In the present work the synthesis of C60 produced in a conventional microwave oven from the decomposition of camphor resin is reported. The polycrystalline structure of the sample was determined by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), the sample showed several phases, the main phase corresponds to fullerene C60 ordered in a Face-Centered Cubic structure (FCC), with two more structures: one orthorhombic system and the other the monoclinic system coexisting also with graphite 2H phase. It was observed in a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), that the sample formed thin films of stacked carbon. Whereas in a High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM), measurements in Bright Field mode revealed that the main phase of the material is C60 ordered in FCC structure and the elemental composition and atomic bonding state can be determined by analyzing the energy with the electron microscope by Elesctron Energy- loss Spectroscopy (EElS), technique allowed confirm all the phase C60 established with XRD observations.

The aim of the work was to analyze and expose the donor and recipient riskfactors in pancreas transplantation. In the following paper, we exposed the 2018Spanish Consensus Document on Donor and Recipient Selection Criteria forPancreas Transplantation. An assessment of the previous Selection Criteria forDonors and Recipients of Pancreas Transplantation, published in 2005 by theSpanish Pancreas Transplant Group (GETP) and the National TransplantOrganization (ONT) was performed. A literature review was performed usingCochrane library, PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Some of the followingterms were used for the literature search: “Diabetes Mellitus,” “PancreasTransplantation,” “Insulin-Secreting Cells,” “Pancreas Allograft Thrombosis,”“Allograft Pancreatitis,” “Donors’ Risk Factors,” “Recipients’ Risk Factors,”“Pancreas Allograft Rejection” and “Pancreas Allograft Survival.” After anextended search, different inclusion criteria were established. Articles anddocuments with abstracts of full text and in English or Spanish language wereselected. Subsequently, different scientific meetings took place during 2015 and2016 by the GETP. Finally, the updated criteria were published by the GETP andONT in 2018. Several risk factors have been described in pancreas transplantationthat can be divided into donor risk factors: Advanced age (> 50 years);high bodymass index (BMI) (> 30 kg/m2);cause of death (e.g., stroke);previoushyperglycemia;hyperamylasemia;cold ischemia time (greater than 8 or 12 h,depending on the type of donation);the use of vasopressors in the intensive careunit or cardiac arrest;and the macroscopic aspect of the pancreas allograft. Thefollowing are recipient risk factors: Advanced age (> 50 years);active smoking;high BMI (> 30 kg/m2);and peripheral artery disease or sensorimotorpolyneuropathy. Fibrosing cholestatic hepatitis(FCH) is a variant of viral hepatitis reported in hepatitis B virus or hepatitis C virus infected liver,renal or bone transplantation recipients and in leukemia and lymphoma patients after conventional cytotoxic *** constitutes a well-described form of fulminant hepatitis having extensive fibrosis and severe cholestasis as its most characteristic pathological ***,we report a case of a 49-year-old patient diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer who developed this condition following conventional chemotherapy-induced *** is the first reported case in the literature of FCH after conventional chemotherapy for a solid *** addition to a detailed report of the case,a physiopathological examination of this potentially life-threatening condition and its treatment options are discussed.

Sexual selection by female choice can shape the evolution of male traits within populations, since the most attractive males experience an increase in fitness through elevated mating success. Speciation by sexual selection occurs when evolution in traits and preferences within populations causes differentiation among populations, such that females in alternative populations prefer sexual signals of their own population relative to others. Differentiated traits and preferences thereby play an active role in limiting gene flow between divergent populations. The effectiveness of differentiated preferences in maintaining differentiated male signals against the homogenizing effects of gene flow across populations will be limited by both the degree to which fe- males can discriminate against non-local males, and the breeding values of traits and preferences. Populations of the Hawaiian cricket laupala cerasina have diverged in pulse rate, a sexually selected male signal, and female acoustic preference for pulse rate. Gene flow between neighboring populations may be reduced if migrants from sexually diverged populations experience re- duced mating success. We show that females discriminate among divergent songs characteristic of neighboring populations, that differences among populations in song and preference breed true in a common environment, and that mean preferences for each population closely match the mean pulse rates. Divergence in preference was observed only between populations that also dif- fered in song. Along with a striking ability to discriminate slight differences in song, correlated evolution of song and preference within populations could be a mechanism that promotes assortative mating among populations, thereby reducing gene flow, and leading to speciation in laupala [Current Zoology 58 （3）： 416-425, 2012].

Background： Sperm DNA fragmentation（sDF） has been proved to be an important parameter in order to predict in vitro the potential fertility of a semen sample. Colloid centrifugation could be a suitable technique to select those donkey sperm more resistant to DNA fragmentation after thawing. Previous studies have shown that to elucidate the latent damage of the DNA molecule, sDF should be assessed dynamically, where the rate of fragmentation between treatments indicates how resistant the DNA is to iatrogenic damage. The rate of fragmentation is calculated using the slope of a linear regression equation. However, it has not been studied if s DF dynamics fit this model. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of different after-thawing centrifugation protocols on sperm DNA fragmentation and elucidate the most accurate mathematical model（linear regression, exponential or polynomial） for DNA fragmentation over time in frozen-thawed donkey ***： After submitting post-thaw semen samples to no centrifugation（UDC）, sperm washing（SW） or single layer centrifugation（SlC） protocols, sD F values after 6 h of incubation were significantly lower in SlC samples than in SW or *** of determination（R-2） values were significantly higher for a second order polynomial model than for linear or exponential. The highest values for acceleration of fragmentation（aSDF） were obtained for SW, fol owed by SlC and ***： SlC after thawing seems to preserve longer DNA longevity in comparison to UDC and SW. Moreover,the fine-tuning of models has shown that sDF dynamics in frozen-thawed donkey semen fit a second order polynomial model, which implies that fragmentation rate is not constant and fragmentation acceleration must be taken into account to elucidate hidden damage in the DNA molecule.

A 26-year-old male with a history of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM) and ventricular arrhythmias s/p automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator(AICD) placement presented for open reduction and internal fixation of an open third metacarpal fracture and extensor tendon repair. He underwent successful surgery after placement of an ultrasound-guided infraclavicular brachial plexus block with ropivacaine 0.5% as the main anesthetic. This case report discusses the anesthetic management of patients with HCM and AICD, different approaches available for brachial plexus blockade, and potential complications of anesthesia and surgery in this group of patients.

The reliability optimization process in earthquake engineering requires that the expected present value of the total cost is minimized, including the initial cost as well as the damage costs caused by earthquakes, which include indirect costs. One of these costs is concerned with how much society is willing to invest for preserving human life. Ethical principles, on which to base the assessment of this cost, are presented and discussed in this work. Individual and social values are analyzed. Finally, an optimal seismic design coefficient with the results obtained is calculated for a site with low seismicity.
