Degradation and resynthesis of c.l.rophyll during increased oxidative stress and prolonged darkness differ between annual and perennial flax(linum l.)

Among plants,there is considerable variation in lifespan:annuals live less than one year,whereas perennials live for several years,with the longest-living perennial having survived 43,600 *** proposed by the Disposable Soma Theory,this lifespan variation among plants likely reflects differential investment of limited energy and nutrient resources,with perennials investing more energy and nutrients into biomolec.l.r maintenance compared to annuals in order to ensure persistence over multiple *** differential investment may be partic.l.rly important during periods of exogenous stress,which are known to acc.l.rate biomolec.l.r *** present study evaluated this hypothesis using annual and perennial flax(linum l.)subjected to two exogenous stressors—increased oxidative stress(i.e.,foliar H2O2spraying)and complete prolonged *** c.l.rophyll has been shown to exhibit degradation in response to changes in environmental conditions,we utilized changes in c.l.rophyll levels during and after periods of exogenous stress to evaluate our *** predicted that i)perennials would exhibit a slower rate of c.l.rophyll degradation during exposure to exogenous stressors compared to annuals,and ii)perennials would exhibit a faster rate of c.l.rophyll resynthesis following such exposure compared to *** levels before,during,and after exposure to both exogenous stressors were measured in two separate trails,once using image c.l.ur analysis and once using *** c.l.rophyll degradation rates in response to oxidative stress did not differ between annuals and perennials,contrary to our predictions,c.l.rophyll resynthesis rates following such exposure were significantly higher in perennials,as *** plants were subjected to complete prolonged darkness,c.l.rophyll degradation rates were significantly lower in perennials than annuals,as predicted;however,when plants were subsequently reintroduced to natural photoperiod,ch

We,for the first time,report the nanoscopic imaging study of anomalous infrared(IR)phonon enhancement of bilayer graphene,originated from the charge imbalance between the top and bottom layers,resulting in the enhancement of E1u mode of bilayer graphene near 0.2 *** modified the multifrequency atomic force microscope platform to combine photo-induced force microscope with electrostatic/Kelvin probe force microscope constituting a novel hybrid nanosc.l. optic.l.electric.l.force imaging *** enables to observe a correlation between the IR response,doping level,and topographic information of the graphene *** the nanosc.l. spectroscopic image measurements,we demonstrate that the charge imbalance at the graphene interface can be controlled by chemic.l.doping effect via Redox mechanism)and mechanic.l.triboelectric effect by the doped cantilever)***,we can also diagnosis the subsurface cracks on the stacked few-layer graphene at nanosc.l.,by monitoring the strain-induced IR phonon *** approach provides new insights into the development of graphene-based electronic and photonic devices and their potential applications.

Glucose is known to be a weak inhibitor of glycogen phosphorylase(GP) and helps to control blood glucose levels by binding to phosphorylase at the catalytic site,resulting in a conformational change which stabilises the inactive T state of the enzyme,and promotes glycogen *** has therefore been suggested that inhibition of GP by glucose-analogues may help shift the balance,between glycogen synthesis and glycogen degradation,in favour of glycogen synthesis in both the muscle and *** exploiting the knowledge of the crystal structures of T state rabbit muscle GP and the glucose-enzyme complex it is hoped to design an inhibitor that will be more effective than glucose.

By the end of sixties, several satellites were launched to observe the earth; among them the landsat missions have been important to study natural resources, especially in agric.l.ure. currently, landsat 7, with some problems, and landsat 5 are useful to evaluate crop development. A project c.l.ed "Participatory multi-level EO-assisted tools for Irrigation water management and Agric.l.ural Decision-Support" (PlEIADeS) was financed by the European commission. This project considers eleven countries and 23 research institutions, Mexico being one of the selected countries. landsat images are a basic tool of this project. Some of the results obtained in this study are presented in this article. By using vegetation indices obtained by the combinations of reflectances in different bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, it has been possible to estimate the behavior of several biophysic.l.parameters of crops which are used to evaluate plant development, water stress, spatial soil variation, and the effect of plagues and crop diseases. To fac.l.tate this process, a visor was developed, named SPIDER (System of Participatory Information Decision support and Expert knowledge for River basin management) whose use in this work is explained.

Objective: To inform clinicians about a reproductive risk associated with spontaneous premature ovarian failure and the fragile X mental retardation 1 gene (FMR1). Design: case report. Setting: National Institutes of Health clinic.l.center. Patient(s): A 35-year-old woman with confirmed spontaneous premature ovarian failure. Intervention(s): FMR1 genetic testing. Main Outcome Measure(s): Number of cGG trinucleotide repeats in the 5′untranslated region of FMR1. Result(s): Despite having ovarian failure the woman subsequently conceived and delivered a son with fragile X syndrome (>200 cGG repeats). She was then found to carry an FMR1 premutation (85 cGG repeats). conclusion(s): This is a real-life manifestation of a theoretic.l.risk; a woman conceived subsequent to the diagnosis of spontaneous premature ovarian failure and has a child who manifests mental retardation due to fragile X syndrome. Women with spontaneous premature ovarian failure are at increased risk of having an FMR1 premutation and should be informed of the availability of fragile X testing. Should an FMR1 premutation be uncovered, this will allow patients to make informed reproductive decisions and help clinicians to properly diagnose family members who may have menstrual irregularity, developmental delay, or neurologic symptoms.
