Different La2O3 contents（0, 1, 2, 3, and 5 wt%） were used to prepared La2O3-ZrO2 mixed oxides calcined at 600 ℃ by the sol-gel method. The catalytic activity was measured as biodiesel production from canola oil through a transesterification reaction. The characterization results indicate that the La2O3 monolayer formation and extent of basicity of m-ZrO2 have a large influence on biodiesel production.Greater biodiesel conversion（56% at 4 h） was obtained with the 3% La2O3-ZrO2 catalyst in the presence of basic sites and the formation of a monolayer of La2O3. The decrease in the catalytic activity for 5% La2O3-ZrO2 resulted from the loss of active sites on the catalyst because of agglomeration, which was suggested by XPS and the isoelectric point. The kinetic data fit to a pseudo-first order constant, and the largest kinetic constant corresponds to 3% La2O3-ZrO2, currently the largest heterogeneous non-alkaline metal catalyst reported for a transesterification reaction.

Background:Postural control has been associated with the functional impairment in persons with multiple sclerosis(pwMS).However,there is a need for reliable methods to assess postural control in early stages of the disease,when subtle changes can be difficult to detect.The aims of this study were to assess the absolute and relative reliability of a standing and a sitting posturographic protocol in minimally(Expanded Disability Status Scale≤2)and moderately(2.5≤Expanded Disability Status Scale≤4)impaired pwMS,and to analyze relationships among postural control and functional mobility and gait performance.Methods:To assess postural control in an upright stance,14 minimally and 16 moderately impaired pwMS performed six 70 s trials in tandem stance,3 with their weaker leg behind(TSWL)and 3 with their stronger leg behind(TSSL).Additionally,participants completed five 70 s trials using an unstable sitting protocol(US)to assess trunk stability.The mean radial errors of TSWL,TSSL,and US trials were calculated as postural control indexes.Furthermore,participants performed the Timed Up and Go test(TUG)and the Timed 25-foot Walk test(T25FW)to measure their functional mobility and gait speed,respectively.Reliability was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC3,1)and the standard error of measurement(SEM).Analyses of variances were carried out to assess between-group differences.Hedges’g index(dg)was used to estimate the effect size of differences.Pearson correlation analyses(r)were performed to examine the relationships among the postural control and the functional tests.Results:Posturographic tests showed a high reliability in both minimally(0.87≤ICC≤0.92;9.32%≤SEM≤11.76%)and moderately(0.80≤ICC≤0.92;10.33%≤SEM≤15.33%)impaired pwMS.Similarly,T25FW and TUG displayed a high consistency in minimally(0.89≤ICC≤0.94;3.43%≤SEM≤5.17%)and moderately(0.85≤ICC≤0.93;5.57%≤SEM≤6.56%)impaired individuals.Minimally impaired pwMS showed a better performance on the TUG,T25FW,and TSWL than moderately impaired individuals(p

Purpose:The aim of this paper was to examine the distribution of macular,retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness and optic disc parameters of myopic and hyperopic eyes in comparison withemmetropic control eyes and to investigate their variation according to axial length(AL)andspherical equivalent(SE)in healthy children.Methods:This study included 293 pairs of eyes of 293children(145 boys and 148 girks),ranging in age from 6 to 17 years,Subjects were dividedaccording to SE in control(emmetropia,99 children),myopia(100 children)and hyperopia(94children)groups and according to axial AL in 68 short(25.00 mm,36).Macular parameters,RNFL thickness and opticdisc morphology were assessed by the Cirrus^(TM) HD-OCT.AL was measured using the IOL-Mastersystem.Littmann's formula was used for calculating the corrected AL-related ocular magnification.Results Mean age(±SD)was 10.84±3.05 years;mean(±SD)SE was+0.14±0.51 D(range from8.75 to+8.25 D)and mean AL(±SD)was 23.12±1.49.Average RNFL thickness,averagemacular thickness and macular volume decreased as AL and myopia increased.No correlationsbetween AL/SE and optic disc parameters were found after correcting for magnification effect.Conclusions:AL and refractive error affect measurements of macular and RNFL thickness inhealthy children.To make a correct interpretation of ocT measurements,ocular magnificationeffect should be taken into account by clinicians or OCT manufacturers.

