Ameliorating liver fibrosis in an animal model using the secretome released from miR-122-transfected adipose-derived stem cells

BACKGROUND Recently,the exclusive use of mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)-secreted molecules,called secretome,rather than cells,has been evaluated for overcoming the limitations of cell-based therapy,while maintaining its ***,the use of na?ve secretome may not fully satisfy the specificity of each ***,it appears to be more advantageous to use the functionally reinforced secretome through a series of processes involving physico-chemical adjustments or genetic manipulation rather than to the use na?ve *** To determine the therapeutic potential of the secretome released from miR-122-transfected adipose-derived stromal cells(ASCs).METHODS We collected secretory materials released from ASCs that had been transfected with antifibrotic miR-122(MCM)and compared their antifibrotic effects with those of the na?ve secretome(CM).MCM and CM were intravenously administered to the mouse model of thioacetamide-induced liver fibrosis,and their therapeutic potentials were *** MCM infusion provided higher therapeutic potential in terms of:(A)Reducing collagen content in the liver;(B)Inhibiting proinflammatory cytokines;and(C)Reducing abnormally elevated liver enzymes than the infusion of the na?ve *** proteomic analysis of MCM also indicated that the contents of antifibrotic proteins were significantly elevated compared to those in the na?ve *** We could,thus,conclude that the secretome released from miR-122-transfected ASCs has higher antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory properties than the na?ve *** miR-122 transfection into ASCs provides a specific way of potentiating the antifibrotic properties of ASC secretome,it could be considered as an enhanced method for reinforcing secretome effectiveness.

Ru/NimnB spherical cluster pillar for highly proficient green hydrogen electrocatalyst at high current density

Advanced OER/HER electrocatalytic alternatives are crucial for the wide adaptation of green hydrogen ***,Ru/NimnB spherical cluster pillar （SCP）,denoted as Ru/NimnB,is synthesized using a combination of electro-deposition and hydrothermal *** investigation of Ru doping in the NimnB matrix revealed significant improvements in electrocatalytic *** Ru/NimnB SCPs demonstrate superior OER/HER activity with low overpotentials of 150 and 103 mV at 50mA/cm2in 1 M KOH,making them highly competitive with state-of-the-art ***,the Ru/NimnB SCPs exhibit a low 2-E cell voltage of 2.80 V at ultra-high current density of 2,000 m A/cm2in 1 M KOH,outperforming the standard benchmark electrodes of RuO2||Pt/C,thereby positioning Ru/NimnB as one of the best bifunctional *** SCPs exhibit exceptional high-current characteristics,stability and corrosion resistance,as evidenced by continuous operation at 1,000 mA/cm2high-current density for over 150 h in 6 M KOH at elevated temperatures under harsh industrial *** a small amount of Ru incorporation significantly enhances the electrocatalytic performances of NimnB,attributed to increased active sites and improved intrinsic properties such as conductivity,adsorption/desorption capability and reaction ***,Ru/NimnB SCPs present a promising bi-functional electrode concept for efficient green H2production.

WRA-Net:Wide Receptive Field Attention Network for Motion Deblurring in Crop and Weed image

Automatically segmenting crops and weeds in the image input from cameras accurately is essential in various agricultural technology fields,such as herbicide spraying by farming robots based on crop and weed segmentation ***,crop and weed images taken with a camera have motion blur due to various causes(e.g.,vibration or shaking of a camera on farming robots,shaking of crops and weeds),which reduces the accuracy of crop and weed ***,robust crop and weed segmentation for motion-blurred images is ***,previous crop and weed segmentation studies were performed without considering motion-blurred *** solve this problem,this study proposed a new motion-blur image restoration method based on a wide receptive field attention network(WRA-Net),based on which we investigated improving crop and weed segmentation accuracy in motion-blurred ***-Net comprises a main block called a lite wide receptive field attention residual block,which comprises modified depthwise separable convolutional blocks,an attention gate,and a learnable skip *** conducted experiments using the proposed method with 3 open databases:BoniRob,crop/weed field image,and rice seedling and weed *** to the results,the crop and weed segmentation accuracy based on mean intersection over union was 0.7444,0.7741,and 0.7149,respectively,demonstrating that this method outperformed the state-of-the-art methods.

A comprehensive approach to a variability analysis between earthquake activity and hydro-environmental factors on the Korean Peninsula

Following the Pohang and Gyeongju earthquakes and their aftershocks,there is no longer any zone that is safe from earthquake-related disasters in the Korean *** order to monitor and predict earthquakes,correlation analysis of earthquakes and hydro-environmental factors are insufficient,and the development and application of hydro-environmental factor measurement equipment is still in the early *** study developes and verifies a more precise radon measurement *** specific earthquake cases(2019–2020)were selected,and the correlation of the analyses of the earthquakes and hydro-environmental factors(radon,electric conductivity(EC),water-level(WL),and water-temperature(WT))was conducted at the three specific groundwater ***,was confirmed that four factors are affected by earthquakes or seismic ***,the variability of the EC showed an identical tendency for a certain period before an earthquake occurred,and,in particular,the variability trends for radon,WL,and EC coincided at the time of the earthquake′s occurrence.

Advanced operation of heated fluidic resonators via mechanical and thermal loss reduction in vacuum

For simultaneous and quantitative thermophysical measurements of ultrasmall liquid volumes,we have recently developed and reported heated fluidic resonators(HFRs).In this paper,we improve the precision of HFRs in a vacuum by significantly reducing the thermal loss around the sensing element.A vacuum chamber with optical,electrical,and microfluidic access is custom-built to decrease the convection loss by two orders of magnitude under 10-4 mbar *** a result,the measurement sensitivities for thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity are increased by 4.1 and 1.6 times,*** differentiating between deionized water(H2O)and heavy water(D2O)with similar thermophysical properties and~10%different mass densities,the signal-to-noise ratio(property differences over standard error)for H2O and D2O is increased by 9 and 5 times for thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity,respectively.

Efficient multi-response adaptive sampling algorithm for construction of variable-fidelity aerodynamic tables

Adaptive sampling is an iterative process for the construction of a global approximation model. Most of engineering analysis tools computes multiple parameters in a single run. This research proposes a novel multi-response adaptive sampling algorithm for simultaneous construction of multiple surrogate models in a time-efficient and accurate manner. The new algorithm uses the Jackknife cross-validation variance and a minimum distance metric to construct a sampling criterion function. A weighted sum of the function is used to consider the characteristics of multiple surrogate models. The proposed algorithm demonstrates good performance on total 22 numerical problems in comparison with three existing adaptive sampling algorithms. The numerical problems include several two-dimensional and six-dimensional functions which are combined into singleresponse and multi-response systems. Application of the proposed algorithm for construction of aerodynamic tables for 2 D airfoil is demonstrated. Scaling-based variable-fidelity modeling is implemented to enhance the accuracy of surrogate modeling. The algorithm succeeds in constructing a system of three highly nonlinear aerodynamic response surfaces within a reasonable amount of time while preserving high accuracy of approximation.
