NaF-FeF2 nanocomposite： New type of Na-ion battery cathode material

Na-ion batteries （NIBs） are considered one of the most attractive alternatives for Li-ion batteries （LIBs） because of the natural abundance of Na and the similarities between the NIB technology and the well-established LIB technology. However, the discovery of high-performance electrode materials remains a key factor in the success of NIBs. Herein, we propose a new type of cathode material for NIBs based on a nanocomposite of an alkali metal fluoride （NaF） and a transition metal fluoride （FeF2）. Although neither of these components is electrochemically active with Na, the nanoscale mixture of the two can deliver a reversible capacity of -125 mAh/g in the voltage range of 1.2--4.8 V vs. Na/Na＋ via an Fe2＋/Fe3＋ redox couple. X-ray absorption spectroscopy reveals that the reversible Na storage is aided by the F-ions due to the decomposition of NaF, which are absorbed on the surface of FeF2, promoting the redox reaction of Fe and triggering the gradual transformation of the mother structure （FeF2） into a new （FeFB-like） host structure for the Na ions. This unique Na-ion storage phenomenon, which is reported for the first time, will introduce an avenue for designing novel cathode materials for NIBs.

Effects of Al addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of extruded Mg-3Bi alloy

Effects of Al addition to a Mg±Bi binary alloy on its microstructural characteristics and tensile properties after extrusion are investigated via extrusion of Mg-3Bi±x Al(x=0,1,and 2 wt%)billets and analysis of the extruded *** Al addition negligibly affects the second-phase particles of the extruded alloy;however,an increase in the Al content causes significant decreases in the average grain size and maximum texture intensity of the extruded material owing to an increase in the area fraction of dynamically recrystallized(DRXed)*** Al addition improves the strength of the extruded alloy;this improvement is attributed to the enhanced grain-boundary hardening and solid-solution hardening effects induced by grain refinement and Al solute atoms,*** the Al content increases from 0 wt%to 1 wt%and 2 wt%,the tensile elongation increases substantially from 2.8%to 9.4%and 16.9%,*** reduction in the number and size of un DRXed grains with increasing Al content suppresses the formation and coalescence of cracks in the un DRXed grains during tension,which results in a significant improvement in the tensile ductility of the extruded *** tensile deformation,large undesirable twins that act as crack initiation sites are locally formed in the un DRXed grains of the Mg-3Bi alloy,whereas relatively smaller twins are uniformly formed in both the DRXed and the un DRXed grains of the Mg-3Bi-2Al ***,the extruded Mg-3Bi-2Al alloy has a substantially higher tensile yield strength±elongation product(2924 MPa%)than the extruded Al-free B3 alloy(381 MPa%).

A case study of customer satisfaction for information technology solutions

There are numerous information technology solutions including hardware and software. A company that provides the solution should have knowledge of the customer needs in the purpose of sailing strategy or upgrade policy. The needs are also directly connected to the user satisfaction. However, the users have respective points of view in the needs as well as they may not identify the requirements to improve the solution. SERVQUAL can be an appropriate method to define and measure the customer satisfaction for the information technology solutions. As a case study of the customer satisfaction, the modified SERVQUAL items and scoring method are applied to a cyber-infrastructure system named CyberL ab in Korea. The measurement results of user satisfaction for CyberL ab are provided to confirm that our proposed method performs as we intended. From the results, we can score the satisfaction level of users and identify their needs in the various aspects. The total user satisfaction level for CyberL ab is scored by 88.3.

As fifth generation technology standard(5G)technology develops,the possibility of being exposed to the risk of cyber-attacks that exploits vulnerabilities in the 5G environment is *** existing personal recognitionmethod used for granting permission is a password-basedmethod,which causes security ***,personal recognition studies using bio-signals are being conducted as a method to access control to *** bio-signal,surface electromyogram(sEMG)can solve the existing personal recognition problem that was unable to the modification of registered information owing to the characteristic changes in its signal according to the performed ***,as an advantage,sEMG can be conveniently measured from arms and *** paper proposes a personal recognition method using sEMG,based on a multi-stream convolutional neural network(CNN).The proposed method decomposes sEMG signals into intrinsic mode functions(IMF)using empirical mode decomposition(EMD)and transforms each IMF into a *** recognition is performed by analyzing time–frequency features from the spectrogram transformed *** database(DB)adopted in this paper is the Ninapro DB,which is a benchmark EMG *** experimental results indicate that the personal recognition performance of the multi-stream CNN using the IMF spectrogram improved by 1.91%,compared with the singlestream CNN using the spectrogram of raw sEMG.

Laparoscopic resection of an adrenal pseudocyst mimicking a retroperitoneal mucinous cystic neoplasm

Adrenal pseudocysts are rare cystic masses that arise within the adrenal gland and are usually non-functional and asymptomatic. Adrenal pseudocysts consist of a fibrous wall without a cellular lining. We report a patient with a 9 cm, left-sided suprarenal cystic mass who presented with abdominal discomfort of 2 years＇ duration. A 38-year-old woman was referred to our service for evaluation of abdominal discomfort and gastrointestinal symptoms. Routine laboratory tests were within normal limits. An abdominal computed tomography scan showed a 9 cm × 8 cm × 8 cm well-defined cystic lesion displacing the left kidney. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a cystic lesion with low signal intensity on the Tl-weighted image and high signal intensity on the T2-weighted image. A laparoscopic left adrenalectomy was performed to diagnose the lesion. The final pathology showed an adrenal pseudocyst without a cellular lining. The patient had no postoperative complications and she was discharged four days after surgery.