It has recently been demonstrated experimentally that a turbulent plasma created by the collision of two inhomogeneous,asymmetric,weakly magnetized,laser-produced plasma jets can generate strong stochastic magnetic fields via the small-scale turbulent dynamo mechanism,provided the magnetic Reynolds number of the plasma is sufficiently large.In this paper,we compare such a plasma with one arising from two pre-magnetized plasma jets whose creation is identical save for the addition of a strong external magnetic field imposed by a pulsed magnetic field generator.We investigate the differences between the two turbulent systems using a Thomson-scattering diagnostic,x-ray selfemission imaging,and proton radiography.The Thomson-scattering spectra and x-ray images suggest that the external magnetic field has a limited effect on the plasma dynamics in the experiment.Although the external magnetic field induces collimation of the flows in the colliding plasma jets and although the initial strengths of the magnetic fields arising from the interaction between the colliding jets are significantly larger as a result of the external field,the energies and morphologies of the stochastic magnetic fields post-amplification are indistinguishable.We conclude that,for turbulent laser-plasmas with supercritical magnetic Reynolds numbers,the dynamo-amplified magnetic fields are determined by the turbulent dynamics rather than the seed fields or modest changes in the initial flow dynamics of the plasma,a finding consistent with theoretical expectations and simulations of turbulent dynamos.

"H_(2)-free" HDO is a revolutionary route to circumvent the limitations of H_(2)-fed HDO reactors for biomass upgrading.This work demonstrates the viability of this economically appealing route when an adequate catalyst is implemented.Herein,we have developed a new family of Pt catalysts supported on N-doped activated carbons for the H_(2)-free HDO process of guaiacol.Several N-donors have been used to tune the catalyst’s structural and electronic properties.As a general trend,the N-promoted samples are more selective towards oxygen-depleted products.The best performing material,namely Pt/PANI-AC reached outstanding guaiacol conversion values-ca.75% at 300℃ while displaying reasonable stability for multiple recycling operations.The advanced performance is ascribed to the modified electronic and acid-base properties which favor guaiacol activation and C-O cleavage,as well as the excellent dispersion of the Pt nano particles.

Sirtuin 3(SIRT3)is a deacetylase that modulates proteins that control metabolism and protects against oxidative stress.Modulation of SIRT3 activity has been proposed as a promising therapeutic target for ameliorating metabolic diseases and associated cardiac disturbances.In this study,we investigated the role of SIRT3 in inflammation and fibrosis in the heart using male mice with constitutive and systemic deletion of SIRT3 and human cardiac AC16 cells.SIRT3 knockout mice showed cardiac fibrosis and inflammation that was characterized by augmented transcriptional activity of AP-1.Consistent with this,SIRT3 overexpression in human and neonatal rat cardiomyocytes partially prevented the inflammatory and profibrotic response induced by TNF-α.Notably,these effects were associated with a decrease in the mRNA and protein levels of FOS and the DNA-binding activity of AP-1.Finally,we demonstrated that SIRT3 inhibits FOS transcription through specific histone H3 lysine K27 deacetylation at its promoter.These findings highlight an important function of SIRT3 in mediating the often intricate profibrotic and proinflammatory responses of cardiac cells through the modulation of the FOS/AP-1 pathway.Since fibrosis and inflammation are crucial in the progression of cardiac hypertrophy,heart failure,and diabetic cardiomyopathy,our results point to SIRT3 as a potential target for treating these diseases.

Wireless Sensor Network is considered as the intermediate layer in the paradigm of Internet of things(IoT)and its effectiveness depends on the mode of deployment without sacrificing the performance and energy efficiency.WSN provides ubiquitous access to location,the status of different entities of the environment and data acquisition for long term IoT monitoring.Achieving the high performance of the WSN-IoT network remains to be a real challenge since the deployment of these networks in the large area consumes more power which in turn degrades the performance of the networks.So,developing the robust and QoS(quality of services)aware energy-efficient routing protocol for WSN assisted IoT devices needs its brighter light of research to enhance the network lifetime.This paper proposed a Hybrid Energy Efficient Learning Protocol(HELP).The proposed protocol leverages the multi-tier adaptive framework to minimize energy consumption.HELP works in a two-tier mechanism in which it integrates the powerful Extreme Learning Machines for clustering framework and employs the zonal based optimization technique which works on hybrid Whale-dragonfly algorithms to achieve high QoS parameters.The proposed framework uses the sub-area division algorithm to divide the network area into different zones.Extreme learning machines(ELM)which are employed in this framework categories the Zone’s Cluster Head(ZCH)based on distance and energy.After categorizing the zone’s cluster head,the optimal routing path for an energy-efficient data transfer will be selected based on the new hybrid whale-swarm algorithms.The extensive simulations were carried out using OMNET++-Python userdefined plugins by injecting the dynamic mobility models in networks to make it a more realistic environment.Furthermore,the effectiveness of the proposed HELP is examined against the existing protocols such as LEACH,M-LEACH,sep,EACRP and SEEP and results show the proposed framework has outperformed other techniques in terms of QoS parameters such as network lifetime,ener
