The genus Corydalis, with ca. 530 species, has long b.en considered taxonomically challenging b.cause of its great variab.lity. Previous molecular analyses,b.sed on a few molecular markers and incomplete taxonomic sampling, were clearly inadequate to delimit sections and sub.enera. We have performed phylogenetic analyses of Corydalis and related taxa,using 65 shared protein-coding plastid genes from313 accessions(including 280 samples of ca. 226species of Corydalis) and 152 universal low-copy nuclear genes from 296 accessions(including 271samples of Corydalis) covering all 42 previously recognized sections and five independent “series”.Phylogenetic trees were inferred using b.yesian Inference and Maximum Likelihood. Eight selected morphological characters were estimated using ancestral state reconstructions. Results include:(i) of the three sub.enera of Corydalis, two are fully supported b. b.th the plastid and nuclear data;the third,sub.. Cremnocapnos, is weakly supported b. plastid DNA only, whereas in the nuclear data the two included sections form successive outgroups to the rest of the genus;(ii) among all 42 sections and five“series”, 25 sections and one “series” are resolved as monophyletic in b.th data sets;(iii) the common ancestor of Corydalis is likely to b. a perennial plant with a taproot, yellow flowers with a short saccate spur, linear fruits with recurved fruiting pedicels, and seeds with elaiosomes;(iv) we provide a new classification of Corydalis with four sub.enera(of which sub.. b.papillatae is here newly describ.d), 39 sections, 16 of which are consistent with the previous classification, 16 sections have b.en recircumscrib.d, one section has b.en reinstated and six new sections are estab.ished. Characters associated with lifespan, underground structures, floral spur, fruit and elaiosomes are important for the recognition of sub.enera and sections. Analysis of Precipitation Trends and Prediction in Selected Cities in the Southeast Louisiana

The impacts of climate change are b.ing felt in Louisiana, in the form of changing weather patterns that have resulted in changes in floods, hurricanes, tornadoes frequencies of occurrence, and magnitudes, among others resulting in, flooding. The variab.lities in rainfall in a drainage b.sin affect water availab.lity and sustainab.lity. This study analyzed the precipitation data of Southeastern Louisiana, United States, for the period 1990 to 2020. Data used in the study was from, Donaldsonville, Galliano, Lafourche, Gonzales, Ascension, Morgan, New Orleans, Audub.n, Plaquemine, and Ponchatoula, Tangipahoa, weather stations. These stations were selected b.cause the differences b.tween each of their highest and lowest average annual rainfall data were greater than 20 inches. To investigate climate patterns and trends for the given weather stations in Southeastern Louisiana, precipitation data were analyzed on annual time scales using data collected from the World b.nk Group Climate Change Knowledge Portal for Development Practitioners and Policy Makers and the Applied Climate Information System (ACIS) of the National Weather Service Prediction Center. The data were further aggregated using annual average b.ocks of 4 years, and linear and polynomial regression was performed to estab.ish trends. The highest and lowest average annual rainfall data for Donaldsonville, Galliano, Lafourche, Gonzales, Ascension, Morgan, New Orleans, Audub.n, Plaquemine, and Ponchatoula, Tangipahoa, weather stations were, 75 and 48, 71 and 44, 73.5 and 52.7, 75 and 46.4, 72 and 41.3, 94 and 55.3, Ponchatoula, and 78.6 and 44, respectively. Plaquemine recorded the highest average annual average rainfall while New Orleans, Audub.n station recorded the lowest. Evolutionary convergence is one of the most striking examples of adaptation driven b. natural ***, genomic evidence for convergent adaptation to extreme environments remains ***, we assemb.ed reference genomes of two alpine plants, Saussurea ob.allata(Asteraceae)and Rheum alexandrae(Polygonaceae), with 37,938 and 61,463 annotated protein-coding genes. b. integrating an additional five alpine genomes,we elucidated genomic convergence underlying high-altitude adaptation in alpine plants. Our results detected convergent contractions of diseaseresistance genes in alpine genomes, which might b. an energy-saving strategy for surviving in hostile environments with only a few pathogens *** identified signatures of positive selection on a set of genes involved in reproduction and respiration(e.g., MMD1, Nb.1, and HPR), and revealed signatures of molecular convergence on genes involved in self-incompatib.lity, cell wall modification,DNA repair and stress resistance, which may underlie adaptation to extreme cold, high ultraviolet radiation and hypoxia environments. Incorporating transcriptomic data, we further demonstrated that genes associated with cuticular wax and flavonoid b.osynthetic pathways exhib.t higher expression levels in leafy b.acts, shedding light on the genetic mechanisms of the adaptive “greenhouse” morphology. Our integrative data provide novel insights into convergent evolution at a high-taxonomic level,aiding in a deep understanding of genetic adaptation to complex environments.

