The intensity attenuation of a high-power laser is a frequent task in the measurements of optical *** intensity can be attenuated by inserting an optical element,such as a partial reflector,polarizer or absorption *** devices are,however,not always easily applicable,especially in the case of ultra-high-power lasers,because they can alter the characteristics of a laser beam or become easily *** this study,we demonstrated that the intensity of a laser beam could be effectively attenuated using a random pinhole attenuator(RPA),a device with randomly distributed pinholes,without changing the beam *** this device,a multi-PW laser beam was successfully attenuated and the focused beam profile was measured without any alterations of its *** addition,it was confirmed that the temporal profile of a laser pulse,including the spectral phase,was ***,the RPA possesses significant potential for a wide range of applications.

A facile chemical method for the development of photocatalytic coating products was proposed based on practical application perspective for the Hong Kong roadside nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))***_(2)-based photocatalytic coating Pc-c film with crystallized size of around 5–6 nm was synthesized with the peptization of H_(2)O_(2).The Pc-c coating possesses a super-hydrophilicity surface and is proven to have a NO_(x)degradation rate of 46.8%with an optimum pH level of *** addition,the Pc-c coating presents a promising photocatalytic NO_(x)degradation compared with other commercially available coating products and P25 when applied on two building materials of poly-methyl methacrylate(PMMA)and concrete surface.A weather resistance simulation and a 180-day on-site field trial were carried out the attenuation effects of photocatalytic coating applied in outdoor *** on epidemiological estimation and field investigation,hospital admissions for respiratory diseases(HARD)and mortality cases(Mc)could be reduced with the application of Pc-c coating along the street *** work demonstrates the feasibility of air pollution control measures for the local roadside NO_(x)using photocatalytic technology,offering promising health benefits with environmental remediation.

Electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR)is a sustainable alterna-tive to the Haber-Bosch process for ammonia(NH3)***,the significant uphill energy in the multistep NRR pathway is a bottleneck for favorable serial *** overcome this challenge,we designed a vanadium oxide/nitride(V_(2)O_(3)/VN)hybrid electrocatalyst in which V_(2)O_(3)and VN coex-ist coherently at the heterogeneous *** single-phase V_(2)O_(3)and VN exhibit different surface catalytic kinetics for NRR,the V_(2)O_(3)/VN hybrid elec-trocatalyst can provide alternating reaction pathways,selecting a lower energy pathway for each material in the serial NRR *** a result,the ammo-nia yield of the V_(2)O_(3)/VN hybrid electrocatalyst was 219.6µg h^(-1)cm^(-2),and the Faradaic efficiency was 18.9%,which is much higher than that of single-phase VN,V_(2)O_(3),and VNxOy solid solution catalysts without *** functional theory calculations confirmed that the composition of these hybrid electrocatalysts allows NRR to proceed from a multistep reduction reaction to a low-energy reaction pathway through the migration and adsorption of interme-diate ***,the design of metal oxide/nitride hybrids with coherent heterointerfaces provides a novel strategy for synthesizing highly efficient elec-trochemical catalysts that induce steps favorable for the efficient low-energy progression of NRR.

The photoinduced dipole force(Pi DF) is an attractive force arising from the coulombic interaction between the light-induced dipoles on the illuminated tip and the sample. It shows extreme sample-tip distance and refractive index dependence, which is promising for nanoscale infrared(IR) imaging of ultrathin samples. However, the existence of Pi DF in the mid-IR region has not been experimentally demonstrated due to the coexistence of photoinduced thermal force(Pi TF), typically one to two orders of magnitude higher than Pi DF. In this study, we demonstrate that, with the assistance of surface phonon polaritons, the Pi DF of c-quartz can be enhanced to surpass its Pi TF, enabling a clear observation of Pi DF spectra reflecting the properties of the real part of permittivity. Leveraging the detection of the Pi DF of phonon polaritonic substrate, we propose a strategy to enhance the sensitivity and contrast of photoinduced force responses in transmission images, facilitating the precise differentiation of the heterogeneous distribution of ultrathin samples.

Atomically‐dispersed copper sites coordinated with nitrogen‐doped carbon(cu–N–c)can provide novel possibilities to enable highly selective and active electrochemical cO_(2) reduction ***,the construction of optimal local electronic structures for nitrogen‐coordinated cu sites(cu–N_(4))on carbon remains ***,we synthesized the cu–N–c catalysts with atomically‐dispersed edge‐hosted cu–N_(4) sites(cu–N_(4)c_(8))located in a micropore between two graphitic sheets via a facile method to control the concentration of metal ***‐hosted cu–N_(4)c_(8) catalysts outperformed the previously reported M–N–c catalysts for cO_(2)‐to‐cO conversion,achieving a maximum cO Faradaic efficiency(FEcO)of 96%,a cO current density of–8.97 mA cm^(–2) at–0.8 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE),and over FEcO of 90%from–0.6 to–1.0 V versus *** studies revealed that the micropore of the graphitic layer in edge‐hosted cu–N_(4)c_(8) sites causes the d‐orbital energy level of the cu atom to shift upward,which in return decreases the occupancy of antibonding states in the*cOOH *** research suggests new insights into tailoring the locally coordinated structure of the electrocatalyst at the atomic scale to achieve highly selective electrocatalytic reactions.
