Polarization-encoded neural networks with simplified grating patch

Optical neural networks (ONNs) offer a promising solution for high-performance, energy-efficient artificial intelligence hardware by leveraging the parallelism and speed of light. However, the large-scale implementation of ONNs remains challenging due to the bulky footprint and complex control of optical synapses. In this work, we propose and simulate a plasmonic polarized synaptic architecture that overcomes the diffraction limit and enables ultra-compact ONNs. By tuning the polarization state of incident light, the optical transmittance through each plasmonic unit can be dynamically adjusted to represent a synaptic weight. Our plasmonic structures, with features as small as 40 nm, operate well below this limit in the visible spectrum (400–750 nm). Compared with diffraction and interference-based circuit designs, our proposed method achieves a substantial reduction in synaptic density by factors of 150000-fold and 1500-fold, respectively. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrate a proof-of-concept plasmonic ONN applied to the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research—10classes (CIFAR-10) dataset using a Visual Geometry Group network with 16 layers (VGG16) model. After training for 80epochs, the network achieves an accuracy of 93%. the polarization-tunable plasmonics paves the way towards scalable ONNs for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators and smart sensors.

Sequence-activated chemiluminescence(CL) technique offers a unique approach to detecting specific biomolecules or cellular events with high sensitivity and spatial resolution. the fundamental principle behind sequence-activated CL probes involves tailoring highly-controllable CL signals in response to specific sequences or events of interest, thus enabling high-contrast signals under complex physiological conditions. this sequential activation could be triggered by enzymes, reactive oxygen species(ROS), biothiols or changes in the microenvironment. these unique sequence-activated CL probes bestow several advantages, including minimal background, deep-tissue penetration, and the ability of non-invasive or minimally invasive detection. the sequence-activated CL techniques represent a significant advancement in molecular imaging and diagnostics. In this mini-review, we focus on the latest developments in sequential CL probes, addressing the technical challenges and discussing the future trajectory by harnessing CL signaling and molecular recognition.

Interfacial Zn2+-solvation regulator towards reversible and stable Zn anode

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） are fundamentally challenged by the instability of the electrode/electrolyte interface,predominantly due to irreversible zinc （Zn） deposition and hydrogen ***,the intricate mechanisms behind the electrochemical discrepancies induced by interfacial Zn2+-solvation and deposition behavior demand comprehensive *** molecules endowed with special functional groups （such as hydroxyl,carboxyl,etc.） have the potential to significantly optimize the solvation structure of Zn2+and regulate the interfacial electric double layer （EDL）.By increasing nucleation overpotential and decreasing interfacial free energy,these functional groups facilitate a lower critical nucleation radius,thereby forming an asymptotic nucleation model to promote uniform Zn ***,this study presents a pioneering approach by introducing trace amounts of n-butanol as solvation regulators to engineer the homogenized Zn （H-Zn） anode with a uniform and dense *** interfacial reaction and structure evolution are explored by in/ex-situ experimental techniques,indicating that the H-Zn anode exhibits dendrite-free growth,no by-products,and weak hydrogen evolution,in sharp contrast to the bare ***,the H-Zn anode achieves a remarkable Zn utilization rate of approximately 20% and simultaneously sustains a prolonged cycle life exceeding 500 ***,the H-Zn//NH4V4O10（NVO） full battery showcases exceptional cycle stability,retaining 95.04%capacity retention after 400 cycles at a large current density of 5 A *** study enlightens solvation-regulated additives to develop Zn anode with superior utilization efficiency and extended operational lifespan.

Plasmonic tandem heterojunctions enable high-efficiency charge transfer for broad spectrum photocatalytic hydrogen production

Rational engineering of semiconductor photocatalysts for efficient hydrogen production is of great significance but still challenging,primarily due to the limitations in charge transfer ***,a fascinating plasmonic tandem heterojunction with the hc-CdS/Mo2C@C heterostructure is aimfully prepared for effectively promoting the charge separation kinetics of the CdS photocatalyst via the synergistic strategy of phase junction,Schottky junction,and photothermal *** difference in atomic configuration between cubic-CdS （c-CdS） and hexagonal-CdS （h-CdS） leads to effective charge separation through a typical Ⅱ charge transfer mechanism,and plasmonic Schottky junction further extracts the electrons in the hc-CdS phase junction to realize gradient charge ***,the photothermal effect of Mo2C@C helps to expand the light absorption,accelerate charge transfer kinetics,and reduce the hydrogen evolution energy *** carbon layer provides a fast channel for charge transfer and protects the photocatalyst from *** a result,the optimized hc-CMC photocatalyst exhibits a significantly high photocatalytic H2production activity of 28.63 mmol/g/h and apparent quantum efficiency of 61.8%,surpassing most of the reported *** study provides a feasible strategy to enhance the charge transfer kinetics and photocatalytic activity of CdS by constructing plasmonic tandem heterogeneous junctions.

