Li-ion battery is one of the key players in energy storage technology empowering electrified and clean transportation ***,it is still associated with high costs due to the expensive material as well as high fluctuations of the manufacturing *** production processes involving mechanical,chemical,and electrical operations makes the predictability of the manufacturing process a challenge,hence the process is optimised through trial and error rather systematic *** establish an in-depth understanding of the interconnected processes and manufacturing parameters,this paper combines data-mining techniques and real production to offer a method for the systematic analysis,understanding and improving the Li-ion battery electrode manufacturing *** novelty of this research is that unlike most of the existing research that are focused on cathode manufacturing only,it covers both of the cathode and anode case ***,it is based on real manufacturing data,proposes a systematic design of experiment method for generating high quality and representative data,and leverages the artificial intelligence techniques to identify the dependencies in between the manufacturing parameters and the key quality factors of the *** this study,machine learning models are developed to quantify the predictability of electrode and cell properties given the coating process control ***,the manufacturing parameters are ranked and their contribution to the electrode and cell characteristics are quantified by *** systematic data acquisition approach as well as the quantified interdependencies are expected to assist the manufacturer when moving towards an improved battery production chain.

The increasing shortage of donors and the adverse effects of immunosuppression have restricted the impact of solid organ *** the initial promising developments in xenotransplantation,roadblocks still need to be overcome and this form of organ support remains a long way from clinical *** hepatocyte transplantation may be effectively correct metabolic defects,it is far less effective in restoring liver function than liver *** engineering,using extracellular matrix scaffolds with an intact but decellularized vascular network that is repopulated with autologous or allogeneic stem cells and/or adult cells,holds great promise for the treatment of failure of organs within gastrointestinal tract,such as endstage liver disease,pancreatic insufficiency,bowel failure and type 1 *** in the liver field,where there is a significant mortality of patients awaiting transplant,human bioengineering may offer a source of readily available organs for *** use of autologous cells will mitigate the need for long term immunosuppression thus removing a major hurdle in transplantation.

Animal-attached technologies can be powerful means to quantify space use and behavior;however,there are also ethical implications associated with capturing and instrumenting ***,tagging approaches are not necessarily well-suited for examining the movements of multiple individuals within specific,local areas of ***,we assess a method of quantifying animal space use based on a modified theodolite with an inbuilt laser *** a database of>4200 tracks of migrating birds,we show that detection distance in-creases with bird body mass(range 5 g to>10 kg).The maximum distance recorded to a bird was 5500 m and measurement error was≤5 m for targets within this distance range:a level comparable to methods such as GPS *** go on to present a case study where this method was used to assess habitat selection in seabirds operating in dynamic coastal waters close to a tidal *** positional data with outputs from a hydrographic model revealed that great cormorants(Phalacrocorax carbo)appeared to be highly selective of current characteristics in space and time,exploiting areas where mean current speeds were<0.8 m∙s^(−1) and diving at times when turbulent energy levels were *** birds also oriented into tidal currents during *** together,this suggests that collision risks are low for cormorants at this site,as the 2 conditions avoided by cormorants(high mean current speeds and turbulence levels)are associated with operational tidal ***-all,we suggest that this modified theodolite system is well-suited to the quantification of movement in small areas associated with particular development strategies,including sustainable energy devices.

One of the major challenges faced by the biomedical industry is the development of robust synthetic surfaces that can resist bacterial colonization. Much inspiration has been drawn recently from naturally occurring mechano-bactericidal surfaces such as the wings of cicada(Psaltoda claripennis) and dragonfly(Diplacodes bipunctata) species in fabricating their synthetic analogs. However,the bactericidal activity of nanostructured surfaces is observed in a particular range of parameters reflecting the geometry of nanostructures and surface wettability. Here,several of the nanometer-scale characteristics of black silicon(bSi) surfaces including the density and height of the nanopillars that have the potential to influence the bactericidal efficiency of these nanostructured surfaces have been investigated. The results provide important evidence that minor variations in the nanoarchitecture of substrata can substantially alter their performance as bactericidal surfaces.

We focus on the optimization of SiGe material deposition, the minimization of the parasitic capacitance of the probe pads for high speed, low voltage and high contrast ratio operation. The device fabrication is based on processes for standard Si electronics and is suitable for mass-production. We present observations of quantum confinement and quantum-confined Stark effect （QCSE） electroabsorption in Ge quantum wells （QWs） with SiGe barriers grown on Si substrates. Though Ge is an indirect gap semiconductor, the resulting effects are at least as clear and strong as seen in typical III-V QW structures at similar wavelengths. We also demonstrated a modulator, with eye diagrams of up to 3.5 GHz, a small driving voltage of 2.5 V and a modulation bandwidth at about 10 GHz. Finally, carrier dynamics under ultra-fast laser excitation and high- speed photocurrent response are investigated.

＜正＞Objective Phosphodiseterase（PDE） is a superfamily of enzymes that catalyzes the hydrolysis of intracellular cAMP and/or *** the 11 PDE families（PDE1-11）,PDE4 is the most important family in the control of intracellular cAMP *** has been well established that PDE4 plays an essentia]role in the mediation of ***,it is not known whether PDE4 is involved in memory associated with Alzheimer’s disease（AD）. The objective of this study was to identify the role of PDE4 and its isoforms（PDE4A-D） in AD-related memory. Methods Mice deficient in PDE4A,PDE4B,or PDE4D were microinfused withβ-amyloid peptide 1-42（Aβ42;0.4μg/side） or vehicle into bilateral dorsal hippocampi before memory tests using the object recognition,passive avoidance,and Morris water-maze *** silencing was used to identify the role of PDE4 variants in memory. Expression of phosphorylated CREB（pCREB） in the hippocampus was also examined using Western blotting analysis. Results Mice deficient in PDE4A or PDE4D,but not PDE4B,displayed memory enhancement in one or all of the memory ***4A or PDE4D knockout mice also exhibited reversal of Aβ42-induced memory impairment, which was observed in wild-type mice in the object recognition,passive avoidance,and water-maze ***, microinfusions of lentiviral vectors containing microRNAs（miRNAs） that target long-form PDE4D splice variants mimicked the ability of PDE4D deficiency to enhance memory in normal mice;the miRNAs also reversed Aβ42- induced memory deficits in the radial arm maze test in ***,Aβ42 decreased pCREB levels in the hippocampus of wild-type mice or negative control sequence-treated rats,but not mice deficient in PDE4A or PDE4D nor rats treated with *** These results suggest that both PDE4A and PDE4D,in particular the long-form PDE4D isoforms,play an important role in the mediation of memory associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
