OBJECTIVE:To examine the role of KSOP1009(a modified formulation of Suhexiang Wan essential oil)in an animal model of Parkinson's disease(PD)induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridine(MPTP)***:Cell toxicity,apoptosis,and reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels were analyzed in the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5 *** that,changes in animal behavior and tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)protein levels in the substantia nigra(SN)of MPTP-injected mice were *** different doses of KSOP1009(30,100,and 300 mg/kg,n=8 for each group)were administered daily for 7 d before MPTP injection and 14 d after MPTP injection,totaling 21 ***:MPP+,the active metabolite of MPTP,decreased the viability of SH-SY5 Y cells,whereas KSOP1009 alleviated MPP+-induced ***1009(10 and 50 mg/m L)reduced MPP+-induced ROS generation compared with the control *** with 1 m M MPP+increased the percentage of depolarized/live cells,whereas KSOP1009 intake at a dose of 10 mg/m L decreased the percentage of these *** mean latency to fall in the rotarod test was reduced in mice treated with MPTP compared with the control ***,mice receiving three different doses of KSOP1009 performed better than MPTP-treated ***-treated mice were more hesitant and took longer to traverse the balance beam than the control *** contrast,KSOP1009-treated mice performed significantly better than MPTPtreated ***,the KSOP1009-treated groups had a significantly higher number of TH-positive neurons in the lesioned SN and significantly higher expression of TH in the striatum than the MPTP-treated *** treatment strongly induced Jun-N-terminal kinase(JNK)activation,whereas KSOP1009 suppressed MPTP-induced JNK *** addition,KSOP1009 intake reversed the decrease in the phosphorylation levels of c AMP-response element-binding protein in the brain of MPTP-treated ***1009 also restored the decrease in dopaminergic

Mobile Memory Management System Based on User’s Application Usage Patterns

Currently,the number of functions to improve user convenience in smartphone applications is *** addition,more mobile applications are being loaded into mobile operating system memory for faster launches,thus increasing the memory requirements for *** memory used by applications in mobile operating systems is managed using software;allocated memory is freed up by either considering the usage state of the application or terminating the least recently used(LRU)*** LRU-based memory management schemes do not consider the application launch frequency in a low memory situation,currently used mobile operating systems can lead to the termination of a frequently executed application,thereby increasing its relaunch *** study proposes a memory management system that can efficiently utilize the main memory space by analyzing the application usage *** proposed system reduces the application launch time by leaving the most frequently used or likely to be run applications in the main memory for as long as *** performance evaluation conducted utilizing actual smartphone usage records showed that the proposed memory management system increases the number of times the applications resume from the main memory compared with the conventional memory management system,and that the average application execution time is reduced by approximately 17%.

Cluster-Based Stable BSM Dissemination System for Safe Autonomous Platooning

Recently,the importance of vehicle safety supporting system has been highlighted as autonomous driving and platooning has attracted the *** ensure driving safety,each vehicle must broadcast a basic safety message(BSM)every 100 ***,stable BSM exchange is difficult because of the changing environment and limited bandwidth of vehicular wireless *** increasing number of vehicles on the road increases the competition to access wireless networks for BSM exchange;this increases the packet collision *** increased packet collision rate impairs the transmission and reception of BSM information,which can easily cause a traffic *** propose a solution,the vehicular safety support system(V3S),which exchanges BSMs reliably even when many vehicles are on the *** V3S uses a clustering scheme to decrease network traffic by reducing the amount of data exchanged between a vehicle and the roadside unit(RSU).In addition,the V3S reduces the collision rate of wireless network packets by broadcasting the vehicle’s BSM in an allocated timeslot using the time division multiple access(TDMA)MAC *** V3S also deals with insufficient bandwidth for dedicated short-range communications(DSRC)by changing DSRC channels according to traffic *** evaluating the packet error rate for stable BSM packet delivery,the V3S demonstrates an excellent packet error rate of less than 1%,compared to the 802.11p with its packet error rate of 82%.

We report the fabrication process of piezoelectric cellulose paper and the enhancement method of its piezoelectric property. Stretching method with different wet-drawing ratios was introduced to increase the piezoelectric property of cellulose paper during regeneration *** is observed that the Young's modulus and the piezoelectric charge constants are very dependent on the drawing ratio and the direction of nanofibrils of piezoelectric *** the enhanced piezoelectric property,we prove that the flexible regenerated piezoelectric cellulose can be applied to the potential acoustic applications such as thin piezoelectric paper speaker.

Task Offloading Based on Vehicular Edge Computing for Autonomous Platooning

Autonomous platooning technology is regarded as one of the promising technologies for the future and the research is conducted *** autonomous platooning task generally requires highly complex computations so it is difficult to process only with the vehicle’s processing *** solve this problem,there are many studies on task offloading technique which transfers complex tasks to their neighboring vehicles or computation ***,the existing task offloading techniques which mainly use learning-based algorithms are difficult to respond to the real-time changing road environment due to their *** are also challenging to process computation tasks within 100 ms which is the time limit for driving *** this paper,we propose a novel offloading scheme that can support autonomous platooning tasks being processed within the limit and ensure driving *** proposed scheme can handle computation tasks by considering the communication bandwidth,delay,and amount of *** also conduct simulations in the highway environment to evaluate the existing scheme and the proposed *** result shows that our proposed scheme improves the utilization of nearby computing nodes,and the offloading tasks can be processed within the time for driving safety.

