Photoexcitation dynamics in solution-processed formamidinium lead iodide perovskite thin films for solar cell applications

Formamidinium lead iodide(FAPbI3)is a newly developed hybrid perovskite that potentially can be used in high-efficiency solution-processed solar ***,the temperature-dependent dynamic optical properties of three types of FAPbI3 perovskite films(fabricated using three different precursor systems)are comparatively *** time-resolved photoluminescence(PL)spectra reveal that FAPbI3 films made from the new precursor(a mixture of formamidinium iodide and hydrogen lead triiodide)exhibit the longest lifetime of 439 ns at room temperature,suggesting a lower number of defects and lower non-radiative recombination losses compared with FAPbI3 obtained from the other two *** the temperature-dependent PL spectra,a phase transition in the films is clearly ***,exciton-binding energies of 8.1 and 18 meV for the high-and lowtemperature phases are extracted,***,the PL spectra for all of the samples show a single peak at room temperature,whereas at liquid-helium temperature the emission features two peaks:one in higher energy displaying a fast decay(0.5 ns)and a second red-shifted peak with a decay of up to several *** two emissions,separated by~18 meV,are attributed to free excitons and bound excitons with singlet and triplet characters,respectively.

Lead halide perovskites have some unique properties which are very promising for optoelectronic applications such as solar cells. LEDs and lasers. One important and expected application of perovskite halide semiconductors is solar cell operation including hot carriers. This advanced solar cell concept allows overcoming the Shockley-Queisser efficiency limit, thereby achieving energy conversion efficiency as high as 66% by extracting hot carriers. Understanding ultrafast photoexcited carrier dynamics and extraction in lead halide perovskites is crucial for these applications. Here, we clarify the hot carrier cooling and transfer dynamics in all-inorganic cesium lead iodide （CsPbI3） perovskite using transient absorption spectroscopy and Al2O3, poly（3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl）（P3HT） and TiO2 as selective contacts. We find that slow hot carrier cooling occurs on a timescale longer than 10 ps in the cases of CsPbI3/AI203 and CsPbI3/TiO2, which is attributed to hot phonon bottleneck for the high photoexcited carrier density. An efficient ultrafast hole transfer from CsPbI3 to the P3HT hole extracting layer is observed. These results suggest that hot holes can be extracted by appropriate selective contacts before energy dissipation into the halide perovskite lattice and that CsPbl3 has a potential for hot carrier solar cell applications.

The theoretical calculation of the charge mobility of 2,5-bis(trialkylsilylethynyl)-1,1,3,4-tetraphenylsiloles is presented.B3LYP/6-31* calculations demonstrated that these silole molecules possessed large coupling matrix elements and reorganization energies for electron and hole transfers and high electron *** bulkiness of the trialkyl substituents influenced the charge mobility of the silole molecules,with the smaller trimethyl group imparting higher charge mobility than triethyl and triisopropyl substituents.

The Marplex Convention was established to prevent the manufacture of unmarked plastic explosives and stipulates that a volatile detection agent must be added at the time of ***,to-date,laboratory testing remains the internationally accepted practice for identifying and quantifying the taggants stipulated in the *** this project,portable FTIR and Raman instruments were tested for their ability to detect 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-dinitrobutane(DMDNB),the chemical marker incorporated in plastic explosives that are manufactured within *** both FTIR and Raman instruments detected solid DMDNB(98%purity),field analysis of plastic explosives at an Australian Defence establishment showed that both FTIR and Raman spectra were matched the relevant explosive(RDX or PETN),rather than the DMDNB *** all three plastic explosives tested,the concentration of DMDNB was measured by SPME-GC-MS to be between 1.8 and 2%,greater than the minimum 1%concentration stipulated by the Marplex *** testing with a plastic explosive analogue confirmed that the minor absorption peaks that would characterize low concentrations of DMDNB were masked by absorption bands from other compounds within the ***,while both FTIR and Raman spectroscopy are suitable for detection of plastic explosives,neither rely on the presence of DMDNB for *** is likely that similar results would be found for other taggants stipulated by the Marplex Convention,given they are also present in concentrations less than 1%.

The demand for highly efficient solid-state luminophores is continuously growing due to their potential applications in optoelectrical devices, chemosensors, and biological applications. The discovery of luminogens with aggregation-induced emission(AIE)by Tang et al. in 2001 provides a good reponse to this demand. Among the exploited AIE luminogens, AIE-active polymers possess many advantages such as simple synthesis, convenient structrue modifications, and good processability, which offer an extensive platform for scientists and engineers. Herein, the design principles and latest synthetic advancement of AIE-active polymers are summarized, including click polymerization and multicomponent polymerization. Non-conjugated heteroatom-rich polymers were in situ generated and demonstated non-conventional clusteroluminoscence. Advanced applications including fluorescent sensors, stimuli-responsive materials,biological applications, circularly polarized luminescence, and electroluminescence are then introduced in detail. AIE-active polymers display the signal-amplification effect for sensitive and selective response to chemo/bioanalytes or stimuli and enhanced photosensitization effect for cancer theranostics. Retrospecting the expansion of this field can further strengthen our belief that AIE-active polymers are promising for conceptual innovation and technological breakthroughs in the near future.

Molecules are all in constant motions,which influence their properties. For example, in photophysics, the light emission behavior of a luminogen is determined by its electronic and nuclear motions in the excited state. Flexible molecular motions usually favor nonradiative decay along with the transformation of excited-state energy to other forms such as thermal energy. Therefore,the restriction of intramolecular motions(RIM) is commonly adopted to achieve luminescent materials with high emission brightness.

The numerous merits of conjugated polymers(CPs) have encouraged scientists to develop a variety of synthetic routes to CPs with diverse structures and functionalities. Among the large scope of substrates,alkyne plays an important role in constructing polymers with conjugated backbones. In addition to some well-developed reactions including Glaser–Hay and Sonogashira coupling, azide/thiol-yne click reaction and cyclotrimerization, some novel alkyne-based reactions have also been explored such as oxidative polycoupling, decarbonylative polycoupling and multicomponent tandem polymerizations. his review focuses on the recent progress on the synthetic methodology of CPs in the last ive years using monomers with two or more triple bonds and some of their high-technological applications. Selected examples of materials properties of these CPs are given in this review, such as luorescence response to chemical or physical stimuli, magnetism, white light emission, cell imaging and bioprobing. Finally, a short perspective is raised in regard to the outlook of the preparation methodologies, functionalities as well as potential applications of CPs in the future.