Effect of surface layer softening from previous electrochemical corrosion on electrochemical cold drawing of Q235 steel bar

Deciphering the role of ultra-low-loaded rhodium in NiFe-MIL-53 for superior oxygen evolution reaction

Designing highly active and stable electrocatalysts of oxygen evolution reaction （OER） is one of the crucial *** this study,a novel OER electrocatalyst,NiFe-MIL-53 modified with ultra-low rhodium（Rh@NiFe-MIL-53）,is successfully prepared via the hydrothermal ***-situ Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy reveal that the doped Rh accelerates the phase transformation of NiFe-MIL-53 and the in-situ formed Rh@NiFeOOH is the actual active *** importantly,the enhanced reversibility of electrochemical reconstruction between NiFeOOH and NiFe（OH）2after doping Rh is beneficial for improving the electrochemical stability of the catalyst.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectra show the strong electronic interaction between single-atom Rh and Ni/Fe in Rh@***,theoretical calculations confirm that the integration of single-atom Rh into the NiFeOOH successfully reduces the band gap,regulates the d-band center （εd）,accelerates the charge transfer,and optimizes the adsorption behavior of oxygen-containing intermediates,thereby lowering the energy barrier of rate-determining ***,the optimized Rh@NiFe-MIL-53 exhibits excellent OER activity （240 mV） with a small tafel slope of 48.2 mV dec-1and long-term durability (over1270 h at 10 m A cm-2and 110 h at 200 mA cm-2).this work presents a new perspective on designing highly efficient OER electrocatalysts.

Modifying metabolic and immune hallmarks of cancer by a copper complex

Metabolic adaptation of cancer cells is a key tactic for maintaining their tumorigenicity and viability in the tumor immune microenvironment （tIME）.Concurrent modulation on the metabolic pathway and immune system could change the living condition of cancer cells and potentiate the efficacy of anticancer drugs.A copper complex （DDCu） was designed to influence the energy metabolism of cancer cells and reshape the *** restrained the production and transportation of lactate by inhibiting the expression of lactate dehydrogenase and monocarboxylate transporter 4,thereby altering the metabolic pathway of cancer cells and improving the acidic tumor ***,DDCu was reduced to Cu+by cellular glutathione to react with lipoylated proteins of the tricarboxylic acid cycle and destabilize the Fe–S cluster proteins,leading to the aggregation of dihydrolipoamide S-acetyltransferase and cuproptosis in cancer ***,DDCu promoted the polarization of macrophages from the M2 to M1 phenotype,activated CD4+and CD8+t cells,and reversed the *** a result,DDCu inhibited the tumor growth through a synergy between metabolic regulation and immunomodulation.

Dietary carbohydrate intake and risk of type 2 diabetes:a 16-year prospective cohort study

Despite considerable research underscoring the importance of carbohydrate intake in relation to the risk of type 2 diabetes(t2D), a comprehensive assessment of this relationship is currently lacking. We aimed to examine the associations of various types and food sources of dietary carbohydrate intake with the risk of t2D, to evaluate potential effect modification by other factors, including genetic susceptibility,and to explore the potential mediators for such associations. the present study included 161,872 participants of the UK Biobank who were free of prevalent cancer, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, and had at least one validated 24-h dietary recall assessment. Multivariableadjusted age-stratified Cox proportional hazard regression models were applied to estimate hazard ratios(HRs) and 95% confidence intervals(CI) for the associations of various types and food sources of dietary carbohydrate intake with risk of t2D. During a median follow-up of13.6 years, 4,176 incident cases of t2D were identified. In the multivariable-adjusted models, a greater intake of fiber, carbohydrates from whole grains, and carbohydrates from non-starchy vegetables was significantly associated with a lower risk of t2D(highest vs. lowest quantile, HR [95% CI]=0.70 [0.62–0.79], 0.74 [0.67–0.82], and 0.83 [0.75–0.92], respectively, all P for trend trast, a higher intake of starch and carbohydrate from starchy vegetables was associated with an increased risk of t2D(highest vs. lowest quantile, HR [95%CI]=1.31 [1.16–1.48] and 1.19 [1.09–1.31], respectively, both P for trend tarchy vegetables with an equal amount of whole grains or non-starchy vegetables was associated with 4% to 10% lower risk of t2D(all P values the observed associations were generally similar across population subgroups, including individuals with different genetic susceptibility to t2D. 旅游地魅力是近些年被提出和关注的新话题,目前考察旅游地魅力如何影响旅游者忠诚的研究尚少。本研究基于理智人模型、心理连续体模型和期望不一致理论,以享乐幸福感、实现幸福感、地方依赖、地方认同为中介和旅游体验质量为调节,探讨旅游地魅力对旅游者忠诚影响的中介路径和边界条件。通过对旅游者问卷调查获得的444份有效问卷进行实证分析,结果显示:旅游地魅力对旅游者忠诚没有显著直接影响,享乐幸福感、地方依赖、地方认同在二者间起完全中介作用;旅游地魅力能提升享乐幸福感和实现幸福感,享乐幸福感会提升旅游者忠诚度,但实现幸福感不会提升旅游者忠诚度;旅游地魅力能增强地方依赖和地方认同,地方依赖和地方认同又能增强旅游者忠诚;旅游体验质量在旅游地魅力与实现幸福感、地方依赖、地方认同的作用关系中起正向调节作用。
