Inverse relationship between bioavailable testosterone and subclinical coronary artery calcification in non-obese Korean men

Although low testosterone levels in men have been associated with high risk for cardiovascular disease, little is known about the association between male sex hormones and subclinical coronary disease in men with apparently low cardiometabolic risk. This study was performed to investigate the association between male sex hormones and subclinical coronary artery calcification measured as coronary calcium score in non-obese Korean men. We examined the relationship of total testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin, bioavai lable testosterone and free testosterone with coronary calcium score in 291 non-obese Korean men （mean age： 52.8--- 9.3 years） not having a history of cardiovascular disease. Using multiple linear regression, we evaluated associations between log （sex hormone） levels and log （coronary calcium score） after adjusting for confounding variables in 105 men with some degree of coronary calcification defined as coronary calcium score ~〉 1. In multiple linear regression analysis, bioavailable testosterone was inversely associated with coronary calcium score （P=0.046） after adjusting for age, body mass index, smoking status, alcohol consumption, regular exercise, mean blood pressure, resting heart rate, C-reactive protein, fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein （HDL） cholesterol, hypertension medication and hyperlipidernia medication, whereas total testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin and free testosterone were not （P=0.674, P=O. 121 and P=O. 102, respectively）. Our findings indicate that bioavailable testosterone is inversely associated with the degree of subclinical coronary artery calcification in non-obese men.

Mixed-dimensional composite structures using zero-dimensional(0D)quantum dots(QDs)and two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)materials are expected to attract great interest in optoelectronics due to the potential to generate new optical ***,we report on the unique optical characteristics of a devices with mixed dimensional vertically stacked structures based on tungsten diselenide(WSe_(2))/CdSeS QDs monolayer/molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))(2D/0D/2D).Specifically,it exhibits an ambipolar photoresponse characteristic,with a negative photoresponse observed in the 400-600 nm wavelength range and a positive photoresponse appeared at 700 nm *** resulted in the high negative responsivity of up to 52.22 mA·W^(−1)under 400 nm,which is 163 times higher than that of the photodetector without CdSeS *** also demonstrated the negative photoresponse,which could be due to increased carrier collision probability and non-radiative *** modeling and simulation reveal that Auger recombination among the types of non-radiative recombination is the main cause of negative photocurrent ***,we discovered ambipolar photoresponse near a specific wavelength corresponding to the energy of quantum *** study revealed interesting phenomenon in the mixed low-dimensional stacked structure and paved the way to exploit it for the development of innovative photodetection materials as well as for optoelectronic applications.

Neurologic function implemented soft organic electronic skin holds promise for wide range of applications,such as skin prosthetics,neurorobot,bioelectronics,human-robotic interaction(HRI),***,we report the development of a fully rubbery synaptic transistor which consists of all-organic materials,which shows unique synaptic characteristics existing in biological *** synaptic characteristics retained even under mechanical stretch by 30%.We further developed a neurological electronic skin in a fully rubbery format based on two mechanoreceptors(for synaptic potentiation or depression)of pressure-sensitive rubber and an all-organic synaptic *** converting tactile signals into Morse Code,potentiation and depression of excitatory postsynaptic current(EPSC)signals allow the neurological electronic skin on a human forearm to communicate with a robotic *** collective studies on the materials,devices,and their characteristics revealed the fundamental aspects and applicability of the all-organic synaptic transistor and the neurological electronic skin.

Energy harvesting and light detection are key technologies in various emerging optoelectronic *** high absorption capability and bandgap tunability of organic semiconductors make them promising candidates for such ***,a poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl)(P3HT):indene-C60 bisadduct(ICBA)bulk heterojunction-based organic photodiode(OPD)was reported,demonstrating dual functionality as an indoor photovoltaic(PV)and as a high-speed *** OPD demonstrated decent indoor PV performance with a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of(11.6±0.5)%under a light emitting diode(LED)lamp with a luminance of 1000 *** a photodetector,this device exhibited a decent photoresponsivity of 0.15 A/W(green light)with an excellent linear dynamic range(LDR)of over 127 dB within the optical power range of 3.74×10^(−7) to 9.6×10^(−2) W/cm^(2).Furthermore,fast photoswitching behaviors could be observed with the rising/falling times of 14.5/10.4μs and a cutoff(3 dB)frequency of 37 *** results might pave the way for further development of organic optoelectronic applications.

Anesthetics management of a renal angiomyolipoma using pulse pressure variation and non-invasive cardiac output monitoring: A case report

BACKGROUND Hypovolemic shock can lead to life-threatening organ dysfunction,and adequate fluid administration is a fundamental ***,parameters such as vital signs,central venous pressure,and urine output have been used to estimate intravascular ***,pulse pressure variation(PPV)and non-invasive cardiac monitoring devices have been *** this case report,we introduce a patient with massive active bleeding from giant renal angiomyolipoma(AML).During emergent nephrectomy,we used non-invasive cardiac monitoring with CSN-1901(Nihon Kohden,Tokyo,Japan)and PPV to evaluate the patient's intravascular volume status to achieve optimal fluid *** SUMMARY A 30-year-old male patient with giant AML with active bleeding was referred to the emergency room complaining of severe abdominal pain and spontaneous abdominal *** was diagnosed by computed tomography,and emergent nephrectomy was *** bleeding was expected so we decided to use non-invasive cardiac monitoring and PPV to assist fluid therapy because they are relatively easy and fast compared to invasive cardiac *** the surgery,6000 mL of estimated blood loss *** with the patient's vital signs and laboratory results,we monitored cardiac output,cardiac output,stroke volume,stroke volume index with a non-invasive cardiac monitoring device,and PPV using an intra-arterial catheter to evaluate intravascular volume status of the patient to compensate for massive *** In addition to traditional parameters,non-invasive cardiac monitoring and PPV are useful methods to evaluate patient's intravascular volume status and provideguidance for intraoperative management of hypovolemic shock patients.