Physiological Responses of <i>Tamarix ramosissima</i>to Extreme NaCl Concentrations

Hydrologic alterations of river systems in western North America over the past century have increased soil salinity, contrib.ting to the estab.ishment and spread of an introduced halophytic species, Tamarix ramosissima (Ledeb.). The physiological responses of Tamarix ramosissima to salinity stress are incompletely known. To assess the salinity tolerance of this species, we measured several whole plant and leaf-level physiological responses of Tamarix ramosissima cuttings grown in a controlled environment over three NaCl concentrations (0, 15 and 40 g l-1). Tamarix ramosissima photosynthesis (A2000), stomatal conductance to water (gs), water potential (Ψw), and the maximum quantum yield of photosystem II (Fv/Fm) decreased at 15 and 40 g l-1 NaCl compared to control treatments. However, after approximately 35 days, Tamarix ramosissima had increased photosynthetic rates, maximum quantum yield of photosystem II, and stomatal conductance to water. These data suggests that physiological functioning of Tamarix ramosissima acclimated to extremely high NaCl concentrations over a relatively short period of time. Additionally, we present preliminary evidence that suggests proline synthesis may b. the mechanism b. which this species adjusts osmotically to increasing salinity.

Over the last two decades, Mozamb.que has experienced tremendous tropical cyclonic activities causing many flooding activities accompanied b. disastrous human casualties. Studies that integrate remote sensing, elevation data and coupled with demographic analysis in Mozamb.que are very limited. This study seeks to fill the void b. employing satellite data to map inundation caused b. Tropical Cyclones in Mozamb.que. In pursuit of this ob.ective, Sentinel-2 satellite data was ob.ained from the United States Geological Survey (USGS)’s Earth Explorer free Online Data Services imagery web.ite covering the months of March 20, 2019, March 25, 2019, and April 16, 2019 for two cities, Maputo and b.ira in Mozamb.que. The images were geometrically corrected to remove, haze, scan lines and speckles, and then referenced to Mozamb.que ground-b.sed Geographic: Lat/Lon coordinate system and WGS 84 Datum. Data from twelve spectral b.nds of Sentinel-2 satellite, covering the visib.e and near infrared sections of the electromagnetic spectrum, were further used in the analysis. In addition, Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) within the study area was computed using the green and near infrared b.nds to highlight water b.dies of Sentinel-2 detectors. To project and model the population of Mozamb.que and see the impact of cyclones on the country, demographic data covering 1980 to 2017 was ob.ained from the World b.nk web.ite. The Exponential Smoothing (ETS) method was adopted to forecast the population of Mozamb.que. Results from NDWI analysis showed that the NDWI is higher for flood areas and lower for non-flooded ones. The ETS algorithm results indicate that the population of Mozamb.que would nearly doub.e b. 2047. Human population along the coastal zone in the country is also on the rise exponentially. Effect of Galla chinensis on the In Vitro Remineralization of Advanced Enamel Lesions

Aim The effect of Galla chinensis on de-/re-mineralization of advanced enamel lesions was investigated b. using micro-CT in a prolonged in vitro experiment. Methodology b.seline mineral contents of sound enamels were first analyzed. Then lesions were produced in an acidic b.ffer solution （2.2 mmol.L-1 Ca（NO3）2, 2.2 mmol-L1 KH2PO4, and pH=4.5） for 21 days, with thrice daily three-minute treatments, divided into four groups： Group A, 4 000 ppm crude aqueous extract of Galla chinensis （GCE）; Group b. 4 000 ppm gallic acid; Group C, 1 000 ppm F aq. （as NaF, positive control）; Group D, deionized water （negative control）. Next, the b.ocks were immersed in a remineralization solution （1.5 *** CaC12, 0.9 mmol.L1 KH2PO4, 0.1 ppm F, and pH=7,0） for 200 days. Mineral loss （ML） in each region of interest （ROI） and integrated mineral loss （IML） of the lesions were calculated （comparing with b.seline mineral content of sound enamel） at different time points. Results After 21 days demineralization, fluoride treatment showed a statistically significant demineralization-inhib.ting effect among the four groups, and after 200 days of remineralization, mineral content recovery was ordered （lowest to highest） as A=C〈b.D. Conclusion GCE could slow down the remineralization of enamel in the surface layer and thereb. facilitate ion transport into the lesion b.dy. The mechanism of Galla chinensis in enhancing the remineralization of dental caries is different from fluoride.

Effects of irrigation and weed-control methods on growth of weed and rice
