaxy is proportional to V02 Rg, with V0 denoting the characteristic rotation velocity （such as the ＂flat＂ value in a typical ro- tation curve） and Rg the radius of the galacti

The population genetic structure of the blacklegged tick Ixodes scapularis was analyzed using 853 individual ticks collected from 12 sites along the eastern seaboard of the United States. PCR-based DNA single strand conformation polymorphism(SSCP) was used for analysis of one haploid locus, the mitochondrial cytochrome b(Cyt b), and one diploid locus, the internal transcribed spacer 1(ITS1) of nuclear ribosomal RNA. Seven haplotypes in the Cyt b locus and 13 genotypes in the ITS1 locus were identified. Population differentiation and isolation by distance were found. Distribution of haplotype and genotype freq.encies across geographic regions suggests that two distinct populations exist along the Eastern Coast of the US. However, genetic variation among individuals within regions was large. This degree of variation suggests freq.ent gene flow between regions. Moreover, overall genetic diversity among individuals was much higher in ticks from the southern population.

RNA interference (RNAi) is an adaptive defense mechanism triggered by double-stranded RNA (dsRNA). It is a powerful reverse genetic tool that has been widely employed to silence gene expression in mammalian and human cells. RNAi-based gene therapies, especially in viral diseases have become more and more interesting and promising. Recently, small interfering RNA (siRNA) can be used to protect host from viral infection, inhibit the expression of viral antigen and accessory genes, control the transcription and replication of viral genome, hinder the assembly of viral particles, and display influences in virus-host interactions. In this review, we attempt to present recent progresses of this breakthrough technology in the above fields and summarize the possibilities of siRNA-based drugs.