Few long-term follow-up studies have compared the changes in renal function according to the type of statin used in *** compared the long-term effects of statin intensity and type on the changes in the glomerular filtration rate(GFR).We extracted data of patients who took statin for the first *** analyzed whether or not different statins affect the changes in GFR at 3 months after baseline and 4 years *** included 3678 patients and analyzed the changes in *** GFR decreased by 3.2%±0.4%on average 4 years after the first statin prescription,indicating statistically significant deterioration(from 83.5±0.4 mL/min/1.73 m2 to 79.9±0.4 mL/min/1.73 m2,P<0.001).When comparing the GFR among different statins,significant differences were observed between atorvastatin and fluvastatin(−5.3%±0.7%vs.1.2%±2.2%,P<0.05)and between atorvastatin and simvastatin(−5.3%±0.7%vs.−0.7%±0.8%,P<0.05).In pitavastatin(odds ratio[OR]=0.64,95%confidence interval[CI]=0.46-0.87,P<0.005)and simvastatin(OR=0.69,95%CI=0.53-0.91,P<0.008),the GFR rate that decreased by<60 mL/min/1.73 m2 was significantly lower than that of *** long-term statin intake,GFR changed with the type of *** work is the first in Korea to compare each statin in terms of changes in the GFR after the statin prescription.

Treatment and prognosis of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma based on SEER data analysis from 1973 to 2014

Background: Hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a rare tumor of vascular origin with an unknown etiology, a low incidence, and a variable natural course. We evaluated the management and prognosis of HEH from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and changes in treatment modalities of HEH over 30 years. Methods: From 1973 to 2014 in the SEER database, we selected patients diagnosed with HEH. We analyzed the clinical characteristics, patterns of management, and clinical outcomes of patients with HEH. Results: We identi ed 79 patients with HEH (median age: 54.0 years;male to female ratio: 1:2.6). The initial extent of disease was local in 22 (27.8%) patients, regional metastasis in 22 (27.8%), distant metas-tasis in 31 (39.2%) and unknown in 4 (5.1%). The median size of primary tumor was 3.85 cm (interquartile range, 2.50 7.93 cm). Among 74 patients with available management data, the most common manage-ment was no treatment (29/74, 39.2%), followed by chemotherapy only (22/74, 29.7%), liver resection-based (13/74, 17.6%), and transplantation-based therapy (6/74, 8.1%). The 5-year cancer-speci c survival rate was 57.8%. Patients who underwent surgical treatment had signi cantly higher survival than those who underwent non-surgical treatment (5-year survival;88% vs. 49%, P=0.019). Multivariate analysis revealed that surgical therapy was the only independent prognostic factor for survival (hazard ratio: 0.20, P=0.040). Conclusions: Resection or liver transplantation is worth considering for treatment of patients with HEH.

A comparative study on machine learning-based classification to find photothrombotic lesion in histological rabbit brain images

Recently,research has been conducted to assist in the processing and analysis of histopathological images using machine learning *** this study,we established machine learning-based algorithms to detect photothrombotic lesions in histological images of photothrombosis-induced rabbit *** machine learning-based algorithms for binary classification were applied,and the accu-racies were compared to classify normal tissues and photothrombotic *** lesion classification model consisting of a 3-layered neural network with a rectified linear unit(ReLU)activation function,Xavier initialization,and Adam optimization using datasets with a unit size of 128×128 pixels yielded the highest accuracy(0.975).In the validation using the tested histological images,it was confirmed that the model could identify regions where brain damage occurred due to photochemical ischemic *** the development of machine learning-based photothrombotic lesion classi-fication models and performance comparisons,we confirmed that machine learning algorithms have the potential to be utilized in histopathology and various medical diagnostic techniques.

Numerical simulation for dendrite growth in directional solidification using LBM-CA(cellular automata)coupled method

To predict the dendrite morphology and microstructure evolution in the solidification of molten metal,numerically,lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)-cellular automata(CA)model has been developed by integrating the LBM to solve the mass transport by diffusion and convection during solidification and the CA to determine the phase transformation with respect to the solid fraction based on the local equilibrium *** is successfully validated with analytic solutions such as Lipton-Glicksman-Kurz(LGK)model in static melt,and Oseen-Ivantsov solution under the fluid flow conditions in terms of tip radius and velocity of the dendrite *** proposed LBM-CA model does not only describe different types of dendrite formations with respect to various solidification conditions such as temperature gradient and growth rate,but also predict the primary dendrite arm spacing(PDAS)and the secondary dendrite arm spacing(SDAS),quantitatively,in directional solidification(DS)experiment with Ni-based superalloy.
