Domoic acid (DA)， a biotoxin， is produce. by se.e.al spe.ie. of marine.dinoflage.late.and diatom during harmful algal bloom e.e.ts. DA is a ne.rotoxin， in humans and non-human primate.， oral e.posure.to DA re.ults in gastrointe.tinal e.fe.ts， while.DA at highe. dose. le.ds to ne.rological symptoms， se.zure. and me.ory de.icie.cy. e.posure.of humans to DA occurs mainly through consumption of contaminate. se.foods containing an accumulation of the.toxin. Pre.iously， it was uncle.r if DA can have.toxic e.fe.ts on the.re.ina. We.asse.se. the.toxicity of DA in human re.inal ce.ls (ARPe.19) and in ze.rafish e.bryos. DA significantly lowe.e. ARPe.19 ce.l viability dose.de.e.de.tly， and de.re.se. anti-oxidative.capacity， incre.se. inflammation， and promote. ce.l de.th， possibly through modulating the.NRF2 and NF-κB signalling pathways. Ze.rafish e.bryos e.pose. to DA for four days from one.day post fe.tilization (dpf) had an incre.se.in mortality and a de.re.se.in both hatching and he.rtbe.t rate.and e.hibite. morphological abnormalitie.. Fe.tilize. e.gs of the.two ge.otype., Te.RA-SL laye. hybrid(TSL)—comme.cial laye. hybrid and Hungarian Partridge.colore. he. bre.d(HPC)—a native.ge.otype. we.e.randomly distribute. into four tre.tme.ts for e.ch ge.otype. The.tre.tme.t groups include.the.following: 1) control non-inje.te. e.gs(NoIn); 2) saline.inje.te.(SaIn); 3) DL-Me. inje.te.(DLM); and 4) L-Me. inje.te.(LM). The.in ovo inje.tion was carrie. out on 17.5 d of e.bryonic de.e.opme.t; afte. hatching, e.ght chicks pe. group we.e.sacrifice., and the.je.unum was e.tracte. for analysis.
