Assessment of portable FTIR and Raman spectroscopy for the detection of 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-dinitrobutane(DMDNB)in plastic explosives

The Marplex Convention was established to prevent the manufacture of unmarked plastic explosives and stipulates that a volatile detection agent must be added at the time of ***,to-date,laboratory testing remains the internationally accepted practice for identifying and quantifying the taggants stipulated in the *** this project,portable FTIR and Raman instruments were tested for their ability to detect 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-dinitrobutane(DMDNB),the chemical marker incorporated in plastic explosives that are manufactured within *** both FTIR and Raman instruments detected solid DMDNB(98%purity),field analysis of plastic explosives at an Australian Defence establishment showed that both FTIR and Raman spectra were matched the relevant explosive(RDX or PETN),rather than the DMDNB *** all three plastic explosives tested,the concentration of DMDNB was measured by SPME-GC-MS to be between 1.8 and 2%,greater than the minimum 1%concentration stipulated by the Marplex *** testing with a plastic explosive analogue confirmed that the minor absorption peaks that would characterize low concentrations of DMDNB were masked by absorption bands from other compounds within the ***,while both FTIR and Raman spectroscopy are suitable for detection of plastic explosives,neither rely on the presence of DMDNB for *** is likely that similar results would be found for other taggants stipulated by the Marplex Convention,given they are also present in concentrations less than 1%.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top lethal infectious diseases worldwide. In recent years, interferon-γ (INF-γ) release assays (IGRAs) have been established as routine tests for diagnosing TB infection. However, produced INF-γ assessment cannot permit to distinguish active ATB from latent TB infection (LTBI), especially in TB epidemic areas. In addition to IFN-γ, interleukin-2 (IL-2), secreted by activated T cells, is involved in immune response against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This could be involved in the follow up of treatment response. The aim of our study was to determine IFN-γ and IL2 cytokines profiles of patients under antituberculosis treatment. Materials and Methods: A six months’ cross-sectional study was conducted at the Jamot Hospital of Yaoundé, from May to August 2021. Sociodemographic and clinical data as well as 5 mL of blood were collected from each participant. INF-γ and IL-2 were determined using indirect Enzyme linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay (ELISA) according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and spectrum exam in combination with radiography and GeneXpert were used as standard. P-values Results: The results showed that men were more infected 14/61 (31.8%) with a high presence in active and resistant TB groups. The mean age was 41.3 ± 13.1 years with a 95% CI = [38.2 - 44.7], the age group with the highest infection rate was ranged between 31 and 40 years. The IL-2 and INF-γ means were respectively 327.6 ± 160.6 pg/mL and 26.6 ± 13.0 pg/mL in ATB patients, 251.1 ± 30.9 pg/mL and 21.4 ± 9.2 pg/mL in patients with resistant tuberculosis, while it was 149.3 ± 93.3 pg/mL and 17.9 ± 9.4 pg/mL in cured patients, 15.1 ± 8.4 pg/mL and 5.3 ± 2.6 pg/mL in participants presumed healthy (p γ and IL-2rates were observed between the different groups. Conclusion: Monitoring the serum levels of INF-γ and IL-2 would be useful for the follow-up of anti-tuberculosis patients, particularly in the both cytokines association case.

The development of a facile and efficient polymerization to prepare cyclopentadiene-containing polymers is of vital importance and highly desired. In this work, a metal-free multicomponent polymerization of activated diyne, electrophilic styrene and isocyanide for the preparation of highly substituted poly(cyclopentadiene) was established. Soluble and thermally stable polymers with high molecular weights are obtained in high yields under mild conditions. By introducing the tetraphenylethene or triphenylamine moiety into polymer backbones, the resultant polymers show unique aggregation-induced emission(AIE)characteristics. Interestingly, AIE polymers can also be generated in situ from non-AIE monomers. Moreover, the prepared polymers can generate photopatterns to function as photoresists and can also serve as visualizing agents to selectively stain the lipid droplets in live cells. This efficient polymerization will open up enormous opportunities for preparing functional cyclopentadiene-containing polymers applicable in diverse areas.

Ferroptosis is a form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-dependent accumulation of lipid peroxidation and lethal reactive oxygen species(ROS).To date,misregulated ferroptosis has been implicated in several types of cancers,and ferroptosis inducers can be used to promote ferroptosis in tumor cells and play an anti-tumor ***,the specificity and efficacy of ferroptosis inducers remain ***,a new mitochondria-targeted photosensitizer(PS)with aggregation-induced emission(AIE)characteristic named TCSVP was designed,which efficiently generates ROS in mitochondria after light *** administration significantly sensitizes tumor cells to ferroptosis inducer(RSL3)-mediated cell death by specifically and light-dependently triggering a moderate ROS generation in vitro and in ***,the expression levels of ferroptosis related proteins Acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4(FACL4/ACSL4)and cyclooxygenase-2(COX2)were increased in TCSVP/RSL3-treated cells after light exposure,coupled with decreased Glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)activity and excessive malondialdehyde(MDA)*** study declared that light-induced moderate ROS generation within mitochondria in cancer cells by AIE-PS can be used to enhance the specificity and efficacy of ferroptosis inducers,bringing a new synergistic strategy for tumor intervention.

Anharmonicity and local disorder(polymorphism)are ubiquitous in perovskite physics,inducing various phenomena observed in scattering and spectroscopy *** of these phenomena still lack interpretation from first principles since,hitherto,no approach is available to account for anharmonicity and disorder in electron–phonon ***,relying on the special displacement method,we develop a unified treatment of both and demonstrate that electron–phonon coupling is strongly influenced when we employ polymorphous perovskite *** uncover that polymorphism in halide perovskites leads to vibrational dynamics far from the ideal noninteracting phonon picture and drives the gradual change in their band gap around phase transition *** also clarify that combined band gap corrections arising from disorder,spin-orbit coupling,exchange–correlation functionals of high accuracy,and electron–phonon coupling are all *** findings agree with experiments,suggesting that polymorphism is the key to address pending questions on perovskites’technological applications.

The development of new polymerization routes to afford N-heterocyclic polymers is of vital importance and highly desired for various practical applications. Herein, a facile and efficient polyannulation reaction of dual-activated alkyne and pyridines was developed to construct novel N-heterocyclic poly(quinolizine)s. This polymerization can proceed smoothly under catalystfree conditions with 100% atom utilization to furnish poly(quinolizine)s with high molecular weights(up to 34,100) and welldefined structures in acceptable yields. The resulting polymers show good solubility, high thermal stability and strong red emission. Moreover, the prepared poly(quinolizine)s exhibit low cytotoxicity and can selectively label lysosomes in live *** the remarkable advantages of readily available raw materials, mild polymerization conditions, atom economy, and excellent product performance, this new and efficient polymerization tool will open up enormous opportunities for preparing functional N-heterocyclic polymers.
