Purpose: The a.m of this study wa. to determine if hea.t ra.e va.ia.ility(HRV) during incrementa. test could be used to estima.e ventila.ory threshold(VT) in professiona. ba.ketba.l pla.ers, with sufficient precision to be used in their tra.ning. Furthermore, the second a.m wa. to a.a.yse the a.socia.ion between HRV a.d 3 methods of VT determina.ion by ga. ***: Twenty-four professiona. ba.ketba.l pla.ers(a.e: 23.4 ± 4.9 yea.s; height: 195.4 ± 9.8 cm; body ma.s: 92.2 ± 11.9 kg) performed a. incrementa. running test to exha.stion. First ventila.ory threshold(VT1) wa. determined by ventila.ory equiva.ent(VE) a.d HRV a.d second ventila.ory threshold(VT2) wa. determined by 3 methods of ga.es a.a.ysis(V-slope, VE a.d ga. excha.ge ra.io(R), a.d HRV). Pea.son's coefficient(r) wa. used to detect differences between da.a.a.d the strength of ea.h rela.ionship. The mea. of a.solute differences a.d Bla.d–a.tma. a.a.ysis were used to eva.ua.e whether there wa. ***: The results showed no significa.t differences in HR a.d oxygen consumption(VO2) a. VT1 between the 2 methods. Furthermore, no significa.t differences a.ong the methods of ga.es a.a.ysis a.d HRV were observed in speed, HR, a.d VO2 a. VT2. Moreover, VTs estima.ed using HRV a.d ga. methods were significa.tly correla.ed. Correla.ion in HR va.ues wa. higher between R a.d HRV(r = 0.96) a.d VE a.d HRV(r = 0.96) tha. V-slope a.d HRV(r = 0.90).Conclusion: These findings provide a.pra.tica., inexpensive a.proa.h for eva.ua.ing specific tra.ning loa.s when determining VT2 in ba.ketba.l pla.ers. Therefore, HRV is a. a.terna.ive method to determine VT2 without the a.plica.ion of expensive technology tha. limits its use to la.ora.ories.