Data Utilization-Based Adaptive Data Management Method for Distributed Storage System in WAN Environment

Recently,research on a distributed storage system that efficiently manages a large amount of data has been actively conducted following data production and demand *** expansion limits exist for traditional standalone storage systems,such as I/O and file system ***,the existing distributed storage system does not consider where data is consumed and is more focused on data dissemination and optimizing the lookup cost of data *** this leads to system performance degradation due to low locality occurring in a Wide Area Network(WAN)environment with high network *** problem hinders deploying distributed storage systems to multiple data centers over *** lowers the scalability of distributed storage systems to accommodate data storage *** paper proposes a method for distributing data in a WAN environment considering network latency and data locality to solve this problem and increase overall system *** proposed distributed storage method monitors data utilization and locality to classify data temperature as hot,warm,and *** assigned data temperature,the proposed algorithm adaptively selects the appropriate data center and places data accordingly to overcome the excess latency from the WAN environment,leading to overall system performance *** paper also conducts simulations to evaluate the proposed and existing distributed storage *** result shows that our proposed method reduced latency by 38%compared to the existing ***,the proposed method in this paper can be used in large-scale distributed storage systems over a WAN environment to improve latency and performance compared to existing methods,such as consistent hashing.

Green Nanocomposites Made With Polyvinyl Alcohol and Cellulose Nanofibers Isolated From Recycled Paper

This paper reports green nanocomposites made by blending polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)with cellulose nanofiber(CNF)isolated from recycled deinked copy/printing paper(DIP).The reinforcement effect of DIPCNF in the nanocomposites is compared with other CNFs isolated from native cotton and hardwood by means of *** prepared PVA-CNF nanocomposites are characterized in terms of morphology,chemical interaction,structural,thermal and mechanical properties.X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirm the reinforcing ability of cellulose nanofibers into *** blending CNFs into PVA matrix,the thermal stability of the nanocomposites is improved and DIPCNF shows similar enhancement effect with COCNF and *** prepared nanocomposites exhibit 50%Young’s modulus improvement by adding 6%of CNF and DIPCNF exhibits similar enhancement of the mechanical properties to COCNF and HWCNF in the *** indicates that the use of DIPCNF is beneficial for environment protection,resource retaining and save energy in comparison with COCNF and HWCNF.

Effective parameters on polydimethylsiloxane/graphene composite-based triboelectric nanogenerator performance

This paper systematically investigates the effective parameter ontheperformanceof polydimethylsiloxane/graphene(PDMS@Gr)-based triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)as well as their ***@Gr films containing 0,0.05,0.5,1,and 1.5 wt.%graphene are synthesized,and their sur-face characteristics,mechanical behavior,and electrical prop-erties are *** contact-separation mode TENGs are fabricated,and their performance is *** results demonstrate that the surface roughness and sur-face charge density are the most critical parameters for the performance of PDMS@Gr-based TENGs compared to the elec-trical and mechanical properties of the friction *** PDMS@Gr-based TENG with 1 wt.%graphene shows the high-est power output of 2.6 W/m?at an optimized working con-dition(5 Hz and 15 N).It also exhibits stable power output until 15,oo0 working cycles and displays battery-free applica-tions by powering a light-emitting diode(LED)array,a calculator,a digital watch,and a digital thermometer.

Characterization and sensor application of cellulose electro-active paper (EAPap)

As a novel piezoelectric material, the mechanical and piezoelectric properties of cellulose electro-active paper (EAPap) were studied. Young's modulus of piezoelectric EAPap was dependant on the material orientation as compared with other EAP materials. The highest Young's modulus was obtained at 0° direction, while the highest direct piezoelectric charge constant was achieved at 45°. By measuring the induced output voltage from the thin piezoelectric cellulose film under the applied impact force, we demonstrate that piezoelectric EAPap film has a potential for sensor applications.

Cellulose is a renewable biomass material and natural polymer which is abundantly available on Earth,and includes agricultural wastes,forestry residues,and woody *** excellent and smart characteristics of cellulose materials,such as lightweight,biocompatibility,biodegradability,high mechanical strength/stiffness and low thermal expansibility,have made cellulose a highpotential material for various industry *** has recently been discovered as a smart material in the electroactive polymers family which carries the name of cellulose-based electroactive paper(EAPap).The shear piezoelectricity in cellulose polymers is able to induce large displacement output,low actuation voltage,and low power consumption in the application of biomimetic sensors/actuators and electromechanical *** present study provides an overview of biomass pretreatment from various lignocellulosic cellulose(LC)resources and nanocellulose production via TEMPO-mediated oxidation reaction,followed by the production of different types of EAPap versus its performance,and lastly the applications of EAPap in different areas and ***,LC biomass consists mainly of cellulose having a small content of hemicelluloses and lignins which form a defensive inner structure against the degradation of plant cell ***,selective approaches are discussed to ensure proper extraction of cellulosic fibers from complex biomass for further minimization to *** addition,a comprehensive review of the development of cellulose-based EAPap as well as fabrication,characterization,performance enhancement and applications of EAPap devices are discussed herein.
